Had a great time for brunch. Mimosas and tenderloin tacos were great! Thanks Kayla for the great service! Will be back soon
very disappointed with my valentine's dinner. Will never go there again.
Went On Valentines Day, every lady was given a red rose, nice touch. Food, service and table was excellent. Would definitely go back. A little pricey but very good.
Came in for a pre Valentines Day dinner. It was perfect. Our waiter was charming and helped us pick a nice bottle of wine. We liked that he added some grilled shrimp to our meat and cheese board. It was the perfect little something extra. And my date had his first lamb chop tonight, but didn’t have to commit to a whole dish of them (just in case he didn’t like it) because our waiter was able to add just one to our meal. This is why I love 220...so many options. Btw my date loved the lamb chop with his steak. Thank you Randy!
They had only 3-4 tables busy for lunch around 1pm, and two servers - and still, service was extremely slow, our waitress would disappear, took us a long time to bring us the check and long to pay.
Would not go back for lunch.
empty for brunch . not surprised...food mediocre/ boring. presentation of the meal was much to be desired. only saving grace was the service.
Food was fantastic as was the service. I thought the restaurant was a bit cold though like there was a draft over our table. There was a party near us who was being extremely loud and no one would say anything about it, this definitely brought down the evening a bit. But overall it was a great experience and I will definitely go back
Great date night or special occasion meal. Food is very good and the waitress was one of the best I have ever had. Very good service. Only downside is that it is pricey (but the food delivers), I look forward to coming back when I have a celebration!
Food was great, the only complaint was the place was very loud. I had to yell so my wife could hear me.
Excellent place. We were there for a business meeting so we asked to be moved into the back dining room where it was much quieter. Food and service were excellent.
Our waitress was excellent with a great knowledge of the food, what wine goes with each dish and had great service. I've eaten here before and the standard is as high as ever. One of my favorites in the Birmingham area!
Went for lunch with a group of friends. One reminded us that the service was slow. Since the restaurant seemed to be filled with business people, we were surprised at how very slow we found the service. It was nearly 45 minutes before our order was taken. The staff was very pleasant, just slow. The food was very good and well prepared.
I llllooooovvveeeee this restaurant!!! My first time and it’s my favorite, the ambiance, the food, the people, it was amazing!!!
Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had.
Loved our first experience here! The food was fabulous and the wine was excellent. Even though they do not allow you to carry in your own wine, the wines available were delicious. Ask for Espire as your server and you will have an excellent evening! She is very knowledgeable and will go out of her way to make your dinner or visit delightful. We came around 6 pm on a Saturday and did not find it overly noisy and we could carry on conversations very well! Try the octopus appetizer, you will love it!
We go to 220 Merrill semi-regularly, but the service has really been declining. On our last visit, our group, along with several other people, were standing at the hostess stand for an extended period of time before anyone came to greet us. Even though the restaurant was fairly empty (save for one large group in our area that was rather noisy), service was generally slow in everything from taking our order to getting drinks and bringing out our food. The staff's attitude was also unfriendly and unhelpful-- our drink glasses were dirty (visible lip marks and greasy smears) there was no acknowledgement or apology, just general huffiness at the inconvenience of having to actually service a customer. I do have to say the food and drinks were all fantastic, but it might not be worthwhile to deal with the level of (dis)service.
Very limited “brunch”menu, but my friend and I settled on the 220 Chopped salad for $10. The menu lIsted many ingredients, but we were informed that there was no pancetta or eggs. No replacements, but still $10 for some greens and a few tomatoes. Salads arrived with hardly any dressing. Waitress was inattentive. Had to call her over to ask for extra dressing, for the check, then to pick up the check. Very loud party next to us, stark decor with nothing to absorb the noise. Will not return , or recommend.
Perfect place to eat alone or with friends ! Ambiance was great !
I have eaten here several times before and always enjoyed the food. This time I was very disappointed. I ordered shrimp tacos and the shrimp was heavily breaded. I always read the description before I order because I am careful about what I eat and I never ordered breaded, fried foods. The shrimp was tasteless. All I could taste was the breading and the sauce. The service was okay but not as good as it has been in the past. I will probably try again but not any time soon. There are so many great restaurants in Birmingham, I can't see spending my money on mediocre
Wayne was our server, he was amazing. Great suggestions and very accommodating!
I had lunch here yesterday and decided to come back for dinner tonight. The lamb chops were so delicious. And our server paired the dish with a spectacular glass of red. The wine selections here are very good. And sometimes you have trust the professionals to do what they do best.
We weren’t disappointed. Another great job. This place is my favorite!
Came in with my girlfriend and had the short rib, Randy served us, his service and wine recommendation was great. It won’t be long before I’m back!
Delicious meal and great atmosphere.
Had lunch with my girlfriend. We dined at the bar and had a fabulous time. The energy of this place is always great. The staff is fun and knowledgeable. I always leave smiling and look forward to coming back.
What a great dinner. Started off with the meatballs and a bottle of Sassicaia. Had to order the 16 oz imperial waygu steak! Wife had the sea bass. Both were amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable and great with suggestions. We will be back soon!
Went here for a quick bite in between errands and had a great experience. Food was amazing and Espree was so engaging that I almost forgot I had other things to do that day!
My friend and I had a wonderful time at dinner. The service was exceptional and the food outstanding. I would definitely recommend this spot for friendly gatherings and date night. I will definitely be back!
Great experience! I dream about the short rib and it didn’t disappoint. Service was great (Carol) She even gave my a cotton candy for my anniversary. I’ll be telling all my friends and can’t wait to come back.
Great food, our server was amazing and very attentive. I highly recommend 220 to any and everyone.
You may not care but we felt the racism...and the waiting staff was not a tentative to us at ALL... but that's the world we live in... unfortunately and that's just how it is...
How I deal with racism you have the problem not me✌.... next time I'll find somewhere else to spend $500... every job that I have ever had...I've had the title of supervisor... I have numerous awards for customer service... customer service is everything.... and I was raised to treat people like I want to be treated and I was born in the 50s..
Peace Out. 220 Merrill

My husband and I were there for my birthday and we both enjoyed the food, service and the ambiance. We will definitely return soon.
Eclectic menu with something for everyone
Great wine program with good by the glass options
Noisy as evening progressed making conversation difficult
Overall a consistent fun experience
This was an excellent restaurant. The food was terrific and there is also lots of variety. There is an extensive cocktail and wine list. It has a very romantic ambiance.
Quick birthday meeting with appetizers and cocktails. Nice ambiance, good food.
Normally 220 is a great restaurant, unfortunately tonight the food was very unwelcoming. My gfs halibut was overcooked and extremely dry. It was similar to a brick in nature.
Loved the food, service was terrific! Tyron was very personable and provided us with a great experience
Second time there. Both times food was terrible. Not cooked. Sent back and came back no better. Will never go back. For what they charge they need to up there game a lot.
Very pretty restaurant, with great food. I would come back again if it weren’t for the service. Our waitress had an attuitde and didn’t seem like she wanted to be at work. When we ordered a fillet Mingon she didn’t even ask how we wanted it cooked. We had to tell her. We mentioned there was a birthday in the group and her response was “ok”. Later as we waited for our food she came by, took the extra plates, and replaced the knife but didn’t say a word. Towards the end we asked if there was a dessert menu, she didn’t bother to bring one out and just verbally mentioned some desserts they had. The worst part was that her attitude was only with our table, she was being nice and pleasant to the party next to us, we gussed because they were older she assumed she’d get a better tip from them. Not sure, but won’t be back.
