Wonderful place. Brunch is delicious.
Food and service were wonderful! Would definitely go again!
We have not been here in over a year and since that time they "remodeled", which is more like demodeled - removed the nice local pieces and charm and have made it look more like a sports bar - 5 big TVs are the austere decor. Over-sized menus with not a lot on them is bizarre and not very attractive or enticing. I used to reliably go to 219 with groups because it had lots of choices for everyone; not anymore. This time, my wife and I both had seafood and mains themselves were very good but the risotto was average and the fried potatoes I had were inedible - burnt to a crisp/hard as rocks. We communicated this to our server - tell the kitchen they messed up.
Crystal was an excellent waitress.
Unfortunately, we were next to a very loud table. It is difficult to deal with intoxicated ,loud infividuals.
Food was good
Very crowded..most of the food was good but it was barely warm.. cornbread stuffing was too sweet. Herb dressing may have been better.
We are relocating to Norfolk so after a beautiful Sunday morning visiting the First Presbyterian Church which was wonderful we had a great lunch at the 219 Bistro. My husband enjoyed the “she crab soup” which he said was terrific & the best lobster rolls he has ever had. I ordered the Flounder which was the flakiest & freshest tasting fish. The Mimosas were great & the lunch was very reasonably priced, the waist staff was attentive & prompt.
perfect for groups or those hours between 3 and 5. enjoyed a terrific burger.
Food was excellent. It took some time for the waitress to come to the table but she was very attentive.
We had to ask for some rolls/bread. They were not the freshest.
A really fun place to eat downtown. Great cocktail menu and diverse food menu. Parking is tough though.
Bistro 219 is a great restaurant when attending a show at the Wells Theatre.. They ensure your dinner is timely while still providing excellent service and excellent food.
Wonderful food and great service with a fun downtown vibe.
What a secret gem right in the heart of Norfolk! Literally in the middle of everything including the theater, we LOVED it. The staff were amazing, the food was fantastic, and the service was quick and delightful. We will definitely return to this restaurant.
Great meal and great service
i usually gauge a place by its she crab soup - and you passed the test with flying colors! We had a delightful lunch with friends and everyone was pleased with the quality and freshness of the meal. Thanks for a great place to add to our lunch list of places to go.
One of the best breakfast I have ever had. The place was clean the service was great the Ambiance was wonderful
Our experience at 219 on Saturday night was delightful. Because my husband is disabled, we seldom dine out. We found your accommodations exceptional, particularly the staff's efforts to ensure my husband's comfort. We especially enjoyed the food, found the atmosphere comfortable. Alas, I cannot speak to the question of value because I did not have to pay the bill. We will certainly recommend you to our friends.
Online menu not the same as in person menu.
Great atmosphere, service and, especially the food. Great place to meet a peer or customer for a working lunch.
Overall good, but heartbroken that fried green tomatoes appetizer wasn’t available. We had it a few weeks ago and LOVED it! Also, disappointed calamari appetizer is now served in metal ‘cone’ rather than in plate — was barely enough for our party of 4. Had a brand new server and he was uncertain about some of our questions because he hadn’t eaten/tried some of the foods.
It took an hour after we ordered to get our salad and appetizer. It took 40 min to get my drink after ordering. Terrible service
Food was awful and over cooked. Quality of food product was bad and preparation was poor.
Service was very slow and server was absent. We were one of only a couple of tables when we first arrived and server was greeting girls at the door and hugging and talking, all while we were waiting on service. Terribly unprofessional and irritating.
Too many great restaurants on Granby to endure this awful place.
Waste of our money. Sent calamari back and didn’t eat tacos. How can you ruin a taco??
Had Jordan on his first night of waiting tables solo. Can already tell he’ll be a great waiter. My scallop risotto dish was incredible. She-Crab soup was pretty good. My daughter’s steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked and my wife’s Ahi was as well.
One suggestion- with a tap list that awesome, offer beer flights instead of just wine flights.
I tend to avoid restaurant weeks (since service and food usually but it had been a while since dining at
Great food, good service, good value. We joined another couple for Restaurant Week on Friday. Parking in an adjacent parking garage was easy. We were seated promptly. The waitress was friendly and the restaurant was not too busy. I started with the she-crab soup (delicious), followed with the crab cake (great) and finished with the bread pudding (fabulous).
Highly recommended; would definitely eat there more often.
Excellent food and service. Nice downtown location.
We went for restaurant week and it was delicious. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Drinks were refreshing. Overall fantastic experience. Restaurant was clean. We noticed a lot of teamwork with different people bringing out food and clearing out plates. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
Went for restaurant week and the value and taste were amazing!
Seated in noisy bar area, service was nonexistent, salmon cold and dry, waffle had overpowering sage flavor... like thanksgiving stuffing. Ordered a 2 Nd glass of wine that never came . Spent $100 and left hungry...
Great for brunch, good prices and selection
The only thing that would make it better would be a better choice of music
This was a very late lunch and I know that we caught the restaurant between their brunch service and dinner-neither one really in gear when we arrived. Our waiter was terrific and we had our pick of tables, choosing to eat outside. We do recommend the avocado toast appetizer, but the rest of the meal was decent, but nothing special
Service was outstanding and the food was very good (and lots of it!). Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely plan to visit 219 Bistro again when we return to Norfolk for a visit.
We were seated immediately in a very nice booth. The service was friendly and timely. We had happy hour cocktails that were very good. Our food was presented wonderfully and was absolutely scrumptious. It was a perfect restaurant to go to before the show at the Wells.
What a delightful find. Being from out of town, I used OpenTable to help select. Well it was PERFECT. Honestly, we showed up a bit late, but they had saved our table and were QUICK to seat us. Great table, not crowded, easy! Our waiter was a delight. In his own words "... I love it when a customer says SURPRISE ME AND MAKE IT GOOD!..." He was quick to recommend the SheCrab Soup. Rich, flavorful, lots of chunks.... The Pasta of the night was a combination of shellfish in an alfredo sauce. Again, rich and delighful… with lots of shrimp and lobster and.... Colleagues had the Pork Chop, the Grill or the Salmon.... ALL said GOOD! Thought we had all filled up, but somehow we found room for dessert - and we were glad we did! My choco-holic wife went for the Chocolate Torte.... Wow, here I go again.. RICH THICK lovely.... Me? The mixed berry cheesecake. I'm from NY, I know what good cheesecake is.... well, this one was clearly out of town....NOT a back-woods cheesecake... I would come back if for NOTHING but the Cheesecake!
Overall - THANK YOU Open Table for the find. A great evening had!
The food was absolutely amazing. My daughter who’s 5 and never eats anything even raved about it.
Great place, we sat outside; so relaxing! Food was amazing.
219 has been remodeled recently, except the bathrooms, which they should have also done. Not sure if it's under new management. The restaurant as a whole has a more casual atmosphere than before. The food wasn't bad, the service wasn't great.
The service was good, the food was also good. The server was very welcoming, my overall experience was great.
Pre theater dinning. They were very conscious of our need to get there in a timely manner
We had a great dinner ! Friday evening before a play at the Wells, Jimmy was our waiter. I had scallops my husband had the meatloaf. Food was delicious, Jimmy was terrific and we had plenty of time to walk to the Wells.
I was nervous about 219 Bistro because I read a few reviews that said the service was slow. We were in town for a show and we didn't want to be late. From the moment we arrived and through our meal, staff was friendly, attentive and warm.
Our server recommended some of the items. My friend had the heated salmon which she said was delicious. We also ordered the ceviche appetizer and I had the tuna for dinner. We finished up with the Chocolate Almond Torte which was amazing. Everything was delicious. It was great before our show and you will enjoy your meal and the ambiance.
Side note: In regards to my tuna dish, I would recommend changing the Bok Choy to something edible or changing the way it is served. It is served as a whole plant and I couldn't cut it nor eat it as it was chewy. I actually really enjoy Bok Choy so I was disappointed that it wasn't something I could eat easily. That was so minor and I would order the dish again, just wasn't sure if they have ever been given feedback regarding this vegetable.
