The critically acclaimed 21212 Restaurant serves predominantly French cuisine in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, at 3 Royal Terrace, 10 minutes' walk away from Waverley station. Opened in 2009, the restaurant is located in a Georgian townhouse, whose original features are preserved in the otherwise contemporary setting of the dining room. The restaurant is managed by chefs Paul Kitching and Katie O’Brien, both of whom boast an illustrious career. The menu is dominated by the flavours of Southern France and the selection changes every week. A five course lunch is composed of dishes such as coriander coleslaw, truffle blanquette and smoked salmon pudding. The dinner menu includes duxelles, charcuterie and the dessert menu offers a linseed rice and blackberry brûlée. The restaurant’s wine list is extensive and a sommelier is on hand to guide diners to find a suitable accompaniment for their meal. 21212 is available to book between Tuesday and Saturday.

21212, Edinburgh. Pretty much the best meal we have eaten. Felt like dining in the couples sumptious living room. Comfortable and informal. Cheese course of 14 cheese was amazing!

21212 Edinburgh The restaurant is located in a smart Victorian terrace and walk able from the east end of Princes St. Avoid the 2 tables by the windows as they are seated side by side for 2. Food is of good quality but limited choice for a vegetarian friend. I have been in better Michelin star restaurants.

I had an excellent meal at 21212 in Edinburgh. The chef's tasting menu makes great use of contrasting flavours and textures. Of particular note are the layered soup and the varied cheeseboard. Attentive service and a good atmosphere. Look out for the cow-shaped milk jugs.

Decided on the 3 course option at 21212 in Edinburgh. At £27 per person, it's probably one of the best value lunches you'll get at a michelin star restuarant. The combination of ingredients, textures and different tastes in each dish was just amazing.

This is a restaurant everyone should visit to experience what can be done with flavours. Not everyone's cup of tea but a great experience. Service is pure class.

I visited 21212 in Edinburgh on Friday 7 October. There was no amuse bouche! The courses were very small and the ingredients all mixed together in a jumble. Presentation was not good and tiny plates were used. The cutlery was an experience, designer irons from Villeroy and Bosch that were in many cases very difficult to use. Overall impression - to much emphasis on design and being cool. I expected much better food, with significantly better presentation.
