Service was spot on up until we tried to get the attention of our server so we could get the check. It might have been because we had said we weren't in a rush or were seeing a show. Awesome menu for restaurant week. Atmosphere and history of the restaurant added to the experience.

I have to admit we were there for lunch during restaurant week and probably would have had to choose a less expensive place otherwise just for budget's sake. The waiters were attentive and friendly, the selections for the rw menu were varied, and the food outstanding!

Mediocre food. Does not live up to the hype. Staff with an attitude. Do not recommend.

We went during restaurant week and the meal was delicious. They even brought out an extra dessert that said "Happy Birthday" for my husband.

Went for Restaurant Week and had a great experience but wouldn't go otherwise. 21 Club caters to a very specific, bougie/rich/1% crowd. My friend and I were probably the youngest diners (we're early 30s) and I was probably the only non-white person there. In other words, the crowd feels very conservative/Republican. Great service, good enough food (could find just as good, if not better, at a lesser price), interesting history and ambiance.

Nice restaurant setting and service, but unfortunately all three courses were unimpressive (usually we would get some pleasant surprise in at least one dish in Michelin 1-star restaurants); maybe it was because we tried the restaurant week menu, though if that's case I wonder why it would want to participate in the first place...

I was here for Reataurant Week. Even though we ate from the RW menu we were treated like gold. Sat at Humphrey Bogarts corner table. Heard many stories told by the staff. Food was divine. And although the menu has foods that are high in price not everything on the regular menu was expensive. It can be expensive if you choose it to be. Yes the prices are higher than normal but I would seriously come back and eat during regular season. The service was divine and delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening.

A classic NYC establishment that's fun to visit. The service is top notch and the food quite good. If you're into super healthy food, take a break and enjoy some American comfort food. The Wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese is a classic, as are their burgers. I didn't think their Restaurant Week touted 'Cavatelli with lamb ragu and Manchego' was just OK. The salmon and chicken entrees were very enjoyable. Desserts were also not impressive, but espresso was top notch. The atmosphere more than made up anything!

Such a great atmosphere and the food is delicious, also really great service! Small toys decorate the ceiling... entertaining game of Ispy during dinner ;)

The venue is nice, and the bartenders who served us while we waited for our table were friendly, but those were the only good parts of the experience. The service was horrendously slow. Our finished plates sat on our table 10+ minutes before they were cleared after every course. They had some sort of rotating wait staff, where we saw many different waiters over the course of our meal, and its seemed like they often lost track of our table.

The food was, simply put, terrible. Especially for the price point. I don't think I've ever had a drier serving of chicken in my life, it was like eating rubber. Maybe it's the increased demand due to it being restaurant week, but the kitchen really seemed to be phoning it in.

For what you pay at this restaurant, you should expect much better food. Take that money and go somewhere else, New York has no shortage of fine dining options.

my faith is restored in dining out

So far, the 21 Club has been the highlight of my dining experience. From the very moment I walked into the door of this legendary temple to dining to the moment I left, it was a stellar experience. Every restauranteur in the world should pay a visit and take notes and steal ideas from this old school shrine! I'd rather eat here once every month or so rather than eat out frequently at second rate restaurants.
The staff couldn't have been nicer, more courteous or more helpful. This place is run like a fine oiled machine. Drinks are generous and not watered down, portions are perfect, timing is smooth. Everything is carefully thoughtout down to the cherry French pink patterned tableclothes. Do I sound like I'm hopelessly in love? I'll go back in a couple of months and see if the night I was there was a fluke or this place is the real thing.

Dined in the bar room with friends during restaurant week. Service was attentive but unobtrusive. Menu options for restaurant week were interesting - the crabmeat vichyssoise appetizer and salmon entree were especially good. My guests enjoyed the ambience and impressive history of this storied restaurant. We will definitely return again!

Food was okay, but maybe not for the price. Beautiful presented, but taste was not so great. Fun place to visit. Bathrooms beautiful with an attendant! They could use a little more (or a lot more) positive energy when you come in. Servers could be a little friendlier too, though it was very well-timed.

21 was an old favorite that I hadn’t visited for a long time. A friend and I were there for a weekday lunch. The food was fine(we had burgers) but not all that special. Cold brew coffee not available. We were originally seated in front of the ladies room even though May tables were empty. The wait staff was gracious in moving us to lovely table.

My major takeaway I’d that21 still has its charms but needs an update if it is to appeal to younger, female diners.

Our dinner there on Friday evening was lovely. The restaurant could not have been more accommodating for us as our daughter was delayed by two hours getting to NYC. (Planes were grounded in CA.) They seated us as soon as we were all together and served delicious beef tartar, burgers, salads, and a lovely strawberry shortcake (with a chocolate plaque on it with the words, "Happy Anniversary" (which indeed it was our anniversary!) The service was great. The bartender, great! The ambiance was wonderful as always (even with the burst water pipe that had exploded eight months earlier, a restored "21" looked perfect!) Highly recommend it for special occasions.... or even if you just want to stop by and grab a drink and some bar food as there is plenty of bar seating and tables and chairs in the bar area (and this recommendation is per our bartender!) A+++++.

I have never eaten at the 21 club so we decided to try it during restaurant week. Upon arrival, the staff was courteous but not warm and that continue throughout the whole lunch. The Martini was fantastic and my wedge and salmon were tasty but fairly small portions. For dessert I saw that they had Bake Alaska on the regular menu and I was very excited so ordered it but I was completely disappointed. It was basically a cookie covered in meringue. Don’t recommend this dessert at all.
