Too loud. Good food but slow service.
We arrived 5 minutes before our booking time and had to wait for 35 minutes. Not nice
I wouldn’t go back considering so many great options in NYC even though this is an iconic NY restaurant.
We try to go whenever we are in NYC. Never disappointed!
I could not enter with jeans on so I had to go purchase pants to get in . It was ok because there’s a dress code . Very good food and atmosphere. Enjoyed my afternoon here very relaxing.
Great food. Sommelier and white jacket excellent service. But for this kind of meal, kind of chincy to squeeze us into a table for two right on top of another table.
We were welcomed at the front door like long lost family. But that’s where the enjoyment ended. We were stuffed into a small corner of the bar room and pretty much forgotten. Our wait captain did not welcome us or ever introduce himself. I had to ask a staff member pouring water our waiters name (It was Jonathan, he was not wearing a name tag). He offered no specials, no recommendations nor asked if we were celebrating anything. It was like he wanted to turn our table as quickly as possible. In fact I had to ask another waiter for a drink from the bar. Jonathan spent the majority of the evening leaning against the bar or talking to other employees. Occasionally he would stroll around and glance our way, but not once stopping to ask if all was ok or if we needed anything. He may have spoken to us for a total of 30 seconds (generous). He strode around with an air of arrogance or entitlement (is he relative?). The food was good but the menus we were handed did not match the online menu. We were looking forward to a wonderful dinner, enjoying the ambiance, and celebrating my wife’s 55th birthday, but no such luck. We wanted out as quickly as Jonathan wanted us gone. I cannot recommend 21 Club to other diners. If you do go and happen to get Jonathan, ask to be moved to another section.
I’ve been eating at 21 Club for years. Worst experience I’ve had. Whatever changes have been made are not good.
We love dining with you! It’s always a joy and despite high expectations, the staff always exceed our highest! Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Overpriced and rushed
Had to wait nearly an hour for our pre booked table, over priced, crammed in. Not a pleasant experience
The 21 is iconic and still dynamic! A great energy and good service from seasoned staff. The food is good, but pricy with all sides ala cart. The Bar Room is a great place for capturing the energy and truly should be experienced.
My daughter and I were visiting from St. Louis for her 10th Birthday. Everyone made us both feel so special and my daughter loved the Birthday dessert. The attention to detail and service were amazing and they even gave my daughter a 21 Club pen and told her to come back on her 21st Birthday. A special shoutout to Simon who was so amazing and everything we asked for was answered with a "Yes mam, of course!" Amazing experience!
Birthday celebration included a wonderful dessert which was a profiterole, our favorite!
First time to go. It was a great experience. Loved the activity. Would certainly recommend.
Only reason the restaurant receives a few stars is because of the bartender and the waiters. We ordered a Caesar salad on the food network was touted as the best thing I ever ate along with the cheese burger. For $21.00 is was served as a regular our if the bag chopped Romain with tiny crotons which were bagged in China. Some of the Romain was wilted with a sub par dressing. For $21 I expected something much higher in quality not from Walmart.. ohhh Walmart would be better! I asked for a burger medium came out well done and if I tell you there was no flavor.. well for $36.00 they should have at least added salt!!!! The bun was soft a small burger for the price with little cheddar surrounding the burger let us on the side with wilted fries. Save your money, go to Burger King get a whopper and side salad and save $50.00 my recommendation the manager should sit down with the chef and cooks and all do some taste testing and make this $0.99 burger into a truly amazing $36.00 meal! Now when your in a restaurant like this after your appetizer bread or salad and before you serve the main course. I have an idea! “Clean off the table” all and all they probably don’t care as it was full with one time tourist along with business men but we will never go back! Total cost over $200.00
21 Club is my favorite place to eat in NYC. The old school ambiance cannot be beat, the wait staff is always on point, and the food and cocktails never disappoint! Love the Dover Sole which is a staple on the menu. The people watching is also a plus!
Amazing food as always ... definitely a NY Great
Wonderful Service and attention to all details
As always, a great evening. The service is outstanding and the food is very special.
My wife and I always drop him into 21 during the Christmas season and enjoy the worlds greatest burger. We have always had Chauncey as our waiter and he is the finest gentleman ever and I am so happy when we see he is helping us. I enjoy his service but mostly his friendship. He is the high standard that makes 21 what it is. Thanks for a wonderful afternoon!
Chicken hash standard always excellent. Lobster disappointing. I love the venue. Maybe just a bad lobster night....
We have been going to the 21 club for years now and we have never had a bad meal. I highly recommend going there for lunch or dinner or both.
We both ordered the lobster and the food came out ice cold. The amount of time to prepaid the food was longer then expected and clearly the plates sat for a while in the kitchen.
The food was very good indeed, and our waiter was nice, but expensive; we had dinner the following night in another restaurant that was less famous, and yet the food, service, price and ambiance were better.
There is a bit of a snobbish attitude at 21 Club, and although we made a reservation several weeks in advance, we were given a small table for 4 people, with uncomfortable seats and we had to squeeze in a small place, with the table pushed to our chest to leave some room for the waiters to be able to serve.
We travel each year for a week of dining and shows. This dining experience is one of the best in NYC! Will always come back because of the food and service!
Great classic food. Caesar salad; chicken hash; tortellini; and filet were all great. Servers are a little pushy, but not too bad. Nice dinner crowd. Was a good pick for anniversary dinner.
We had to get to the theater at 8 across town and had dinner reservations at 630pm. I was concerned that we were cutting it too close but we were seated and served with time to eat by 715pm. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely would recommend. Got to Cyrano at Daryl Roth with time to spare.
Lovely old NYC establishment. A great experience overall. The management needs to take down pre fix pre theatre menu on website. Waiter said they do not do the pre theatre menu during the holidays but we were not the only guests to ask about it. But would definitely return.
Good very sick and waiter was not very attentive...
Took almost an hour after reservation time to be seated
21 continues to be an experience that reflects the best of New York. Like returning to the home of friend with warmth, style and taste, 21 is a welcome respite.
Excellent as always. The food is delicious. When Chauncey and John serve you it is an awesome experience. Always memorable.
I've been coming to the 21 for over 15+ years and it's always wonderful !
Had dinner there before theater. They knew and took great care of us. EXCELLENT service. Have eaten many places in midtown including 2 Michelin 3 stars. 21 Club, one, if not our favorite. They nailed it. A must go to for anyone. We'll be back
my daughter's 16th birthday, everything was fabulous. she loved it. i can't recommend it enough for a special occasion.
We had a disappointing exerience. We have been here before, and always enjoyed it. This time however, it took 25 minutes to seat us, with a reservation! An additional 10 minutes before being greated by our server. Expensive dinner for fair service.
I was terribly disappointed by the sole fish. The chef decided to change the sauce. What a terrible mistake. They should have stuck with the original way it was always done
Awesome experience, great food, and attentive service.
This was our fourth time dining at 21 and once again we were not disappointed. The wait staff is attentive without being overbearing, the atmosphere is lively, and the food and wine are outstanding. We live bringing friends who have never been there before. It’s always a fun evening!
We celebrated a wonderful evening in tribute to my father’s 95th birthday. The service and food were impeccable and we could not have asked for a more celebratory evening filled with nostalgia for the many former special occasions spent in this venerable establishment. While Jack and Charlie are long gone, we think that they would have been pleased with our evening there. Bravo 21.
