On accepting the invitation by someone who works there I was honestly a bit 50/50 about what to expect...plus too it was my anniversary and I had not made previous plans so this way a last resort....As soon as I saw the outside of the restaurant I knew I would be pleased but I was pleasantly surprised by welcoming friendly staff as if they knew me .....it was a blast. You have got to go. If you have a contact like I did , it over ,it's the only place you'd want to go.
This is mine and my husband’s favorite restaurant anywhere. The pommes soufflés are a must! The service and ambience can’t be beat. Thank your for making every visit absolutely wonderful and memorable.
we were upstairs at 21 and it was such an incredible, intimate experience.
Always a hit. Worth the effort. Fun for family. A bit pricey for what you get but food great
The food (and drink) were excellent, exactly what I had hoped for in a restaurant of this caliber.
However, I had a 5pm reservation. We were asked to wait for a few minutes in the lounge after they confirmed the reservation . A waiter came by and offered us lounge menus. We said that we were waiting for our dinner table. He asked my name.
He offered us drinks.. we got them and then sat there as other people were seated for dinner. The waiter asked my name again and said that he would put it on the dinner bill. I finally queried the waiter at 5:30 as I watched more people being seated.
The maitre'd came over, asked my name again and we were finally seated in a near empty dining room.
Food was delicious, but there was no need for the delay and my name is not that hard to remember.
We had to send back our stake back after we already had told our waiter how we want it. The kitchen took long in preparing it took to long that we decide it to take it to go
The best of old school NY. Everyone treated like a prince. Food is good, drinks are better, the service is better yet and the experience is the BEST
Always a pleasure. My guest was deeply impressed that the maître-d'hôtel greets me by name.
Last dinner 1999. Made a very good impression with my family. Worth every penny . Cheers
I was thrilled to finally eat at 21 Club. The service was excellent. The martinis hit the spot. The carrot soup was creamy and tasty. The filet was cooked MR just as requested. The mac and cheese was devoured. Thank you.
Wonderful service always fun ambience. Food yummy!
A visit is a MUST to this speakeasy!
From the decor to the level of service, all 5 Stars.
Wonderful dinning experience with wonderful food!
Dining at 21 is always widely
I usually get to 21 once a year. It is a very special restaurant and the staff is professional and very attentive. Other than certain signature dishes, the menu is regularly changed and it NEVER disappoints.
An annual celebration for my wife’s birthday
An iconic restaurant trying very hard to meet or exceed high expectations. We have never been disappointed and our meal on Sat nite night was no exception!
Everything was very nice. The Sommelier was very helpful as was the waiter and all ho took care us. We were not rushed and the Chicken Hash was fabulous.
Outstanding once again
Everything was perfect
Attention to every detail
I’ve been going to 21 for 30 years. I love 21. I had my 30th & 40th birthdays there. And my rehearsal dinner. I love The staff, the ambiance, the history.
But Thursday night was not good. A major disappointment.
My friend & I ordered a romaine salad and out came clunky bowls with brown-ish chunks of romaine in what we agreed was a “fishy, foul-smelling” vinaigrette.
Then my friends lamb chops arrived. They even LOOKED bad. Not the large, succulent lamb chops we’ve had before but skinny and REALLY GRAINY chops. Tough to chew.
My steak tartare was so-so. Arrived without toast points and cold, limp potatoes.
All in all, a bad night at 21.
As my friend asked, Would you go back again after that meal?
Such an iconic place, a great experience, fabulous service and food, absoultely loved it.
Great atmosphere and excellent service from the sommelier. The food was very good.
Defintely a special occasion place with a feel of old NYC. The captain and waiters are lovely. The sommelier was not knowledgable at all and the portion of the wine list with remant bottles that are a good value was entirely sold out leading us to be upsold on wine. The food is extremely expensive but it was good. A nice night at a legendary place but not a go to for a regular Saturday night out.
As always, the 21 Club did not disapoint! It was as good as it was 10 years ago when we first went. It is my husbands favorite restaurant in NYC and we love when we are in town and have a special occasion to go. It is pricey,so it is definitely special. But, the food and service are phenomenal!
An historic restaurant. The ambiance, food and service was perfect. Was there before and definitely will be back.
We took my father here for his birthday and we asked if we can get a tour of the wine cellar and the maitre d' told us after dinner he would be more than happy to show us. Well by the time we were done the restaurant was almost empty and the maitre d' was gone. So we asked to speak to the manager, he comes over and said no more tours in a rude fashion. We did not even want the full tour just for my dad to see the cellar and this manager couldn't spare 2 secs of his time. The food was great but customer service and hospitality was horrible! Plenty of other better places to go in the city where you can an overall great experience
My main dish was served immediately after it was ordered . Left me with the feeling of being rushed. My food however was very good despite the fact it was made ahead . My creme brûlée’s was a little too chilled . I didn’t get the warmth on the top cool on the bottom feeling. Was a little disappointed I. The dessert . I would however absolutely return as I have many many times .
Great experience before the play. Service was awesome! Desserts very rich
Never disappoints. Food is delicious and service is impeccable.
I know it has a reputation as being a classy, New York City institution, but the downstairs restaurant was empty, the carbon monoxide alarm went off for about a full minute and no one apologized, the waiter was disinterested and sarcastic (this was the pre-theatre pri-fixe menu) and almost nasty. If it weren't for the bus staff that were helping the waiters, I think I would have stiffed him. I'll never go back. The ambience is touristy and cheap, with red checkered tablecloths that are not quaint but just dated and kitschy (and not in a good or ironic way).
Lovely as always
An American classic that is still at the top of its game. Their soups are always wonderful. Today’s parsnip soup was superb, as were the blue cheese ravioli and the Cobb salad.
Although the place is legendary and historic, the food is good but not great and the service is also mediocre. The cocktails are excellent though.
Always a wonderful experience here.
Wonderful dinner, service and atmosphere at an iconic New York restaurant.
Came for birthday dinner, while there are a million more other options... I wanted something classic, while you may not find smoke machines or “modern” innovation here you do find service and the preservation of a former glamorous New York.
Boffo, timeless, elegance, classy, and delicious, I shall return,
As a long time customer (almost 40 years) I can tell you that ‘21’ never disappoints! It’s always great!
My children and I love everything about this restaurant. The steak tartare rivals that of restaurants in Paris. The wait staff treats us like royalty. Yes, it is old fashioned, but that’s the charm of it — a dark, cozy speakeasy where Bogey proposed to Bacall. Love it!
