We had lunch. It was fine. Nothing spectacular. I love old establishments and the 21 club is one of the best but it is really a dinner place at least for me it is. I don’t mind the expense for dinner but 170.00 for two salads with salmon and a hot tea is over the top for lunch. I also prefer the bar area over the dining room.

21 Club is one of the few restaurant / bars I enjoy in Midtown NYC. It has so much history and ambiance that makes it a special place. From the doormen, to the bar tenders, and the wait staff, it is a wonderful group of people that work at the 21 Club. A bit pricy, even for NYC, but well worth the visit a few times a year.

We had a wonderful meal and time at the Club 21. We sat at the same table that Bud Fox and Gordon Gecko sat at in the movie Wall Street. Same table that Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, sits at. Really fun looking at all the toys/gifts hanging from the ceiling. Our waiter, Phillip, was wonderful. He made feel right at home. The parsnip soup was amazing and my steak tartar was the best I have ever had. This meal was the final meal for our NY vacation and it was perfect!!

We were treated like second class citizens, I’m guessing we didn’t have enough money to be served with respect, like the other diners.

I’m not understand why this kind of restaurant doesn’t help their customers in order to get a taxi.
Too noisy, perhaps the table are so close one to the others.

I made this reservation 2 months ago. We showed up at 7:30 for a 8:30 reservation, checked in and sat at the bar. By 9:30 our table still wasn’t ready so we left. I am beyond disappointed to say the least.

Crowded and fun holiday pick! 21 is always an excellent choice. The staff knows how to do it. Ordered a perfect dry martini, casesar salad, shrimp cocktail and a filet cooked perfectly. And then we finished it with a black and white soufflé. Perfect meal to share with my friend .

I have hosted a family gathering for dinner at 21 every December for several years. Until now the overall experience has been outstanding. Last Friday’s dinner was very disappointing. Reception upon entry was poor. I’ve been greeted better at my local diner where dinner was $45 vs $500. Waiter service was rushed and bordered on rude. The meal was sub par on almost every level. Food was poorly cooked. Chicken hash was dry. Cream spinach had almost no cream. Baked Alaska had hardly any flame. Bottom line is that 21 club flamed out big time. I complained to the manager. He could have cared less.

Love the restaurant for the "Transportation Club" memoriabilia and history. But I would love to see more room between the tables along the wall. As it is, seating is a glorified cafeteria table, and if I wanted to sit elbow to elbow with strangers, I would go to said cafeteria.

Never. Ever. Go here during the holidays. A mob scene with no ambiance whatsoever. One of my NYC favorites but not between December 1 and New Years. Very disappointed—left after 1/2 hour of waiting for our table. I was forced to rate all five items but we never got to the table.

Always a classy and historic place to dine whenever we're visiting from Colorado. My parents (Cody, WY) knew owner Pete Krindler well as he was on the board of the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody. Great food and classy service -- we ate in the more casual bar area and it was a memorable experience.

We (group of 4) had reservation at 8.45 pm and arrived 10 min before. We had to wait 45 min till our table was ready. The table was in the furthermost corner of the Restaurant. The staff was in a terrible hurry and we did not feel to be important. This was all very disappointing.
The food was exellent.

'21' delivers on its promise - good food and excellent service packaged with an energized, 'speak-easy' ambience. To be recognized on arrival, after months away, is a special '21' experience - which I, for one, much appreciate.

Great $20 Hamburger....too bad it was $36. It's the Holiday Season + Out-of-town-guests...where do you go for mid-town Lunch? The venerable 21 Club. You sit in a room with no windows and manage a fragile detente with the entitled wait-staff to be served nice, but very pricey food. Time to service is good (most likely in part due to waiters wanting the least contact with their patrons as possible) and then the food comes. It's fine. It's good, even. But its bar food. Good thing they take credit cards or there would be no cash left to "tip" the semi-required coat check personnel. Again - nice venue - even without any views; eclectically decorated (our waiter kept his notepad and pencil in a toy truck suspended from the ceiling); good food and - in a memorable iconic location.

The draw of this place is really the history. They are very strict about the dress code and the pricing is pretty lofty. All of which I expect and fully support, were the food up to the same standards. I found the food to be a let down. The caviar was phenomenal and I expected the price tag, as it is caviar. However, we ordered the chicken hash on recommendation of our server as well as the burger, which was touted as the best. Both were very bland. So bland that a member of our party asked for hot sauce. Which we would NEVER do but it was an endurance challenge to finish it. I was embarrassed about the hot sauce so I elected to leave my entree unfinished. The fois gras was not fois gras at all but patê. I have never seen it presented the way that it was and called anything other than patê. Which, fine, but this is not what we expected. We spent $1142 for 4 people and I felt it a harder pill to swallow when, after collecting our belongings from coat check, my husband was fussed at by the bartender for wearing his knit cap when he walked back through the bar to bring me my coat. Even though he was wearing a very sharp suit and tie. I was really looking forward to this experience and I am glad I went but I do not need to relive it. For the record, the service was truly fantastic.

"21" must be New York City's most famous and enduring restaurant, and should be experienced by any resident or visitor to the city at least once. Because a dress code exists, everyone not only looks nice, but by extension seems to behave better, which keeps the noise level moderate. The service was commendably attentive without being officious and bothersome, and the sommelier was knowledgeable, patient and very personable. The food is excellent, if considerably overpriced, but that is the privilege of a legendary restaurant and the presumed expectation of anyone who chooses to enjoy an evening and a wonderful dinner at this special place.
