1958 Cuban Cuisine
There is Cuban music, Cuban art and scenes of Cuba on the walls. And you can smell the results of culinary work of our authentic Cuban kitchen.
Welcome to 1958 Cuban Cuisine!!
This is my second time here and I must admit the food and service is outstanding... the food is very authentic and scrumptious... there aren’t many authentic Cuban restaurants in this part of Jersey. I also enjoy the fact that is a small restaurant and not over crowded, this is why the service is better than any other big restaurant... Deft will come back again!
All I can say is wow. First impression as I walked in, it is 8 pm and this place is jammed, tables are leaving and more people are coming in to eat. It just has to be good, boy was I right. We were seated promptly, menus, and amazing bread were on the table shortly thereafter.
Now onto the good stuff....... the food. From the appetizer to dessert, each course was authentic, high quality and delicious. The food was amazing, it is a small well run restaurant. Service was top notch, our server was very friendly and attentive which added to this great experience.
The owner took a break from back house duties to stop by, ask us how was dinner and chat a bit. Nice touch. We told him he has 2 new customers and can’t wait to return.
If you plan to come here on a weekend, strongly suggest you make reservations.
Great food and staff is very friendly and professional.
Perfect ambiance. Great service. Amazing staff. Great manager or owner. Felt like a priority. Very clean. Food was amazing and great portions! Recommend the tres leche!
Our first time dining here. Meeting with friends for dinner. The owner was very gracious and welcoming along with all the staff.
Appetizers were delicious. Our friends had meat dishes which they said were excellent. We had fish which was a little over done but still tasty. Great espresso. Conversation was a little difficult due to high noise volume. Overall we had a good time.
The food was delicious and seemed very authentic. The service was excellent. All three of us loved our meals and are looking forward to going back.
Love this place!
The flavors were good but the shrimp appy was dry. The mahi mahi was ok but was described as being served over avacado salsa when it was really guacamole. Hot fish served over cold guac is not pleasing. The ropa vieja was very good.
Also felt the food was over priced .
Great food, service and music. Only negative is the noise level which is loud and makes conversing difficult.
Friendly service and delicious food. This is my fourth time and I want to come back and try more things,
We always enjoy our visits to this restaurant and this last one was no exception. Five *'s!
The food was amazing. Service was excellent. Highly recommend!
Everything was great. Great food, great service and great ambiance. Convenient parking across the street at the train station. It was our first visit and we will definitely go back.
Food was excellent! Will definitely go back!
Celebrating wife’s birthday, service was great and fast, staff was friendly and the food was phenomenal!
Outstanding food .. excellent service .. very friendly owners
The food was great and impeccable service. We will definitely go back with friends and family.
Absolutely I recommend this restaurant. Food was delicious and service was great. It is small so you feel like you are dining in the owners home!!! He came to our table to ask how everything was. It was great! So many places are not that personal. We will definitely be back!!!!!
Excellent restaurant. Service was great. The owner, Luis, was very attentive and made sure everything was great. I had the oxtails and they were absolutely delicious. Plus, its BYOB!
Food is fabulous , staff is wonderful !
Owners very attentive , always come to your table !
What a cute little piece of Cuba close to home and with great food, nice ambiance and the staff and owner are detailed, friendly and helpful.
This place was recommended to me by my daughter who is half Cuban and my son who is not. It was absolutely fabulous! The cuisine was amazing. Desserts delicious. I cannot wait to go back. Noise level high, close quarters for comfort but all in all... food makes up for it. And I drove up from the NJ shore just to go there and would again. I had the ropa for brunch. The Madura’s wrapped in bacon were wonderful. The coconut bread pudding was sweet but delish! Churros great! I’m sorry I didn’t have the espresso with the condensed milk. Next time!
The food is always on point. I have been there 3 times in 1 month. I didn’t know what expect for brunch last week, I was not disappointed. The owner is welcoming and possesses great customer service skills. I recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for good food & a friendly atmosphere.
1958 Cuban Cuisine is a fantastic restaurant! The food selection is great and the quality of the food is amazing! The appetizers, such as the croquetas de jamón, are in good proportions and the taste is fantastic! The main courses are vast and are healthy portions. If you want authentic Cuban food, this is the place to go. The service was very good and very receptive to our needs. We will definitely be coming back!
Good Cuban flavors with a fun atmosphere.
Excellent food and service. Can absolutely see why they’re busy on weekends
The meals and staff were wonderful!! Celebrated my daughter’s 15th birthday and the staff made her feel very special.
We had a very nice time. The food is always delicious and the service was great.
Wow! Great food, wonderful service! Already made a reservation for next Friday! :)
Luis, the owner was super nice and we loved talking to him.
Such a great restaurant. We enjoyed the food, ambiance, service. The oxtail was amazing as was the congri. Can’t wait to go back.. only thin, I really wanted the tostones.. but they were out. Well, I guess that will give me another reason to go again.:)
Fantastic food and service. It does get loud but who cares when the food is amazing
My husband and I were really excited to go out for dinner the Saturday after Valentine’s Day. We usually do this to avoid the crowds and have a normal date night at a nice restaurant. This was our first time going to this restaurant after hearing great things! When we sat down, the waitress told us it was a Valentine’s pre-fix menu only, for $65 dollars per person. This included all three courses and a champagne toast. It sounds nice, but we were very disappointed about this, since it was not on the website and the girl that called to confirm did not say anything about this. I have a very restricted diet and would not have chosen anything that was on this pre-fix menus. We were told there was nothing to do about it, after a shoulder shrug from our waitress. The food was good and it was a cute restaurant; however that was a big turn-off. Hopefully next time I can eat the meal I would like if we decide to go back.
Everything was perfect.
Great place and will go again very soon...like maybe tomorrow lol...the only reason I put 3 stars for value was because we went on Vday weekend where they had a prefix menu for 65 each. We didn’t know until we got there. We had a similar meal a few weeks ago that came out to 80 bucks here. Felt like a cash grab but their food is so good and the place is cute so we stayed lol
The place is beautiful, located at a very nice street in Westfield with plenty of parking. I liked the decorations and ample room between tables. The service was very nice and courteous. The food was delivered quickly and was delicious. I really enjoyed it and will return soon. Highly recommended.
The food was great and so was the service. The place is small and a little cramped but worth it.
Awesome Experience!! 🇨🇺
I would recommend playing Cuban Music!
It would be nice if owners walked the tables and greeted customers.
As a Puerto Rican I am very critical of Latin Restaurants. I judge each place by my mothers cooking standards. This restaurant made me feel like I was home for the holidays. The food was amazing, service was super friendly and the Flan was unbelievable. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant. Thanks for giving me a taste of home!
Cuban sandwich for me and skirt steak for my wife for lunch. Very tasty and staff super nice.
Great food, great service. Be sure to make a reservation as the place is small and there is limited seating.
