We enjoyed the three course dine in menu and took advantage of half price bottle of wine as it was happy hour. Friendly member of staff served us and lockdown restrictions were in place and worked well.
It’s great to finally have a centrally located, moderately priced restaurant that serves good food in the downtown area. I’ve been before and I’ll go again. I’m looking forward to eating on their patio when summer comes.
Outstanding is the word!!! Delicious food, great service and beautiful location!!!! Definitely recommend it!!!
Good food and services. Food presentation was amazing. I really enjoyed them.
Unfortunately, I would like to have ”Octopus” appetizer. therefore, it was not available.
I will come back for that. Thank you.
Amazing food, truly some of the most delicious I have had in a long time and the vegan alternatives were TOP NOTCH!
Service was excellent, good and oysters very good.
Every visit to the art galleries 1931 is truly lovely!! The flavours are unique, complex and presented beautifully on stoneware plates. The halloumi gallete is a must try and for those who are gluten free, the banana bread French toast and carrot cake are game changers. The caramelized onion hash browns had me stealing them from my husbands plate and the slow cooked beef Benedict had wonderful flavours. The smoked salmon was also the best we’ve ever had. So fresh and perfectly smoked. The patio in the summer is one of Vancouvers best. The price point is slightly less than surrounding brunch options that aren’t nearly as good in my opinion. This is a great spot for an afternoon coffee as well! They have the best chai latte. Hands down my new favourite spot. :)
I find the plates they used are very unattractive.
Expected better variety of food and atmosphere was too cafeteria like!
I had chosen this restaurant because it had duck breast on it. When we arrived the lighting was very dim and it seems like our host knew more about the menu and had a louder voice than our own server did. we both ordered the duck breast because we both love it and unfortunately it wasn't very good at all. The duck skin looked burnt we don't even know what was in the brown sauce except for the mushrooms. There was an extra edamame sauce that was on the plate that wasn't even mentioned at all. If you're going to put extra sauces on the plate you might want to mention that prior to serving to people. How do you know I didn't have an allergy? My heirloom carrots were burnt, the asparagus was not hard, not to mention I don't think I ever remember hearing asparagus on the menu, the potato Croquettes that were fried in duck fat were tasteless. we almost wanted to ask for salt but my company thought that was rude. we decided not to finish our meals because they were not worth paying $36 for. I would suggest in future maybe you should actually put what's on the menu on our plates as opposed to adding extra things. I will not be referring anyone to your company and I hope that it gets better.
I went for brunch. Because the webpage, probably my expectation was higher.
I had eggs benny with wild mushrooms, one of the best eggs benny I've had in my life. The others had eggs benny with salmon and were also very pleased.
We were delighted with the service and especially the food at Bistro 1931. I had the BBQ mushroom benny and was amazed: sumptuous hollandaise over poached eggs perched on inoki, shiitake, and Crimini mushrooms sauteed to perfection in a sweet BBQ sauce over elegantly carmelized onions on an English muffin. Add curiously precise rectangles of greilled grated potatoes and mixed greens garnished with paper thin radish and vinaigrette and you have perfection. I'm not kidding, an unusual benny. George to the Peking duck benny and appeared just about as pleased. London Fog with lavender sugar and a gluten free vegan carrot cake with rum and raisin sauce, a great brunch!
Went for a dine out dinner. Food was excellent with good value. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be returning.
Nice lighting and decor but its very small. A bit hard to find the first time as you have to go up the outside steps to get to the door at the back of the patio. Service was great but the seats are hard and a bit uncomfortable. The cocktails were tastey.
Food was some of the best I’ve had in a very long time.
Very pleasant dining experience. Food was delicious!
Delicious high quality food and exceptional service!
Great buck a shuck and sauces. Yummy appetizers too
Appetizer was weak but meal was otherwise very good. Salmon and pineapple tartar was tasteless like it was made days in advance and all the flavours had blended together and neutralized each other no taste of pineapple at all.
We had a great lunch. I love this place in the middle of downtown, part of the Art Gallery. The ambience is great, service was efficient and friendly, and the food looked and tasted great. We'll be back!
It’s was overall great
Very great place for happy hour! I tried their winter sangria which was delicious - not too sweet, and just the right amount of 'spices' for a bit of a mulled wine feel.
Made a reservation for the beginning of happy hour but was not needed on a rainy Saturday - lots of room and space inside for us to sit.
Great experience given the times
Perfect place for brunch, great variety, food nicely plated, we had chia pudding, haloumi salad and croissants, Delicious.
Excellent food and service. Will be going again!
Excellent dining place. The only drawback is having to climb all the stairs to get there.
Also would be nice to have some light goodies like cookies or muffins.
We ordered the sablefish and duck and both were cooked perfectly - not over cooked and great flavours. Would love to come back in the summer as well. The patio looks like it would be lovely.
I have dined a few times at the 1931 Gallery Bistro and enjoyed both indoor and patio tables. The service was always pleasant and efficient, and the food and wine have always been of good quality and nicely presented. I will return often.
Enjoyed dining at the bistro. Food was delicious and their service was on point!
Amazing food and ambience. Perfect for a romantic date or special occasion. Service was brilliant.
Good representation ! Looks good and tastes yummy!
Little gem in the heart of the city. Excellent Happy Hour with the only true Buck-a-Shuck oysters I've found in the lower mainland. Will make this a monthly treat!
Small indoor space but large outdoor patio which is beautiful
Love the service. Thank you
Food was exceptional. Really as good as anywhere in downtown Vancouver.
Great happy hour with buck a shuck right in the heart of Downtown Vancouver.
It is the third time I have been to 1931 Gallery Bistro. The first two times were very good but this time around was very disappointing. The service was quite inexistent. We weren’t told that there was a happy hour on Tuesdays, which is usually something that is put forward. We asked for bread to eat with oysters but instead we got a butter croissant cut in pieces. Weird. This was charged $5 though. The salmon was undercooked. Then, just before 8pm we were told that it was last call to order. So I ordered a dessert for later but I got it right away, while I was still eating my entrée. We felt like we had to rush to finish off. It was a little bit pricey for the experience we had.
Great services, and great foods.
Thank you!
I will definitely visit again soon.
Felt safe in this environment amidst the pandemic. The only restaurant I frequented during this time
