1921 Mount Dora
Without a doubt we will be back and I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Our waiter, Chris was the beginning of a very good dining experience. He was knowledgeable , attentive and willing to do anything to enhance our evening.
The food was outstanding beginning with the roasted mushroom appetizer and followed by the breast of duck done superbly. The pasta bolognese was excellent with a robust red gravy that was next to perfect.
A lovely birthday dinner for my husband. Mason was very helpful on helping us choose a wine to go with our steak entree. Very attentive service and delicious food.
A great experience, wonderful evening, food was delicious!
We enjoyed our dining experience very much. The food was delicious. The only problem we encountered was the specially ordered birthday dessert never came. And the staff knew it was a birthday brunch and asked who was the person having the birthday! Maybe next time.!
We loved our first experience dining at the 1921 Mount Dora Restaurant in Mt. Dora, FL. We received a warm reception and seated in comfy chairs. Everyone was cordial, friendly and efficient in their specified areas of experience. The drinks we selected were spot on along with the food we ordered. It was delicious, came at the perfect time and at the temperature we like. The restaurant itself was very nicely furnished with interesting and beautiful art works. There was ample room between the tables which gave you a sense of privacy and yet didn't leave you feeling in the "spotlight". We definitely will go back some evening to try their dinner menu.
This is our second visit - both time food excellent service great - HIGHLY recommend
1921 Mount Dora was a pleasant surprise. The food and service was great. My only complaint is that the mid-century chairs were very uncomfortable, especially if you have a wonky back. I asked for a cushion and they provided one for me - problem solved, but I saw most of the dinner guests leaning forward because the back of the chair is not comfortable.
Brunch was great. Our friends, who live near by, had never been to 1921. They loved it as much as we did, and can’t wait to bring their relatives.
The best filet mignon I’ve ever had. The fried chicken Caesar was outstanding not drowned in dressing like you get at other places. Accompanying veggies were all amazing and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive and quick but not overbearing. It was a perfect place and was worth every penny. We didn’t expect since small towns don’t usually have the excellence we found at 1921. Hooray!!!!
Very cool/trendy restaurant, quite quiet when we ate lunch as mid week and low season. Had the fried pork and chicken sandwiches which were very nice. Lots of interesting art work, good background music, and amazing wallpaper in the ladies bathroom!
The tone of the place was excellent and my wife really liked it. They had a very nice bar. Unfortunately they had run out of a couple things which greatly limited the menu. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The prices were on the high side but not out of line for a nice restaurant.
A very nice experience.
My first time at 1921, and it was exceptional. Everything about it was fantastic. Adam Crane, the GM, brought our wine to the table. Chef Josh Oakley came to our visit to say hello. And Chelsea Harkness the Bar Manager was fantastic. Our waiter, Ryan, was a real pleasure as well. What a wonderful team. The food was really wonderful and the wine line is amazing. It doesn't matter how far you live from Mount Dora...1921 is absolutely worth the drive. Wonderful facility too!
I love this restaurant. Mason is the best server. So thoughtful, knowledgeable and kind. Food is amazing. And the ambiance/artwork is so unique. Always a fantastic experience.
Excellent food and service. Atmosphere and ambiance PERFECT..Will be back again and again.
Recommended by locals and so happy they did. Food was outstanding especially the watermelon gazpacho. The ambience and Decour was beautiful and comfortable. Our waitress, Jamie was very attentive and fun! She made the experience even better!
Thank you Kelly! Hope to see you next time you are visiting Mount Dora...
Delicious food, amazing wine list
Perfect greeting, seating, service. Chris was polite, attentive and quick. Menu unique and creative.
Thanks Howard. Chris is one of our finest! See you soon again I hope...
1921 is not only a feast for the palate, but for all the senses! Chef Josh Oakley is bringing a vast array of tastes, utilizing the freshest ingredients, procured locally whenever possible, and blending Florida inspired fare along with southern comfort foods and classic beef offerings, as well as in-house smoked sausages and Charcuterie. Well worth the drive from anywhere in the Orlando area, and it is nestled in the quaint downtown of Mount Dora, with its fabulous shoppes and beautiful lakefront. Plus, their Happy Hour is the best in town, with a large bar area, bustling with lively conversation.
Anniversary dinner for my girl and it was fantastic. Thank you.
Waiter’s attitude changed when we asked for the Magical Dining menu. We all ordered the short ribs. When mine appeared too pink for my liking the waiter said that’s how they serve it. The meat was fatty and tough.
When we all left more than half of our dinners the waiter just whisked them away, no questions asked. He didn’t even offer us coffee. What an expensive disappointment!
I had the shrimp and pork belly, one of the entrees from the Magical Dining. Wouldn't order again, 3 pieces of shrimp, pork belly that was too fatty, just a dissapointing meal. The restaurant and art are fantastic. Glass of wine was $16! I had no idea nor do I ever order a glass of wine for that price.
Outstanding meal and exceptional service... We would definitely go back again.
Food was excellent and unique it is different from your average fair of stake, chicken and salmon (they do have stake do not worry), but they have more than that. It has a really nice ambiance and decor service staff is really good and professional. A host was really attentive. They have a good choice of alcohol. I would highly recommend and I agree with other reviewers it is worth the drive from Orlando area. Great job! :)
Service and atmosphere were great! Magical dining menu not so good. Baby red peas were hard. Exchanged meal for the smoked meatballs on grits and they were terrible. Tasted like liquid smoke and the grits were watery. My husband loved his shrimp and pork belly. I am a local resident and was hoping for a better experience.
We did partake in the magical dining option, delicious food and great service.
gazpacho was excellent, and so was the dessert. Did not enjoy the main course, the combo of shrimp and pork belly with dirty rice was not good and the smoked meat balls also were not tasty ,the ribs were very good and enjoyed by the 2 people who ordered them. The location is very picturesque and the art work on the walls was a lovely addition to the dining experience.
I loved this restaurant which I visited for the first time on a recent trip to Mt Dora for an overnight there. The menu is very creative and different. It took a lot of reading and re-reading to sort out my various options. Likewise with the beverage/wine offerings. A lot of fun for someone like myself who eats out a lot. I found more things I wanted to try within the Appetizer/Salad section of the menu and opted for the Watermelon Gazpacho (fantastic flavors), the Spicy Octopus with couscous (very tasty), and the Hot Nashville Chicken Livers and Fried Pickles (would have liked fewer fried pickles). For dessert I had the sorbet offering, also perfect. I am sorry I don't live close enough to this restaurant to try it more often. Kudos to the chef. Service was good, but the server always seemed rushed. She couldn't wait for you to consider your options further, but after apologizing, took off for something else she needed to do. At least she came back. Her recommendations were spot on, but with so many different things to try on the menu, it does take a bit longer to decide what you want to try.
Magical dining was so so. Chicken livers were really greasy, coating not crisp, Black Forest cake was just ok. I will go back to regular menu.
Excellent food, great service, perfect atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant. Brad was our waiter and he was exceptional.
Great location. Second time here. They will do whatever they can to accommodate your party. Food is excellent. One dinner missed the mark. The Shrimp and Porkbelly had a greasy slab of fat instead of the usual crispy Porkbelly. They let the person reorder and keep the shrimp gratis. I inadvertently made the reservation for the next day. They did some dealings on their end and we sat right down. Party of six was 500 plus tip. We enjoyed the event. That’s what’s important.
I love this reservation. The ambiance, the food and the drinks are all excellent. I always eat here when I am in Mount Dora.
Excellent place anytime we visit Mount Dora this restaurant is a must.
Great service. Excellent food. Loved the wine. Very accommodating to my food allergies. Thank you so much!
It was our first visit and it was excellent. Service was awesome and the food was wonderful.
Took a friend there for her birthday, our menus had Happy Birthday on them - impressing. We had the duck, 2 out of 3 loved it. Acoustics bad, noise level took away from the ambiance. Service outstanding. Would revisit.
Wonderful. First trip to Mt Dora FL. Superb !
My family has been wanting to try this place for years and finally, for my Mother's 79th birthday we had the opportunity. Unfortunately, we were sooooooooooooo disappointed. The main meals really were not that good. The shoe string french fries that came with my burger were terrible; not crispy, many with burnt tips, just not good. You can get better shoe string fries at Steak N Shake! The burger was ok, nothing spectacular. The "chicken croutons" on the Cesar Salad had the consistency of processed chicken. They really weren't crispy pieces of chicken breast or anything, more of a soft chicken meatball in a "crust". Neither of the fish dishes were that good. The fish itself was good but all the accompaniments were terrible. The black lentils were not even cooked; they were crunchy...gross. The pork chop was dry; tough; and smokey. The smoked oysters were not good either. They were so tiny and tough. The BEST part of the meal was the dessert....Smores Cheesecake...which was absolutely fantastic!! Cudos to the pastry chef!!!!!!
Pricing is high for what you get, but food is good.
Overall an outstanding experience. Our server Ryan really took care of us throughout the meal and made our special occasion fantastic. The cocktails were expertly crafted and were perfect relief to the hot weather outside. All of our dishes were beautifully plated and extremely well balanced and seasoned perfectly. The space is beautiful with art everywhere. This place truly is a feast for the senses. We drove several hours from many different directions to meet up in Mount Dora to have brunch here and it was worth it!
This place is awesome and I’m so happy north lake county finally has an amazing restaurant that serves amazing food and drinks! The service is always amazing and the atmosphere is always great! I hate to hear the few Debbie downers giving bad reviews because that’s not how this restaurant is!! Some people you just can’t please!!! I have been going here since they opened and it’s an amazing restaurant!!!
Thanks for the kind words! Down with the Debbie downers!
