Fabulous service and great ambiance, but food was so-so. Homemade pasta was on the chewy side, and very spicy, although that was not indicated in description. Very small wine selection as well. Not family friendly at all. No baby changing table in restroom. Cannot think of anything that would entice me to revisit and give another chance....although I didn’t try any of the desserts, so there’s that. And the milk buns.....which were probably the best thing on the menu.

We went to 1921 in Mt Dora for lunch today. It was an ambiance perfect to talking or simply relaxing Our waitress was Rachel and she was wonderful.we split an order of “smoked fish” hush puppies. They had remarkable flavor as hush puppies, but we never would have guessed they were infused w smoked fish which was a bit of a disappointment. It’s an okay appetizer, but not what we were expecting. Then we split a bowl of watermelon Gazpacho. It was tweaked with gypsy peppers and basil and quite refreshing. However, neither of us would have guessed there was watermelon..once again good, but not what was anticipated.
J then tackled their pizza which resembled a canoe of homemade crust filled w a beef kofta and fresh tomato sauce. He did like it and said he would order again. The table next to us received bodacious Fresh grouper sandwich’s. THAT is what we will order the next time. Fried or grilled..your choice.

Excellent Lunch!
Watermelon gazpacho, prime rib hash and cookies with ice cream. Just great place for lunch on a summer afternoon. Service was exceptional and we ate outside with our pup in tow.
Inside dining looks exceptional and romantic.
Will return for dinner sometime shortly.

We visit Mount Dora two or three times a year and have eaten lunch there several times. This was the first dinner and inside instead of outside with the pups. The beautiful rooms filled with art of all mediums was quite pleasant. I had an outstanding mixed drink, gazpacho soup, superb duck, and very tasty dessert. My spouse had excellent wine, very tasty peach salad and venison ragu. One of the best beginning to end restaurant experiences we have had in a while.

Prime rib was a bit undercooked. Asparagus was excellent and the
Potato’s were just ok.
The dessert was really good but the Americano coffee was a bit weak (could have been too much water). The coffee was priced $3.00 higher per cup than we paid just a week earlier. Could it be because of Fathers Day?
The waitress was nice but she was obviously very busy.
We will probably be back. It may have been on off night.

Reservation was for 8:00 on a Saturday night. Restaurant was not crowded, and we were looking forward to the scallops which was not a special, but on the regular menu however they were sold out. Disappointing. We settled for the tile fish which was very good, but a very small portion... so it was a piece of fish on a large white plate!! Thankfully we had ordered the grilled octopus pizza and oysters otherwise we would have left hungry. Service was average, nothing special.

We are very sorry if we ran out of a menu item! We do not have freezers packed full of product so we can run out from time to time, especially at the end of our busiest service on Father's Day weekend. We will certainly provide your feedback about the portion size to our culinary team. Thank you!

1921's ambiance is wonderful and it has a artistic modern charm. Sometimes the food is wonderful and sometimes the food just doesn't hit a home run. We had the tilefish and scallops which everyone agreed were delicious. I was not in love with the cauliflower hash served with the scallops. They were luke warm, almost cold. The scallops were delicious. The New York Strip was tender and cooked as requested. We had the roasted oysters which have been better in the past. 1921 used to have an octopus starter which was delicious but has been replaced with an octopus pizza. I would recommend skipping the octopus pizza and country pate terrine. We all had a variety of desserts, tres leches, rum cake and sorbet trio which were delicious. Service was wonderful. it still is a great place to dine with family or friends.

The entire Sunday Night meal was fantastic and the Americano coffee was probably the best I’ve ever had.
My wife and I left pretty comfortable.
The only thing is that the buns we had very pretty sticky. Maybe as a side just provide a damp warm clothe.
Going back for Fathers Day!

The fish was perfect and the pea & asparagus sauce was wonderful...but what's the deal w/ a couple of tablespoons of the sauce?
Duck entree' was delicous, w/ 4 small bites of duck, as if it was a few pieces of tuna sushi (app)
I didn't understand un-corking a whole bottle of wine, going through the tasting routine etc, and pouring a VERY small portion in the glass. What if the table next to me ordered the same wine as I did, would you have uncorked another full bottle for them? It was made clear I only wanted 1 glass.
The whole meal was very tasty but I came away w/ the feeling I just had a 28.00 app. Not even a lettuce salad or ANYTHING else. The service was very very good, the decor was very nice.. Found ourselves yelling at each other... could have been more relaxing w/ out the volume of the room.

Limited menu, small portions for the price and a noisy dining area. The food was fine, but the other issues outweigh that and make it unlikely we'll return or recommend it to others.

We reserved a table at 1921 for my husband's birthday based on a friend's recommendation. My husband loves eating out at a really nice place each year for his birthday and this year definitely did not disappoint! He (we) loved the food- great portions and quality flavor. The atmosphere was really pleasant being that we went on a weeknight. We are not big fans of crowds, but the tables seemed to provide plenty of space between them to provide enough room for private conversations, even if it were more crowded as I'm sure it is on the weekends. It was also greatly appreciated that the servers were all friendly, knowledgeable, and present, but unobtrusive. They were awesome at adding that extra bit of special to a birthday celebration! We had a fantastic experience and plan to return for sure!

I am sure they do a better jobs when they are not fully booked.
