Once seated, the service began and never let up. Our wait staff recognized us as locals and continued a friendly demeanor. Recommendations were requested and offered. Food was served efficiently and the drinks were delicious. A must go in Mount Dora!!!
Went for Father’s Day. Was very nice, a little pricey so it would, for us, be a special occasion.
Very pleasant meal although we were hoping to enjoy the Sunday Night special.
It was Father’s Day and our waiter never smiled or said “Happy Fathers Day” to my husband. He never came back to check after food dropped off. I also had to go to front to ask him them to turn AC down. It was very hot. The menu was also very limited.
If your vegetarian you Will go hungry!
Excellent restaurant, food, service, ambiance, creative menu, local ingredients and different wine selections. I recommend the wine from Uraguay and the Hibiscus Gin and Tonic. The oysters and Parrot Fish Ceviche were exceptional as well as the chicken dish with yucca hash browns. The milk buns were so yummy. The oxtail dinner was exceptional as well.
Unique atmosphere, amazingly delicious food, and outstanding service (thanks, Darcy!)... Highly recommended.
Went to dinner for my wife's BD. Was a good dinning experience. Lots of interesting flavors and dishes to enjoy.
Great food. Sunday Supper is wonderful
Service started off fine, then we had to ask for appetizer plates and the bread we ordered. Food was good. I think his restaurant in Coral Gables was better.
Phenomenal service and unique menu options!
I chose 1921 by Norman Van Aken because of a review I read in an Orlando paper (online). Our family was in Orlando for Memorial Day weekend, and we were looking to try something new (outside the Disney bubble). We opted for the Chef's tasting menu instead of choosing separate plates/courses. We were very pleased with our experience at 1921, and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is staying in or around Central Florida.
It was clean and inviting. Staff was all smiles and very friendly. Food and drinks were just perfect! We will be back soon!
Good for those who dine on the upscale often. For those who are looking for price and bargains look elsewhere. This is a dining experience worth the money.
Nuanced flavor creation with a lot of attention to detail, well balanced flavor profiles. Seasonal menu highlighted smoked foods at the time, wood blend for smoking was delicious and applied in areas I’d never seen i.e. the delicious smoke flavor coming from my broccolini was epic. i have a new appreciation for what smoke can do with food. Everything was excellent I was only sad I didn’t have the fortitude to make it through the entire cocktail menu which is as unique as the food. Guess I’ll just have to go back😉
Go in with an open mind and i think you’ll be impressed.
Have been here twice. Food is great, service is great. The question is why wouldn't you come here?
Great brunch! Unusual but tasty menu choices. Great service! They gave my wife small cake & ice cream for her birthday.
First time dining at 1921. Wife and I really enjoyed our entire experience. Started with milk buns followed by the cheese plate, both really good. Wife had the grouper, great and good sized fresh piece of fish. I enjoyed the pig porchetta. Yes on the creme brûlée! Outstanding wine list and art on the walls. Highly recommend. Sherri was a very experienced server.
I brought my two grown grandchildren , 19 and 21 years old; as a special treat on the the last night of their visit. The service was very good and the food was creative and very tasty ....BUT my 5'2" very petite grandDAUGHTERr ordered the Pork chop which came and nearly spilled over the sides of the plate, it was surrounded by vegetables and had a side of yummy mashed potatoes. My 6' football playing grandSON, ordered the grouper and it was about the size of his thumb encircled by 24 green peas. We had a good laugh, but she and I both gave up half our meals to help feed him..... Our waiter knew it was our first time dining with there, and I just know if I'd been in his position ( which I was many years ago.) I believe I would have suggested he order some sides or somehow let him know , the piece of fish was literally 2 bites for him, maybe would have been three for me! Really tiny. I am not unfamiliar with gourmet dining, and if the pork chop had been a small round medallion without the potatoes and just a few pieces of brusselsprouts, I wouldn't be writing this, but the disparity was confusing.
Great appetizers. We shared 4 and a dessert plus drinks and wine.
Excellent food and service. Menu is constantly changing with the seasons. Large wine and beer list and the desserts are amazing. Perfect for anniversary dinner or date night.
This venue is better than a review can word. It is a fine dining location. Special date, a celebration establishment, when you need to impress or expirence a fine dining establishment please go here.
It was worth every penny spent.
I was excited to try this restaurant. Went for Mother’s Day. Was very surprised that every dish on our table was average at best. The decor outshines the food and the service by a far margin.
We went for Mother's Day Brunch. It was wonderful! The ambiance, the service, and the gourmet food, made for a lovely brunch. The portions are small but delicious!
We enjoyed the mimosas, most! Very classy place, perfect for a special occasion, or just stopping for lunch while in the area shopping.
What a wonderful Mother's Day brunch. It was our first time here. Everyone was friendly. Reservations are a must.
Delicious peach mimosa.
Great food, great staff, beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended
Excellent food and service
Great selection of wines and cocktails
This restaurant was amazing , the food is to die for ,bold flavors that flow very well together . Desserts were amazing , if I could try every one on the menu I would . I highly recommend this restaurant , it has a great ambiance with and elective decor . If you have not been , you need to go !!
Overall, our dining was a good experience. The waiter was outstanding. We are not rushed but he was there immediately when he was needed. The food was unique and very good. The butter rolls were to die for!
It is a little pricy but for a special occasion, I would definitely recommend.
My vegan dish (not offered on the menu) was outstanding, but everyone else in the party said their food was just okay. Service was good, atmosphere and decided was odd.
Salad was over salted.
Pork shank ( which though we shared) extremely fat, sauce overly thick. Almost inedible.
This was a highly disappointing birthday celebration!
Pleasant evening with great food and drink
very poor service.
Outstanding meal! We had three courses - each excellent. Drove from Orlando - so worth it. The restaurant surpassed our expectations and the location in Mt. Dora was magical. Will be back soon.
Best restaraunt in Lake County. Hands down. Chef's creativity is outstanding. Appreciate the use of local ingredients. Fantastic job accomodating my wife's vegan diet. We will be back often.
Unique, fabulous innovative food, loaded with flavors! Everything was wonderful and can't wait to go back. Lively bar, excellent service, great wines!
Pleasant, delicious innovative menu that was well-exectuted in a friendly space.
I always eat here when in mount dora. I am never disappointed with any part of the experience.
This restaurant proves repeatedly that they are both competent and confident. Culinary precision meets customer care. No diner should leave here disappointed.
Beautiful interior decor. Authentic 1921 building.
We were there for lunch thus a limited menu.
