Situated on the second floor above our Bakery, the menu is driven by the food we love – casual, honest, and with a bit of surprise. Our food is rooted in traditional French techniques, but the flavors range from different cultures and uses the best California produce we can get our hands on. The restaurant seats up to 150, including indoor and outdoor terrace and bar seating.

Wish we had room to try more of the brunch options! A perfect, well paced variety of food. All very flavorful and delicious, cannot day anything bad about anything. The wait staff were excellent very friendly. Will definitely be coming back!
We celebrated a birthday and went to a Saturday morning brunch. Dim sum style breakfast brunch is an amazing experience the food kept coming out and every dish was oh so good
We sat at the counter for brunch and watched the chefs at work. Our server was incredibly attentive and friendly. Since we were so close to the food coming out, we had the first shot at everything. We really enjoyed our experience and all the food was great, but I especially liked the bacon.
At the end I was surprised with a birthday treat and greeted by one of the chefs. That was such a special touch. It was a fun experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back!
The courses are beautiful. Divine halibut. Stunning setting. Servers were relaxed yet offered attentive service. I sent my sisters there for a birthday dinner and 189 celebrated them perfectly.
Inventive cuisine, excellent service and pleasant outdoor ambience.
Food was good but staff seemed confused. Supposed to be Dim Sum style of service but the food never came to us. When we tried to figure it out, the staff seemed to think it was our fault. Marked us as no-shows on Open Table even though we were there.
It was really nice and the food was delicious!
Had lunch at Dominique Ansel for the second year in a row for Dom's Burger Park. This year I tried the Spicy Fried Chicken DKA Sandwich. While I did not taste a hint of spice at all, the chicken was well fried and sandwiched in between the crunch, sweet, DKA I got the perfect blend of savory and sweet! Everything on the menu is top quality! The french fries were crispy, well seasoned and the strawberry lemonade was refreshing. Spent around $20 for this unique spin on a chicken sandwich!
We had a terrific birthday brunch for my mom. The food was great, the service was delightful, and the ambiance was fun!
Opened with the mushrooms, then had the mussels, then the lamb chops. All excellent.
Oh my! the marbled potatoes.......gone in 60 seconds!
Slow service in an almost empty restaurant, less than mediocre flavors, and lukewarm food
Only for them to go try the carbonara! I order pretty much the whole lunch menu and the majority of them where whatever. The fried chicken has no place in a famcy restaurant like that, or if ur gona have it at aleast reinvent it of do something differentto it. Dont bring me something i could have order in kentucky fried chicken and charge me double for it.
Although the space is cool & the service really good, the food was mediocre at best. Most of the dishes were not hot enough. We had to send back the fish because it was raw inside & the chicken which was cold. It seems like no one is minding the store.
Its a fun experience. Like dim sum for lunch. Grrat food and vibe!
Dominique Ansel never failed
our expectations. It was an awesome experienced.
Food was good, would love to see a more robust menu for this next year. Drinks were great & so was the service!
Went there for Mardis Gras special dinner. It was $55 per person. Food was really good but kinda skimpy on quantity. I would like to go back and try their regular menu. The ambiance was cool and the servers were nice and friendly. I recommend it.
Our server was on top of things. We ordered the elote bread, carbonara pasta, burger and halibut. The elote bread was good, pasta was so-so, the halibut came in cold and the burger was ok. The ambiance was nice but overall, wasn’t impressed with their food. I think the value is not there. Wouldn’t go back mor recommend to friends. The dessert is a different story though.
When I reserved for Sunday at 1:30 there was no indication that a brunch would be going on. We got there and they had closed the nice section and we were sat by a staircase near a counter where someone was charging their computer. The indifferent wait staff explained that we had to pick from various dishes dim sum style. They first brought hash browns then sweet pastries then some weird pancakes- then a rolled up piece of salmon, then another pastry - nothing was in any particular order so you kind of had dessert in the middle. The food was good but the service was very strange. Then the bill came to $260 before the tip! It was the biggest rip off ever.
Alex my Server was a pleasant and inviting welcome ...he was also very kind to bring up My favorite Macadamia White Chocolate Sea Salt cookies from the Bakery for me to take home ☺️ beats waiting in line in NYC in the cold! I shall be back for the Crab Boil!
We had a great server however the food service was sporadic.
I love the food here and really hope it makes it. The sun carbonara and halibut are some of the best pasta and fish dishes I’ve ever had, And I’m really into a fine dining and restaurants with Michelin stars. The view is beautiful, the waiters are knowledgeable and Pleasant, and the bartender knows how to make a good martini!
Had a lovely Valentine's special dinner...great value and excellent flavors. Husband loved the sear/rareness of the hangar steak. Dessert was adorable...looking like a burger but tasting like a giant macaron. And then to the bakery for goodies to take home. We're big DKA fans.
Both the servers and the chef need to learn what REAL sourdough bread is. I asked specifically if the bread had risen for 48 hours, which is necessary for the yeast to do its job, and I was assured it was legit sourdough bread. It. Is not. This is important and dangerous. I have allergies to all grains and sourdough that has risen for at LEAST 48 hours so the yeast can ferment away the things to which I am allergic, is the ONLY bread I can eat without getting very sick so it's a VERY important distinction. Fortunately, I know the difference and didn't eat it, but it doesn't serve that restaurant well to misrepresent such things.
Other than that, the restaurant is GORGEOUS, the music was background so we could converse, it was a light crowd which is what I much prefer, the food came out in good time, was beautifully plated and very, very tasty.
The price was okay. It wasn't too expensive but certainly wasn't a "bargain."
I would certainly return. Hopefully they will get "authentic" about their bread by then. Fingers crossed.
Food was mediocre besides the pastries. Overpriced for what it is.
189 has become our go-to favorite spot in LA. Their bartenders are one of the city's best kept secrets.
Recommended by a friend to check out the dim sum style setting for brunch. I was a little bit underwhelmed by the food. Everything tasted great, but it wasn’t to the standard I thought it would be from reading the reviews. The staff was great and very attentive. I would recommend it for first timers and group settings.
Loved the attention to detail and the creativity that went into the courses.
It was so empty. The food was just so-so and the wait staff was well meaning but a little slow. The mixed drinks were a bit weak. Sad because I the first two times I was there the place was bust and the food was pretty good. This time it was only so-so for a pretty expensive meal. Odd.
The food was extremely delicious even though I couldn't understand some of the words on the menu. The dessert is exceptional! The cucumber sangria was also quite delicious. Definitely a recommend.
Do not go for Brunch. The options were limited, and it took forever for anything to come out. Supposedly served dim sum style, but there were long waits between dishes. The food was mostly miss, with 1 hit. Mimosas were offered right away, but we had to ask for coffee. The pastries at brunch were not the same as the ones downstairs, saved for the DKA's.
Beautiful restaurant with great variety of food. We were seated very fast, the server was very attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food was great! Even for a picky eater like myself, I enjoyed every moment, from the sourdough bread to the dessert!
Lovely experience from start to finish. A perfect combination of sophistication and fun. The presentation was outstanding and the flavors kept us intrigued. Definitely going again! Highly recommended!
We went on a TravelZoo voucher which was an excellent deal. Very generous. The food was smart - an unusual menu with lots of sophisticated flavors. We loved our dishes...but the room was massive, the music loud, and the pacing of the 3-course meal totally off. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food...but execution of concept, of atmosphere...it’s missing the mark and needs strong management with a clear vision to bring it up to par.
Small, eclectic and pricey menu. Small portion too. Poor ambience, restaurant empty for a Saturday night.
Came for Dine LA for the second year in a row and really enjoyed it. Didn’t love our desserts but everything else was great.
The waitress was as bad as it can get, not interested, never once came over to our table to see if we needed anything. Portions were very small.
Everything was wonderful... Beautiful, tasty food, such lovely, artistic presentation... and the Dine LA lunch menu was fantastic! Two thumbs up!! :)
