    1878 on the Lake will be offering its annual Thanksgiving Feast Buffet on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Regular menu will not be available. Adults $61.95, Children 6-12 years $22.95, and Children 5 and younger are complimentary. Prices do not include beverages, tax, or gratuity. Parties of 11 or more may be seated at multiple tables. Parties larger than 14 guests will be seated at multiple tables close to each other. All large parties will be seated in the Lake Lawn Room or Geneva Club; 1878 on the Lake and the Delavan Room will be used for small parties only. Parties of 8 or more will have a 21% gratuity added to their bill.

    We went here as a ladies group to celebrate two of our friends birthdays. Our server was all over it. She did a great job with keeping us with drinks and water and awareness of our orders. Only one slight hiccup with an order, but nothing that couldn’t be overcome. The food was outstanding and she even brought out some desserts with birthday candles for our friends. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back!

    We really had a nice dinner tonight. My mom and I both had the salmon and it was delicious. The rutabaga sweet potato mashed are really good too! I’m gluten free (so annoying) and there were quite a few things I was able to enjoy when I usually only have a few options or just salad. The menu doesn’t mention GF but the ingredients are specific. The water view is beautiful and our service was excellent. Derrick was one of the best waiters we’ve had in a long time. Thank you so much :)

    Food was good. Service not very attentive. Forgot a requested drink with dinner. Forgot the Wednesday senior discount and pretty much disappeared after placing check on table. Would recommend 1878 with reservation regarding service.

    It was such a wonderful dining experience for our 29th anniversary. So many friends asked us to share our experience with them as they were curious and hoping to be inspired to dine at 1878. We could not recommend it more. Delicious food from the raspberry mojito to the shrimp appetizer and the complimentary mud cake dessert. My husband had the rib eye and I had salmon. ALL DELICIOUS! Thank you. Our server Brenda was also spectacular!!!

    1878 has become our go-to spot for good food and great ambiance for our visits to Lake Lawn. We celebrated our daughter’s first we anniversary there in July and my wife and I celebrated our 45th anniversary on Labor Day weekend. The food was delicious and the service was second to none. Thank you LLR for bringing the old girl back!

    Was here after my sister got proposed to. They’d said they’d have a bottle of champagne ready and a nice table when I called; neither were there even though restaurant was empty. Kind of a bummer for a spot trying to be special.

    We had amazing food and drinks. The blackberry mojito was amazing as was the salmon and pork chops. Our server was in training, but she did a great job. We could see over the water and it wasn't too busy, so that made it relaxing.

    1878 is a fine dining experience, the food was superb and our waitress was awesome, extremely polite and answered all our questions and had wonderful wine recommendations. It is a pricey but the food is excellent and worth it. One thing that would be nice is to have white table clothes. Highly recommended for young adults to adults.

    The view from the patio and dining area is great, the food is way over priced for the service you received. The menu is very limited and not very well thought out for the style of restaurant you would think it would be.

    The ambiance in this restaurant is beautiful. The view of Lake Delavan is panoramic. We requested a window table over two weeks in advance for our party of 6 and were not accommodated when we arrived. Our waitress took our order and for some reason needed us to reorder 10 minutes later. We arrived at 7:00 and did not receive any food until almost 8:30. When asked, the waitress said the kitchen was very busy, despite there only being 5 tables filled at that point. Comping our two least expensive drinks made up for nothing. When you have high hopes a bad experience is that much more disappointing.

    Tim was great. Very accommodating. The Angus steak was very dry and loaded with salt. The B&B liqueur pour was very stingy. Had to ask for a triple pour to get a quarter of the way up the snifter.

    The food was very good, a bit pricey for what you got but I suppose it's a resort so you're paying resort prices. I'm local so I was taken aback by it. It took forever. Our reservation was for 9:45 am we had spa reservations for 11am. We were late for our spa appointment. It was over 20 minutes to get our drink order taken. Then another 10ish to get two drinks. We were there over 45 minutes before our food order was taken. By the time our food actually came we knew we would be late so we've never eaten so fast before. Again the food was good just wish we could have actually enjoyed it.

    We had the most terrible experience. The food was not good. Was not told they were out of what I ordered until the third time I asked where it was. Witnessed multiple other tables just as upset. Claiming “so busy,” yet not a lot of tables. Poor management from top down. Out of many items & drinks. Comped free dessert, but out of that too. So sent us some scraps thrown in a to go container. What a joke. Tried eating there two different times during our stay & both times waited 1-2 hrs for food (breakfast & dinner). Neither time overly busy. Bar was lined with dirty dishes. Bathroom out of paper towels. Manager crying to customers. Restaurant is beautiful, great views. Tastefully decorated. Too bad that it is so terribly ran.

    Very nice setting with lake views. However, the service was terrible, waited over an hour for our dinner to be served. In the mean time, no one came to ask if we'd like another drink or to refill water. Food was passable, but for the price much nicer restaurants in the area. Decided to try again for breakfast, but the same deal. Did not go back.

    Food was delicious. They were out of a number of menu items. Cocktails could use an upgrade; lots of Sierra Mist or sprite. For people who prefer clean, organic cocktail options this is not a great choice.

    Another great meal at 1878! Table views were nice. Our server tried very hard to keep things moving. The cadence was difficult due to repeat returns to the table, by our server, due to drink orders being unable to fulfill due to missing liquor or mixers. The server tried her best to get drinks. Finally with new dessert offerings, we enjoyed the finish of our meal and had a great time.

    Our server was too inexperienced!! She had no sense of service, was overwhelmed and then tried to hide her mistakes. Entrees were lame...carrots and ramps were undercooked and we had to ask for steak knives to cut them

    My family has been coming to Lake Lawn since we were little. I really want both the hotel and this beautiful new restaurant to be successful! We had a great stay with my parents and our two little kids this week. That said, this is the worst managed restaurant I've ever been to. The food is terrible, and the service is even worse. Plates and silverware were dirty when they arrived at our table. I know it's not a staffing issue, because while the two tables with people at them couldn't get any service, there were at least a 6 staff members sitting in the main dining room clanging silverware into bins during the lunch hour. Our waitress was one of them. The waitress, who had no other tables, took our order and then vanished until our meal was completed. The food took an entire hour to arrive, even though there were no other people in the entire place. We were missing drinks, and got no refills on the drinks we did have. If the kitchen is so bad that they can't turn around two tables in less than an hour, at least show up and refill people's water and beer while they wait. The appetizer showed up cold with our entrees, most of which were lukewarm. I question the health standards of the kitchen because there was a string in one of our fried brat bites. None of the seven of us finished our entrees, because none of the food was any good. It is twice the cost of the poolside restaurant, and the poolside restaurant has better quality food. When we talked to the manager about the appetizer, we had to argue with her to have it taken off the bill even though we didn't even eat it. I get it, this is a hotel restaurant and "everyone has staffing issues." Okay, fair enough. But if your food is bad you'd better have great service, and if your service is bad you'd better have great food. This place suffers from the brutal combination of striking out at both. Restaurant has great views of the lake.

    We had a wonderful dinner wrapping up our stay at Lake Lawn Resort and ending our vacation before heading home. Starting with Z in the Lounge for a specialty cocktail, and enjoying delicious food and wine served by Brenda at our lakeside table, everything was impeccable! We will definitely return to this beautiful establishment.

    I wanted to take my wife and guests to a nice restaurant with a great view so I chose Lake Lawn's new restaurant. I requested a table near a window and was thrilled when we were escorted to a table with a fantastic view of the Lake. The food and service were great and we will look forward to our next visit there!
