About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views

Located within the historic grounds of the Guinness Storehouse, 1837 Bar & Brasserie celebrates the best of Ireland. Named after the year Guinness and oysters were named as the perfect match.

With great views of Dublin city and a menu of classics - smoked salmon, oysters and a rather famous Guinness burger - along with likes of flatbreads, sharing plates and a Guinness chocolate mousse that playfully resembles a glass of the black stuff.

All dishes are designed by our award winning chef Sean Hunter, to be enjoyed with the range of Guinness beers on offer along with a full drinks list.

The Guinness Storehouse restaurants are open to the public without an experience ticket. We ask that restaurant visitors pre-book their table whenever possible. Walk up visitors to our restaurant will be admitted subject to availability. Please be aware restaurant access does not give you Guinness Storehouse Visitor Experience, but you can buy a ticket on arrival at admissions.

Food and service were excellent. As a table of four we covered the earth, land and sea aspect and every single dish was perfect. Punchy flavours, perfectly seasoned, delicate fish, succulent meat and vegetables that sang.

Thought the food might be gimmicky (Guinness themed) but it was delicious

I wouldn’t recommend. I wouldn’t recommend the Guinness experience in general. The “tour” is not worth the value, the pints have tasted better in local pubs. Arriving and navigating was confusing, staff could not direct us where we needed to be for the “tour” which is really just you wandering around watching screens. It’s hard to navigate and they pack people in so there are a lot of people including children running around. Our server at the restaurant was good, but overall, the Guinness experience as a whole was incredibly disappointing and at times, frustrating, confusing, alienating and stressful.

Just an overall meh experience. Our ribeyes were SO fatty that we could only eat about half of it. The server didn’t bring us water and never check on us. I rarely leave less than a great tip - even in Europe and this time I just had to only leave 10%. Loved the Guiness tour but not this restaurant. Too expensive for the less than average food and service.

We had the best server. We had a little flub with our order and they made it right in every way. Went way beyond what they needed to! My husband is still talking about the stew we loved everything on the table.

We had no idea what to expect having booked this last min, as we were hungry from all the Guinness tasting. It has been the unexpected stand out of the trip. The food was delicious & we’re so glad we ate here!
