Great food and setting! We will definitely be back.
Great first visit!
I’ve eaten here many times and you can always bet on a fantastic burger but I took the chance and got a special. The mahi-mahi fillets with a pineapple salsa and delicious risotto was bursting with flavor. So glad I went in that day
Food was incredibly good, creatively prepared and beautifully presented. One of the best restaurants in this part of the country. Only negative was the rather unsettling stairway to the second floor and the uneven floor that rattled the room and shook the table when anyone walked on it. This historic building has a romantic 19th century ambience, but needs a bit of 21st century renovation.
Inventive and delicious food. Very friendly service. Great spot in the heart of old Corydon.
Fantastic FOOD and service to our group. This place is a MUST!! Go back plenty...
I travel a lot and am always looking for a farm to table innovative restaurant. 1816 modern hit EVERY mark! Dishes were creative, well portioned, plated beautifully and most important tasted amazing. This is a restaurant you would expect in a big city but was located in a charming small town. We made sure to give out compliments to the chef, his pride and passion show through not only in his dishes but with his staff and entire experience. Nothing shy of exceptional!
Four of us met for a reunion for the first time in 18 months and 1816 was the perfect place to celebrate! The food was outstanding! Two loved their smash burgers, one made a meal of the fried green tomatoes and spring rolls, and I thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed meatloaf. So many unique flavors made every bite an enjoyable experience. How lucky we are to have such good food available in the Corydon area!
First time - great experience. We’ll be back!!!
Love this place! Every dish is unique and perfectly prepared. It’s a gem. It’s hard to believe such a great restaurant exists in southern Indiana. It’s better than many great restaurants I’ve been to in Texas and California.
First impression was great. Very cute cozy restaurant with a good vibe. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The hostess brought us a glass of water and promptly forgot us. We waited close to 20 min with staff busy at the tables all around us. Finally, I asked the hostess who our waitress was because we had not seen one. She replied, 'oh I didn't tell her'. No apology, just 'I'll tell her now'.
Our waitress was FANTASTIC. She was very apologetic about the slow beginning. The food was DELICIOUS and not just your run of the mill diner dishes. It was fresh and creative and very flavorful. Our waitress was very sweet and an excellent server with good suggestions.
I would definitely recommend this place, especially to couples or small adult groups.
Do it all. Appetizers entrées drinks and dessert! Don’t skip anything.
we had a reservation and they kept forgetting about us and continued to ask what was the name on the reservation. once we were seated , our waitress told us about the specials and mentioned a bison steak. sounded great so I ordered it at medium well. she came back a minute later and said the chef refuses to cook the bison at medium well. I get that some chefs do that but if that’s how I want it, go with it. so I had to order something else. I shared a dish with someone else in my party and the waitress kept forgetting to bring us an extra plate. and the entire time she just acted annoyed at us. it just wasn’t an overall great experience as I had before.
Good food, not piping hot when brought out. Nice staff. We had reservations, but when we arrived was told seating was full and would be called when next available table was open. Took 30 minutes past reservations, so it’s primarily call ahead. It was fine unless you have plans after dinner.
This place is a hidden gem! Absolutely delicious appetizers! The fried green tomatoes were amazing. Ambiance was a little loud/crowded (small space), but otherwise we had a great experience. They also were nice enough to accommodate us after arriving early for our reservation. Keep up the good work guys!
Amazing..everytime we go there, it never disappoints. Scott is the best chef around.
The BEST in Southern Indiana!! FANTASTIC service and food.
We’re foodies on vacation and this was a welcome addition to our restaurant list. Unexpected combos (blueberry and jalapeño sauce on skirt steak?), well-balanced flavor profiles (blueberry-jalapeño sauce that wasn’t overbearing on the sweet, tart, or spicy scales), and perfectly cooked. Great drinks, lovely wait staff. May have to set aside the drive time to come again.
Great place....I will be back! Everything we tried was wonderfully made.
Everything was amazing as always! Scott Dickenson and his staff go above and beyond to make for a great experience. On this visit, we had the eggrolls, avocado toast, Ramen and Cauliflower Wedge. Highly recommend all of them!
The food, staff and ambience at 1816 Modern Kitchen were fabulous! My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and it was incredible. We live over an hour away but we will definitely be coming back here. The food was genuinely some of the best we've ever had.
As always, the food, staff, and experience was flawless. We caught them on an extremely busy night and every single employee chipped in to help.
Its a very small space, so have that expectation on the front end. The menu is small, but we knew that going in (interwebs and what not). We tried the fried green tomatoes and poke appetizers...both were amazing. Our group had several cocktails - peach tea, margarita, and mule - they were delicious. We tried 4 different entrees, steak frites, salmon, ramen, and general tso's. The serving sizes were healthy, the food was great. Everyone was very happy with the meal.
The one downfall was the front of house staff. We had a reservation at 6:15. we arrived at 6:05, after telling the hostess we had a reservation and the name she seated us right away. 25 minutes into our meal...while sitting in the restaurant...she called me to let me know our table was ready.
Always amazing food! Clean venue.
The food and drinks here are outstanding! The chef is amazing! You should really eat here!
The 1816 taco was amazing!! This needs to be a regular menu item.
1816 never fails me when I dine with them. The food is flavor-filled and well worth the time it takes for the Chef to prepare. The wait staff does an amazing job without being overly bothersome. I am quite thankful they chose to be in Corydon.
Love this place. Will always return. Look how beautiful the dishes are. We also got the egg rolls, so yummy.
My husband and I LOVED this restaurant. The vibe it gives off is one of a kind. The food was amazing, our server was so sweet and helpful and the wine was the best.
No point in even making a reservation. They ignored them. Made reservations and still had to wait an hour.
Good food. Great service
Amazing as always. Our “go-to” date night restaurant!!
Salmon was amazing. Egg roll appetizer was the best as always
Place is Awesome ! Great food and service and close to home ! It's a once a month stop for us.
1816 is the total package. So much so that we find it hard to enjoy ourselves as much when eating out at most other restaurants because we compare it to 1816. The staff is fantastic, location is great (it a nice spot that's not far off the beaten path yet not so overly congested on weekend nights) the ambiance is nice and the food is TOP NOTCH due to an amazing chef who obviously knows how to get the most from his kitchen team while creating fresh dishes that don't disappoint. Oh! And the margarita is best in Kentuckiana.
This was our second time at 1816. The first time was in March for our anniversary and this time was for a birthday dinner. Last time I had the pork belly and loved it, and my wife relished the shrimp and grits. This time I had the Ramen and, although it was good, I probably will not order it again. My only negative comment is that if you are going to ask why a reservation is being made, as in an anniversary or birthday, etc., then when that party comes to your establishment that event at least ought to be recognized. Otherwise, we would heartily recommend 1816 to all our friends.
The food was delicious and service was exceptional
Love 1816!! We tried 3 items from the new menu and loved each one.
Best restaurant on this side of the river!! Fantastic food and drink and the service never disappoints. Flavor galore!! Only restaurant that I could make a meal out of all those appetizers...who says that?
