1816 Modern Kitchen & Drinks

Our Server was nice enough. She Never introduced herself and had to ask he if there were any specials. We sat upstairs and it was really warm and stuffy so when the bill came we were ready to leave. The food came out quick and was quite good. I got the burger and my wife got the steak. We’d probably come back but we won’t sit upstairs in the summertime, that’s for sure

Our meal was amazing as always!

Small menu, limited choices, but food was excellent.
We ate upstairs, nice and quiet.
Excellent service.
A little pricey, but well worth it.

Fantastic Food and drink Friendly efficient staff

We made a reservation and still had to wait about 25 minutes for a table. We sat upstairs which was a little on the warm side and the stairs might be hard to manage for some. We ordered the fried green tomatoes - outstanding! We also had the General Tso pork belly - very good, but spicy! - and the Smash burger - very good, big with 2 patties. We split the peach bread pudding - very good but could use whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Drinks were refilled a little slow and she never took the empty glasses which started to pile up on our table. Overall would definitely return and maybe sit on main floor.

The bourbon cocktails were amazing! The food, too was wonderful & plated beautifully. Make reservations if you want a guaranteed seat for dinner though, there is limited seating in the dining area!

Fried green tomatoes appetizer was very flavorful. I had the crispy skin chicken - excellent; partner had the night's special, steak fettucine - it was VERY good also.... portions were quite large. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner. We plan to visit again, next time we are going through town. Great job!

The wife is a huge fan of Fish and Chips so we were SO EXCITED that it was the weekend special at our favorite restaurant. As always I found the staff friendly and accommodating and was blown away by the food. They always have a delicious unique way to combine ingredients

The food was outstanding! We got the crispy skin chicken and the pork belly General Tso. Both were excellent! Our server was delightful and thoughtful. The dining room is smaller than I expected but the ambiance was nice and it was an overall really wonderful evening.

Great first visit!

I’ve eaten here many times and you can always bet on a fantastic burger but I took the chance and got a special. The mahi-mahi fillets with a pineapple salsa and delicious risotto was bursting with flavor. So glad I went in that day

Food was incredibly good, creatively prepared and beautifully presented. One of the best restaurants in this part of the country. Only negative was the rather unsettling stairway to the second floor and the uneven floor that rattled the room and shook the table when anyone walked on it. This historic building has a romantic 19th century ambience, but needs a bit of 21st century renovation.

I travel a lot and am always looking for a farm to table innovative restaurant. 1816 modern hit EVERY mark! Dishes were creative, well portioned, plated beautifully and most important tasted amazing. This is a restaurant you would expect in a big city but was located in a charming small town. We made sure to give out compliments to the chef, his pride and passion show through not only in his dishes but with his staff and entire experience. Nothing shy of exceptional!

Four of us met for a reunion for the first time in 18 months and 1816 was the perfect place to celebrate! The food was outstanding! Two loved their smash burgers, one made a meal of the fried green tomatoes and spring rolls, and I thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed meatloaf. So many unique flavors made every bite an enjoyable experience. How lucky we are to have such good food available in the Corydon area!

Love this place! Every dish is unique and perfectly prepared. It’s a gem. It’s hard to believe such a great restaurant exists in southern Indiana. It’s better than many great restaurants I’ve been to in Texas and California.

First impression was great. Very cute cozy restaurant with a good vibe. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. The hostess brought us a glass of water and promptly forgot us. We waited close to 20 min with staff busy at the tables all around us. Finally, I asked the hostess who our waitress was because we had not seen one. She replied, 'oh I didn't tell her'. No apology, just 'I'll tell her now'.
Our waitress was FANTASTIC. She was very apologetic about the slow beginning. The food was DELICIOUS and not just your run of the mill diner dishes. It was fresh and creative and very flavorful. Our waitress was very sweet and an excellent server with good suggestions.
I would definitely recommend this place, especially to couples or small adult groups.

Do it all. Appetizers entrées drinks and dessert! Don’t skip anything.

we had a reservation and they kept forgetting about us and continued to ask what was the name on the reservation. once we were seated , our waitress told us about the specials and mentioned a bison steak. sounded great so I ordered it at medium well. she came back a minute later and said the chef refuses to cook the bison at medium well. I get that some chefs do that but if that’s how I want it, go with it. so I had to order something else. I shared a dish with someone else in my party and the waitress kept forgetting to bring us an extra plate. and the entire time she just acted annoyed at us. it just wasn’t an overall great experience as I had before.

Good food, not piping hot when brought out. Nice staff. We had reservations, but when we arrived was told seating was full and would be called when next available table was open. Took 30 minutes past reservations, so it’s primarily call ahead. It was fine unless you have plans after dinner.

This place is a hidden gem! Absolutely delicious appetizers! The fried green tomatoes were amazing. Ambiance was a little loud/crowded (small space), but otherwise we had a great experience. They also were nice enough to accommodate us after arriving early for our reservation. Keep up the good work guys!

The BEST in Southern Indiana!! FANTASTIC service and food.

We’re foodies on vacation and this was a welcome addition to our restaurant list. Unexpected combos (blueberry and jalapeño sauce on skirt steak?), well-balanced flavor profiles (blueberry-jalapeño sauce that wasn’t overbearing on the sweet, tart, or spicy scales), and perfectly cooked. Great drinks, lovely wait staff. May have to set aside the drive time to come again.

Everything was amazing as always! Scott Dickenson and his staff go above and beyond to make for a great experience. On this visit, we had the eggrolls, avocado toast, Ramen and Cauliflower Wedge. Highly recommend all of them!

The food, staff and ambience at 1816 Modern Kitchen were fabulous! My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner and it was incredible. We live over an hour away but we will definitely be coming back here. The food was genuinely some of the best we've ever had.
