                                                                          Very enjoyable dinner at 1799--our first visit. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive, but not overly so. My wife's halibut was cooked perfectly and portion size was good. My seafood pasta special was very tasty, flavorable and not too rich. Grilled carrots were cooked to the right level of being cooked. Finished our meal off with their signature carrot cake. Much different from the carrot cake experienced elsewhere. This one wasn't too oily or rich and very tasty. 1799 is worth a try if you haven't been there yet.

                                                                          We’ve been to the Harpeth before and we’ve had samples of their food at whiskey events but this was the first time trying it for dinner. It was an hour drive for us coming from north Nashville so we were hoping the drive was worth it. It was. The Harpeth Liepers Forks collaboration of bourbon started the night off right. We had superb appetizers; pork belly, cheese fondue and fried mushrooms as a side but they made a great appetizer. Anastasia took great care of us and had this great suggestion about the mushrooms. The Prime Filet Wellington was the best we’ve ever had. We finished off with a phenomenal Carrot Cake. It was so good we inhaled it before we could get a picture. We’d definitely recommend 1799 for a high class gourmet meal that has a spectacular bourbon selection!!!

Justin, Chef Thomas & Harpeth Hotel 1799 Team really know how to make a Dad’s Day Special”! Our Server Scot was knowledgeable about Menu Selections & Insights. He provided excellent service & was attentive to our every need! The Food created by Chef Thomas was delicious, presented in a picturesque manner and prepared perfectly according to our preferences!                                                                           I made the reservation 3 weeks prior and specifically requested one of their private booths. When I arrived I was seated elsewhere and inquired about my seating request. After a little checking I was seated as originally requested. The server started a pleasant chat and I knew by her questions she had read the comments in my reservation. As food was delivered I requested a second mixed drink from the bar. 15 minutes passed and I had almost completed my meal when I asked server about drink. Her reaction confirmed she had forgotten it. About 5 minutes later the drink appeared-there was certainly no sense of urgency in dealing with the bar. The oysters were raw….not quite what is suggested by menu (“basted”….and server said they were char-grilled). The trout was average, salmon was “uninspired”. The Parmesan-crusted gigante beans were delicious. In summary, everyone was personable and courteous, but service—beginning with seating, meal, and bar service were just average. Was expecting a top-tier experience based on ads and comments. It was not.

                                                                          Been many times before and food was the excellent but this time not so. My wife had trout and it was bland- no real seasoning. I had the lamb ribeye ($68) and it was tough (ordered medium with little pink) and no flavor. The bread has changed. ($5 per serving). Not sure what has happened? New management or chef or kitchen ??
