Food was ok at best. Our waiter was good. The rest of the wait staff didn’t know what they were doing — need basic training. The host could be friendlier. Will not be going back any time soon. There are better choices in DC and Georgetown in particular.

This was my second visit and as consistently great as the first visit. The price was very reasonable for a high end restaurant that provides outstanding service. We had the trout appetizer, Dover Sole and the pork chop entree. All were excellent and the sauce for the Dover Sole was exquisite. The house recommended dessert was wonderful too - a lemon cake with blueberries. Much better that we expected. We chose an interesting wine from the Sud Tirol region of Italy. I never had a wine from this region before and it was a perfect red table wine for a summer evening. The service is wonderful and I love the historical setting. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'll e back. I'm also looking forward to trying other restaurants in Clyde's restaurant group.

We hadn’t visited 1789 in some time. Last night was a reminder of how magnificent it has always been. The ambience as always was wonderful. The staff was as warm and welcoming as we remembered. But the “star” of the show was the fabulous dinner itself! We were so happy to experience 1789 once again!

1789 is a classy restaurant. The food is excellent, the menu offers a thoughtful variety of choices, and the service is outstanding. We live nearby and so find 1789 a lovely place to dine and to bring friends.

Excellent quality food. Felt like royalty dining here. The service was impeccable. I never had to wait for anything and felt well taken care of. This is a great establishment with great staff!

This was a perfect place to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary. We both had Halibut for our main course and Chocolate Bavarian for dessert. The food was absolutely delicious! The staff was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They seemed to really enjoy serving us. The historic restaurant itself was very calm, comfortable, and elegant without being ostentatious. In addition, we were pleasantly surprised to find parking on the street.
