   1789 is an excellent restaurant for any occasion. Excellent service and food. A gem in Georgetown.

   The ambience service and food was first rate with one exception. I ordered Dover Sole. I received a white fish that neither had the form or texture of Dover Sole

   My wife and I always a special and superior restaurant for the last night in a city vacation. In Washington, it’s 1799. It’s always a superior meal. Romantic stetting near Georgetown University , spectacular neighborhood. They also have valet parking now. (It’s not listed on their Open Table profile).

   Fabulous. Impeccable service, inviting atmosphere, delicious food. Truly loved it all. Best scallops I’ve ever tasted. Chocolate bread pudding was heavenly. Thank you for making dinner special!

   If you're looking for a special dining experience, 1789 is the spot. The atmosphere is terrific and the staff are beyond professional. They clearly take pride in the quality of their service and do it with authenticity. Literally, we could not have been taken better care of all evening. The food and presentation are top notch - we had a beef, lamb and two different fish entrees and all were exquisite! 10 out of 10!

    Excellent cocktail and stellar service. Food was fine for meat and starch offering, but lacking in culinary creativity. If an overtly masculine, resist-change vibe is your thing, along with atmosphere that hasn't changed since the 60s or 70s, then this is your place. Price point not commensurate with the experience. At one time, this was the place to go, but now that Washington actually has a decent food scene, there's little reason to climb the hill and eat in the dusty, dimly lit rooms where old men who dye their hair dine.
