1776 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We were looking for a good steak and decided to try 1776. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and inviting. Our server was sullen and not at all interested in his job. He did describe all the steaks for us. Our entree was brought out as we were still working on our appetizers. The steak was pretty average the salad tasted as if they had been made earlier but the waiter really made us feel like we don't want to go back.
I took my husband here for his birthday. We had never tried it before but he’s a meat loving man so what better than a steakhouse! We definitely were not disappointed! Our server Jodi was very knowledgeable and gave us a meat tutorial! Very cool! The whole meal from appetizer to dessert was in a word... Incredible! Can not wait for my birthday because I know where I’m going!
This is our favorite place for good beef in the Lewes/Rehoboth area. We are always happy with what we choose. This time my husband had a filet that was perfect and I had a delicious grilled lobster tail. I appreciate the fact that the tail is easy to remove from the shell since most of the work has been done before it is served. The baked potato had a special, buttery texture that I really enjoyed. A wonderful restaurant worthy of loyal patrons.
Steaks were underwhelming. My wife got the filet mignon trio and she asked for it medium. It was rare and still not tender. I got the porterhouse which they slapped some seasoning on without asking. Our server was great but other than that extremely lackluster
Food was excellently prepared, cooked exactly to our requested doneness. Excellent service, nice ambiance. A keyboard player the Sunday night we went was nice. My only disappointment was they ran out of bernaise sauce for the beef. Hard to imagine a specialty steak house would not make it from scratch and whip some up for a customer, or have adequate ingredients to make it. Other than that it was an enjoyable dinner and experience.
My husband and I had a great time at 1776, had a rare date night so we thought we'd do something special. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. The meal was very expensive but we knew it would be going in. I dont usually eat steak but the filet was amazing. Definitely plan on gping back!
My husband and I celebrated our 39th Anniversary at 1776 and completed enjoyed every aspect of our meal. We started with the Mixed Field of Greens salad with apple smoked bacon, dried cherries, walnuts and crumbled gorgonzola cheese tossed in a maple vinagrette. It was delicious. My husband had the 8 oz Filet Mignon, and it was perfect. It was served with a huge baked potato and vegetable medly. He also enjoyed a side of sauteed mushrooms that were divine. I chose Surf and Turf, with a perfectly delicious 6 oz. filet and a 7 oz lobster tail. I also enjoyed the baked potato and vegetable medley. Our server was professional, very helpful and attentive, without being intrusive. He surprised us with a dessert for our Anniversary, a delicious slice of Banana Coconut Cream Pie, which we took home as we were so full. We also took home some of the filet, vegetables and mushrooms, and my husband ate them for lunch, enjoying them as much as we had the night before. Our cocktails were also very good. We will absolutely return!
We've been coming to this restaurant for 8 years and have always had a fantastic meal. However, if you're one of the unlucky ones to be seated near the entrance (as we were), your experience will be less that pleasant. The crowd of people waiting to be seated can be quite overwhelming. People standing over your table and staring while you eat is just annoying and rude.
1776 Steakhouse is always a treat to dine at whether it is a special occasion or just a fine dining dinner out. The food is always excellent, it comes to the table hot and the staff is friendly and very attentive to your needs. An extra treat is when Nick is there playing the piano. We're living here three years and this is the best restaurant we have found since moving here.
Another fabulous meal, steaks to perfection, we went on a very busy night and things went smoothly. It’s a special place tucked in the shopping center. Andrea rocks as a server, paired a good wine for our meal.
This restaurant gets it right with the lovely live music via keyboard player, it’s plesant, relaxing and you can still carry a conversation. All this topped off by the creme brûlée cheese cake! Until next time,
great delcious memories.
Excellent drinks, food and service. We were promptly greeted and offered our table, but decided to have a drink at the bar. Other patrons at the bar were very friendly and engaged us in conversation. When we were seated, the server was gracious and we enjoyed our meal. Look forward to another visit.

1776 is top tier restaurant located in Rehoboth Beach/Lewes area...
Best Steak place here... like Morton’s or Palm...
Nice quiet crowd... Good service... good wine... good food... even has entertainment on weekends... With all the dive bars and restaurants this is more my speed if you like to dress up occasionally.
I gave it 4 stars because I have been to NYC and LA,
big cities with a bit more class, but 1776 is trying hard so it’s worth your while..
My wife and I went for our 15th anniversary. Service was a touch slow but the food was excellent. The waitress brought out a tray of all the cuts of steak to help with our choice. We both enjoyed the Delmonico. The waitress also brought us a anniversary cake to go after our dinner.
Have eaten here many times over the years. Prices seem to continually rise. Checked their online menu two hours before we went to dinner and when we got there discovered the prices were even higher than advertised online. Too bad they cannot keep their website up-to-date. Waitress didn't seem to care. And as of today, two days later, they still have the old menu with the incorrect prices on their website. $40-$50 for a steak dinner is getting quite exorbitant for this area. This is a nice restaurant but we're not in Manhattan. And my steak (a $42 Kansas City Strip) was very much undercooked. I ordered it med-rare and it was very rare to nearly raw in places. I don't mind my steaks rare so I did eat it but I would have preferred it the way I ordered it. Sorry, but don't know if I'll be back again.
The seven of us, three with hearing aids, were seated in the bar. Our request to be moved to the dining room was denied. A large group of boisterous men was seated next to us. Our room was very cold as well. Our party was not happy. We left as soon as possible. Tables in the dining were still empty. As we left the hostess who denied us a suitable table asked if everything was okay. My sister said no, it wasn't, due to the seating. The hostess said maybe next time we'd have a better table.
