1764 Public House
1764 Public House honors the history and resurgence of St. Louis and its Central West End neighborhood. Our breakfast menu, lunch menu and dinner menus feature modern twists on St. Louis and New Orleans favorites such as St. Louis-style pizza, seafood gumbo and gooey butter cake. At the bar, you will find unique cocktails, craft beers and an extensive wine selection.
As with every Gamlin Restaurant Group establishment, each dish at 1764 Public House is made from scratch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
Good service and cocktails, but the food was too salty and oily. I would not come back for brunch but might for happy hour.
We really enjoyed 1764 Public House! Food was great! Thank you!
Overall, good experience. While the service wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great either. I would recommend it.
Awesome service and food! Highly recommended!
Great Cajun food! Also a great place for a group to gather for dinner.
WE TOOK OUR FRINED OUT FOR A BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND IT WORST SERVICE/EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! APPETIZER CAME OUT WITH MEAL,9NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL) MY HUSBANDS FOOD WAS COLD AND NOT VERY GOOD- AND WE WERE UNBALE TO TELL ANYONE BECAUSE THE SERVER NEVER CAME TO THE TABLE TO CHECK ON US. WE LITERALLY HAD TO GET UP TWICE TO ASK FOR OUR BILL- WHICH WAS OVER $150, NOT BAD FOR 4 PEOPLE AND I CERTAINLY DO NOT MIND PAYING FOR A GOOD MEAL IN A GOOD RESTAURANT.
We loved 1764! It was a very fun and delicious experience. Our server, Maurice, was terrific!
This experience was so-so. The noise, at first, was too annoying even though we were NOT sitting in the "sports bar" area. The service was good and attentive, however the food was mediocre and, given the many options in the Central West End, we are unlikely to recommend or return.
It was especially disturbing that I asked to have my parking stub validated, was told it was unnecessary and that I would not be charged, but then the machine in the garage demanded 3-bucks! Not a huge amount, but an aggravation that should not have happened.
I love the vibe of 1764 Public. The service is always exceptional and the food is good, too.
We all enjoyed a very good meal and cocktails. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Two in our party had never been and liked it a lot. We have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Never disappointed.
After perusing the menu we decided on 2 dishes that included polenta. Our waitress informed us that those dishes weren't available as the restaurant was out of polenta. I asked if we could substitute a vegetable or mashed potatoes for the polenta and she told us it wasn't an option. Disappointed we decided on another dish, not one that interested either of us, and were then informed that the polenta had become available and our original choices could be ordered. I find the drink prices a bit high, although the food is outstanding. If it had not been Valentine's Day and we had ordered oysters; I believe we would have left the restaurant after being told that our dinner choices weren't available.
We found that our food entrees were very nearly too salty to eat. We could only eat part and did not care to take leftovers home. The salid was fresh but very bland. The French frys were good
Was nothing that really popped out at me menu wise, it was okay I would not go back it was not for me.
The food was amazing. I’ve been looking for a new brunch place and this definitely hit the spot! Even the brunch boozy drinks had a twist to them and i truly enjoyed everything about this place. The food, service & atmosphere was amazing.
The food was good, the service was very friendly but also very slow.
Our waitress was excellent. The steak debris with polenta was delicious. I can’t wait to return!
Great food for the price. Cajun/creole fare is best
The food selection is amazing. We were really excited to try it out! The service was quite slow including the initial drinks and food and it seemed like a couple of the dishes had been sitting for a bit. The pork steak had tough edges. Also, the beignets were overdone.
I think if these things were fixed it would be awesome. Definitely would come again.
Not impressed at all. We knew we were doomed the minute we walked in and it was empty at noon on Sunday for brunch. Bummed!
Delicious food and reasonably priced drinks. Fantastic service.
Delicious food great service!
Came with a group for holiday lunch - they gave us a wonderful private area. Great service! Great food! I will go back
Pros: Great attentive service, extensive drink menu.
Cons: limited food menu, average food quality and creativity.
Average prices for central west end.
Very nice environment and excellent service. Food was delicious
This was overall disappointing. We were there early in the evening and the place was not busy. Bar-like atmosphere with the usual TVs. Beer selections were good and our server was great at giving recommendations. They have only the lousy O'Douls if you want NA, which is surprising given their other broad beer selection, when so many breweries, including some local, make great NA beers.
We order catfish and fries, shrimp cocktail and crawfish ravioli. The pimento cheese dip that arrived with the ravioli had been sitting long enough that a skim had formed on the top of the cheese, which then carried over into the ravioli themselves, which despite being slightly overbrown, were luke warm at best in the center. The shrimp cocktail sauce was good, with a nice kick, but the shrimp had clearly not just been shelled, they too had a bit of a rubbery edging as if refrigerated and pre-prepared. The catfish breading was a delicious flavor and the fries were the best part of the meal, but again all was lukewarm. I would have returned it had we not been trying to make a movie time. GIven the family of restaurants of which this is a member, I found the whole thing disappointing and expensive for the experience. Server, think her name was Ali, was stellar.
With all the restaurants in this neighborhood, I'd take a pass.
When we walked in the hostess told us we don’t take reservations, I don’t know why open table does this. Our server was great, but the menu was bar food at higher prices. Three dinners, three ice teas, and one desert not worth $74. Two were sandwiches and one jambalaya with a tea pot with the liquid, not a rue.
nice atmosphere, very good service. Menu choices were great. Food was either a bit bland, or a bit spicey. might have ordered the wrong thing for me. My husband loved the oysters and his red fish. We will definitely try this place again.
The cocktails were great, the food was pretty standard. The service was very slow.
Very delicious food, the giant pretzel is a must-have! The beignets for dessert were awesome. All of our entrees were very good.
Open Table reservations don’t work at this establishment. System has been “down for the past 2 weeks.”
Everything was very salty. Thank u!
The food and drinks were great, but a little on the expensive side of things so just be prepared for a higher bill. No complaints on quality or service! It's definitely an easy place to sit back and enjoy good company.
Nice location. I thought the prices were a little high for the type and quality of the food. It is a very noisy environment that has more of the feel of a diner than a pub in terms of decor. Overall, my group enjoyed it though.
We arrived on time for our reservation and were immediately seated. Our waitress quickly took our drink orders, but the waiting began from there. Drinks took too long but were good. Appetizers arrived within a reasonable amount of time and were good. Unfortunately, our meals took an additional hour-plus and arrived cool. Not sure what was happening but it was clear that something was not right with the restaurant operation. A manager was very apologetic and did not make us pay for anything. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Food was only fair as was service. Somewhat inderwelming.
Out of the pretzel. Soup came out cold, had to send it back. Avocado missing on salad. Was not offered any discounts or free desserts for our experience.
I went with three colleagues from out of town for dinner. This place looked like it had the quintessential St Louis menu. Sadly, the food was the most disappointing part by far. I had a salad with grilled chicken which didn’t seem very fresh and the chicken was tough. One person got the jambalaya and it was way too salty for him to eat. The toasted ravs seemed frozen and cooked in the microwave, and the Saint Louis style pizza was definitely the star of the evening... it’s a little hard to ruin pizza. Also the wings were tough and the oysters were not great (tasted fishier than I like). That’s it for the bad. The outdoor area was really nice and my favorite part was the friendly service. The cocktails looked great but I didn’t have any.
My food was great -- but the service was poor. We went for brunch, and it took multiple requests to get coffee/beverage refills. All of our checks were incorrect.
Went late Sunday morning for brunch. Great service, food and sitting in the covered (but open) patio, we were able to people and dog watch. It was a fun meal.
