What does modern, ingredient-driven mean? It’s a different approach to dining and drinking that arose from the way we like to eat. When we go out, we like to try many things, and often we will order an assortment of dishes for the table so we can all taste as much as possible. We get excited when we experience different approaches to food and different styles of drinks. The central theme to our quest; enjoy high quality ingredients that have been skillfully handled to allow the intrinsic quality, flavors, and textures to be expressed. Above all, it is our goal to offer all things delicious.

We’ve been dining at 1760 since it opened 3 years ago. Always superb! Service, wine, cocktails & expert preparation of food makes it a regular gem for us. Many business dinners there as well. All sorts of taste preference friends who all love the food & experience. Great staff & careful chef oversight with superb food-friendly cocktails & wine come together consistently at 1760 to make it a terrific value.
Sleek modern restaurant with great bar. I would define the food as modern American. The food is a little bit overdone for my liking (a lot happens on the plate with very strong flavors and sauces prevailing), but generally good.
Overall this is a very good place, with good cocktails, a good wine cart and nice service. I would definitely go back
I perused the menu prior to dining there, so I already had some idea of what I wanted to order. Definitely go with the steak tartare and uni bucatini. The tartare was prepared with aromatic herbs - it was so delicious that my husband and I ordered this TWICE. The uni bucatini was delicious as well but very rich, so you'll want to share this dish. Am looking forward to my next visit!
Innovative menu and a fun environment, with a well-curated wine list and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. Portions are generous and intended to be shared family-style, and the dishes were served with perfect timing for our table of five - which was a nice change from the irritating trickle of dishes that happens at typical tapas-styled restaurants. The food is very tasty, with the lamb steak and the spicy pork ribs being particularly memorable. The uni pasta was also well-liked by those of us with more adventurous tastes. The price points are on the higher side, but we found it reasonable for a San Francisco restaurant and the good quality of the food and service. Overall, it was the perfect choice for our post-holiday reunion of friends.
We had a really nice meal here. Interesting, well executed dishes with lots of flavorful veggies. The brussel sprouts were amazing! So was the uni pasta dish! I also had a great cocktail with compari ice cubes! It’s a bit dark and hipsterish but the service was really nice and welcoming. Would recommend and go back.
Food is terrific. Nice salad, verygood octopus, and really flavorful mushroom risotto. On the other hand, our bottle of wine was WAY too cold, even after decanting, even after 30 minutes. Might have been close to 50 degrees at the beginning -- should have been 55 minimum or better at 58-60 to serve. The wine was terrific after it warmed up, but they clearly have a wine storage issue. [Don't think that is true with wines by the glass, which the sommelier serves from a table with multiple bottles awaiting opening.]
We used to live in the neighborhood and this was our go-to place. Now we live in the East Bay and happily drive into the city for the great food at 1760. Friendly service and excellent cocktails round out the experience. Come hungry!
A good place for interesting food. Don't overlook the appetizers, which are very flavorful and well presented. Service was prompt, attentive and well coordinated among several people. Only thing to the contrary to say is one in our party wanted decaf coffee with the desert (which are nice, by the way) and none was available.
We were at the restaurant for Happy Hour which was fabulous. Everything we ordered was great including the Shisito peppers, lumpia, fried olives, Petrale Sole, ribs , chicken bites and the frozen flan desert was awesome. The service was friendly and efficient, the margarita was killer and the old fashioned hit the spot. This is my new favorite restaurant!
When I came here, my group and I got 4 small plates (tombo tuna crudo, smoked albacore, brussel sprouts, and parmesan truffle fries) and 2 big plates (scallops & pork ribs) to share among 3 and it was a good amount. the food was all delicious except the parmesan truffle fries - what we got was basically a bowl of plain fries with some parmesan on top. none of us tasted any truffle and i didn't even taste any salt. we ended sending that one back.
the other dishes were all delicious (although note that the small plates are very small, and even the 'big/bigger' plates aren't that big. but with the amount we had, we were satiated).
the service wasn't great. our waitress was really friendly and really knew the menu items; however, the service in the beginning was pretty slow. it took us a really long time to get our first plate and our wine (the table next to us sat down much later than us and got their wine before us. it seemed like they knew the guy bringing the wine and they were chatting while we waited..). i blame the slow service more on the guy in charge of the wine than our waitress.
it's also pretty loud in there, so can be hard to talk/hear.
Dined here with friends on my Birthday. We were seated promptly and the service was exceptional from beginning to end. There is a wonderful selection of small plates including the crispy chicken, truffle and parmesan fries, green farro, carrot salad and burrata salad with rosemary focaccia and we tried them all! Two of us had the Lamb New York Steak which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Dessert was amazing! Don't miss the Brown Butter Panna Cotta and the Frozen Leche Flan which was outstanding!
A big Thank You to all of our servers who never missed a beat. A special shout out to David Roby, 1760's rising star Sommelier, whose enthusiasm and knowledge of wine is contagious!
Thank you all for a special and memorable evening!
Great food, service and wines -- we had a wonderful meal at 1760. We tried six or seven dishes and all were really good. The smoked albacore on crackers was really amazing, as was the uni pasta. The wine list is excellent and the service could not have been nicer or more professional. Enjoyed meeting the chef when he came to our table. Looking forward to going back.
Went to 1760 with my colleagues as we were interviewing a candidate. We ordered cocktails, a bottle of wine appetizers to share and an entree and dessert each. Overall I think everyone enjoyed the experience. The service was friendly, and the restaurant felt relaxed but also had a nice fancy touch to it. The food itself was beautifully presented and in general really delicious. Highlights were definitely the scallops and the lamb steak entrees. Both memorable. We all noticed however that the portions were pretty small considering the expensive prices. We were pretty generous with our ordering and definitely did not feel full in the end. Also, the wine that were were recommended by the sommelier was a bit disappointing - it didn't have much depth or character at all, and fell a bit flat.
I would definitely return though!
We had dinner at 1760 last Saturday night and were seated early waiting for our friends to show. The view out the big picture window to Polk Street was filled with Halloween revelers. It was a highly amusing way to begin one of the best meals I have eaten in my beloved town of SF.
We all had appetizers, peppers, avocado toast, tuna, and the salad. Each appetizer was perfect in its own way and I would not hesitate to order any one of them again.
Our entrees too were excellent, scallops, ribs, octopus. ALL outstandingly flavor, texture, spices....simply stated...wonderfully perfect.
The room is spacious, the serving staff gracious, professional, stellar. I am hearing impaired and I asked for a quiet table..we were honored with a booth and it worked great...I could actually hear our friends. And that was a good thing...because they too are highly amusing.
It was a great dining night.
Thank You 1760.
I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars only because I liked the modern space and because it's not noisy unlike most of the restaurants in San Francisco. I would give less for the food. I did not like the bucatini with uni. They tasted bad and they were dry. My husband had grilled octopus and was more satisfied than me. Portions are too small and the waiter pushed us to share at least 2 plates for each person : total 8 plates ( we were 4 people). I let you imagine the bill. Their selection of wine is also very expensive. Expensive restaurant for what you get.
