We take our name from the Gin Act of 1751, created in Britain to curb the ‘Gin Craze’ during the early 18th Century. In an era when gin drinkers were known as; rogues, strumpets and vagabonds. Its a little calmer now- but we still welcome all of the above!
Enjoy food from our extensive Modern European menu, which includes stone baked pizza, a selection of hand made burgers, vegan dishes and of course our famous Halloumi fries.
Our cocktail menu is perfect for any fans of invention and intrigue- we've got an incredible selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails on offer with something to suit every taste. 1751 prides itself on being a fully accessible venue.

Was pretty much!
Unfortunate that we weren’t able to sit out (would have also been more covid friendly!)
Gin was great, food was average
The staff was friendly and the menu was simple but the food tastes good
Took almost an hour for our food to arrive with some bits missing. Staff were clearly stressed/disorganised and bickering constantly with each other. When the food did turn up I was just a bit of a let down
Had a great time at the restaurant yesterday. Staff were all so helpful and friendly. Didn’t have to wait for them to come over to us at all so was great service. We had booked for the Prosecco brunch so we were disappointed to find that they had run out of Prosecco as we were looking forward to that. It would have been helpful to be told in advance about that so that we could choose whether to go or not. However the staff and food made up for it so we all left very happy!
Food wasn’t worth the money, but drinks enviroment and location was great
Great staff and cute menu! Great selection of guns abs lovely salads!
Turned up for the brunch, restaurant decided to cancel it on the day with no notification
We were placed at a table separated from the main restaurant. We sat there for 30 minutes before someone took our drink order and again 45 minutes before we could order food. I eventually had to ask a random waiter to serve us and he moved us to a different table in his section. When the food finally came it was a total disappointment! This was our first experience back inside a restaurant in months and it was such a let down. Won’t be going back.
Poor service and bad food. Not a good experience
Made our first dinner inside together after lock-down such a pleasant experience.
Would come back!
Went to the restaurant with my flatmates for some food and drinks.
I guess the prices were typical for the area but the food (pizza) was unfortunately below average. The vegetarian pizza looked like a poor margarita even though it was supposed to be a special. The meat version had some slices of Salami on it but was soggy.
The starters were good though and the service was good as well.
Great attentive service. Hard to gauge ambience as we were outside but has a large indoor space and can imagine it would be busy during normal times. Food was good. Seem to specialise in gin but didn’t try any. Overall would definitely recommend for a catch-up with friends
Venue is good with pleasant, buzzy atmosphere however tables were very close together.
We had lunch on the last day before tier 3 kicked back in. The restaurant was quiet and therefore lacking a bit of atmosphere. The set lunch menu advertised in the window/ on social wasn’t available due to covid.
My gluten free allergy was catered for easily and the food was nice.
It was very quiet. Bottomless Prosecco with 2-course brunch is a steal, can’t get any better. A couple of times we had to wave to get attention of our waiter, but he was super sweet so we tipped him well.
We were really looking forward to this, as the website photos were enticing and the menu - including the drinks menu - looked right up our street.
Granted, we were in the middle of a pandemic, but signage as to the flow of people inside the restaurant was inadequate. Improved signs that could actually be read would have been preferable to staff telling us we were in the wrong place. Confusion reigned.
The food was merely ok. Some of it had to be sent back. In some cases we didn’t ask for a replacement.
The gin cocktails should have been the crowning glory but the staff didn’t actually manage to bring the correct combinations of flavours as requested. In the end, we gave up.
I would never go here again. I was embarrassed to bring my family here.
Great service and decoration. Great for cocktails.
The customer service I received from the server was exceptional. The vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. Would definitely attend again!
the food is avarage but great place to hang out with friends for drinks.
Better desserts are needed and it would be perfect. Sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble something like that!
