                              Always a great day at 1606! Service was excellent from the Host/Hostess greeting us and allowing us to seat early, the waitress and staff were exceptional. We will see you again! Thank you for helping us have a nice day with family.

                              I've eaten at Beauport/1606 at least a dozen times, and each time it was excellent. But Saturday the kitchen just didn't get it done. Apps were great (crabcake & curried cauliflower), then entrees were delayed quite a bit. My wife had a baked haddock casserole that was seriously bland; not sure what the 'topping' was supposed to be, but no flavor at all. I ordered the ribeye for $54. The waiter said it was 14 oz -- it definitely wasn't (probably closer to 10 oz.). I ordered it medium rare, and it came out closer to medium well. But even a very medium ribeye would still be somewhat tender, but whatever cut of meat this was it was very tough, hard to chew and plain dry. I was stunned. The manager ('Steve') came over and was very apologetic and gracious and didn't charge me for the steak. His only mistake was saying that it was "just a bit" over medium rare --- sorry; it was way over cooked and DOA at my table. I heard a waiter tell a group it was a "new" summer menu which is a lot smaller than the previous version with only 4 or 5 entrees. It's understandable that they would cater more to their hotel guests and general beach crowd. So, it makes 1606 a great stop with a great water view and great place to get creative apps, sandwiches and other delicious offerings. I will definitely go back at some time -- but will stick with lighter fare.

                              Beautiful restaurant right on the water with good food. Service was lacking. We stayed at the hotel for a birthday celebration and went to the rooftop bar, restaurant, and breakfast the next day. Dinner was the only ho-hum service we had (not terrible, but certainly not what I'd expect or have received at the hotel). The server wasn't attentive, we waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged, then another 10 minutes for drinks. Then suddenly she seemed to rush us through dinner.

                              We had a reservation for 1pm - we arrived a little early and were greeted and seated right away. Gus was our server. He was pleasant, attentive and personable. We enjoyed the fish & chips and the black & blue burger. We go there often and enjoy it every time. It’s a lovely summer treat.

                              Ambiance is great but this place is way overpriced. $35 for a couple ounces of fish. Expect to be underwhelmed.

                              1606 is a great spot in the Beaufort Hotel in Gloucester. Menu and food was excellent. We were there on a busy Saturday night on a holiday weekend but the service was still fairly quick. Beautiful views of Gloucester harbor as well.

                              My husband ordered a fried seafood plate and it was dry and a very small portion fish. I ordered the grilled salmon which is one of my favorites and it was “fishy “ tasting. My salmon was accompanied by mashed potatoes and a concoction of corn and unidentifiable other ingredients which were not flavorful. We were with another couple and their food was delicious, especially the veal Milanese. We dine regularly at 1606 and were extremely disappointed. Service could have been better as well ( crumbs left on table and needing to ask for water which was not cold. Don’t know if we will return.

                              Horrible!! Make a reservation but then find out it’s first come first served outside? Only to be told I have to wait to be seated outside? Unreal!! For these prices!!
