Great fish & Mac n cheese

Wonderful meal! Pretty sure the waiter was drunk, he reeled of alcohol at 5:30pm! The manager filled our drinks, 3 other waiters did everything else but take our order and bring our check (which is really all our waiter did). Our Waiter was nice, just made trips to one table then completed that task entirely ignoring everything else, couldn’t even ask if we needed refills as he passed right by our table and looked at all our empty glasses. Big Bummer on the service with such a delicious meal!

Beautiful dining room. The food and service were both outstanding.

When we first got there it was totally empty and we were concerned we had made a poor choice. Tim was amazing and went above and beyond to help us...he even helped us design our own charcuterie with items not on the menu!! Superb!! The pâté and waffles were out of this world!!

Sadly this did not live up to expectations -the service was pleasant and the complimentary bubbles on arrival for Valentine's Day was a nice touch. The room is lovely. Appetizers were decent but sadly the main courses really fell flat - felt like the kitchen had run out of steam. The Scallop and Pork Belly dish had zero pork belly - a few scraps of what looked like bacon but no pork belly. 2 people at the table had this dish and both were the same. This was strange as we had a pork belly appetizer which was chunks of crispy pork belly (perhaps they used it all up if that was the case we would have appreciated being told and would have ordered something else). The crab stuffed trout was cold in the middle and just - brown ... no seasoning, no flavor and the crab filling was pretty much mush. Steaks were ok, but overall everything was just blah.
We eat out in Savannah a lot and are never disappointed by this fun food city. With so many good restaurants to chose from I am sorry we took our friends from out of town to 1540 Room. I doubt we would give it another shot. Sorry.

Good place to eat! I wouldn’t mind going back. Is little fancy but overall I love the food and the location is in the hotel.

My husband and I went for Valentine’s dinner based on Opentable reviews. But our experience was just okay. The service was good but the food did not have much flavor. We left underwhelmed.

Food and service were amazing!! Noise level was perfect. Only complaint is that it was pretty chilly, but it was also empty, so that may have contributed. Overall, though, a great experience!!

Four of us dined at 1540 during restaurant week. We all enjoyed the food. My issue is how large and stark the dining room is. It lacks warmth and is devoid of charm. With so many other lovely restaurants in Savannah, I doubt I will go back.

After reading the reviews for this restaurant, I was a little nervous about going. But I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent service that our waiter Gary provided. The food was good but not great. Serving a pork chop with black-eyed peas was not very colorful but all in all I would go back again. The free valet parking was a plus.

Food was great. The restaurant has a lovely grand appeal. The service was a bit slow and confusing. Things came out at the wrong time and not together. And we were desperate for a refill of water! Hope the service improves!

Restaurant week meal. Overall, web enjoyed, but the food was not near the quality we were expecting. There was no theme to the food, meaning the flavors didn’t go together at all. The food lacked flavor and the flavor it did have was average. We were excited to go, but expects more.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time visit to this venue. Despite the problem I had contacting someone to enlarge my reservation from eight to fifteen, we found the food great and the room very nice. It is hard to judge about the noise level since we were the only ones there on a Thursday night. I suspect that with the bare walls and nothing to absorb some of the sound it could be bad. The only problem was the service was slow with only one young lady for the fifteen of us. She did have some occasional help from another young man. Overall a very satisfying dining experience.

We were here for dinner for 8 on Christmas Eve and had such an enjoyable evening that we wanted to return and try their 50 oz. Ribeye for two. We invited my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate their birthdays. We were again fortunate to have Gabby as our server. She and the rest of the team are wonderful and couldn't be more accommodating. We started with their famous Mystery Manhattans, a Kir Royale and a Pinot Grigio, along with Oysters Rockefeller and the Baby Beet Salad with Goat Cheese. The Ribeyes were grilled to perfection, as they say, and served on sizzling pans with their juices. The chef removes them from the bone and slices them so you can choose the pieces you would most enjoy - the best Steak in Savannah! After dinner we visited the Whiskey Bar and finished with a couple of Pappy Van Winkle scotches, and a delicious Tawny Port. Shane is an expert at making those Mystery Manhattans. You are assured that each one will be custom made with a quality bourbon, (you just don't know which one), but they're all finished with great vermouth, bitters and Luxardo Cherries, so you can never go wrong. Be sure to add the 1540 Room to your list of "must try" restaurants in Savannah. You won't be disappointed.

After reading positive reviews of this restaurant on this site and others, I confidently booked a group reservation to celebrate a special occasion. When we arrived, things seemed fine and our server greeted us and asked if we needed anything. We asked for water and started looking at the menu for drinks. Twenty minutes later, we fetched our own carafes of water. This was the way our experience continued.

It appeared the restaurant was short-staffed, as it took one hour to get our meals and no tables in the entire restaurant were cleared. By the time the food arrived, it was various temperatures. We asked our chewing gum-loving server what was going on and he said nothing. When we asked a manager what had happened (our group has food service experience so we were hoping to understand why the service was such high effort) and she said that she had received other similar feedback and would give us a discount. We saw several other seemingly stranded tables and watched many parties walk out after taking a look around.

Our group's consensus was that this restaurant probably usually provides a different kind of experience but we highly recommend taking a look around when you arrive. If things look suspicious go to your backup plan. If we had known that going to 1540 Room was going to result in a disappointing experience, we wouldn't have picked it for a celebration. Our service was so slow we managed to have a two-hour dinner with only one round of drinks. If the food had been served when it was prepared, it would have been delicious but we received cold soup that should have been hot and the pork belly and scallops featured cooled meat.

However, if you are in the market for breaking up with someone in Savannah over an hours long dinner, I would highly recommend 1540 Room as the venue for this moment. It will at least give the other patrons something interesting to watch while they wait for a server to notice them.

Don’t overlook this solid option. Worth the effort. No crowds to compete with and little noise as well. Bring your whole group/family for a perfect ladies/guys night out. Great specials but the main menu is also solid.

We came here with a group of people for New Year’s eve. I will start off by saying this restaurant is in a beautiful hotel and has a very nice atmosphere. We were not very pleased with the service, our waiter was not good about checking up on us he also got the bill incorrect twice. The food was good but not anything to rave about. It was an ok experience.

My husband loved the foie gras with waffles so much, he said it was an explosion of flavors. His lamb chops were delicious but slightly overcooked. The stuffed trout was excellent and so was the chicken pot pie. The fried bread pudding is a must, just moist and crunchy and just fantastic. Our waiter was sweet but kind of a spazz.

Food was amazing by the chef. The rest of the experience not so much sadly. Hardly anyone was there (maybe because of the service) yet app plates came out wet yet still dirty with old food stuck on them. Drinks took forever to arrive. As did for another guest table next to us. Waiter forgot to serve soup we ordered.

Great food. Poor service. One waiter for the entire floor. Long wait for drinks, and things were forgotten because our waiter was so busy!

The manager was super attentive and replaced my meal at no charge. This place has great staff and the service is awesome. Food was good but has a little room for improvement. Scallops are on point!

We had reservations for 8 people at 5 PM on Christmas Eve. Gabby was our server. She was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional at coordinating our meal. We started with a variety of their signature cocktails, Prosecco and wine. For appetizers we enjoyed Crab Beignets, Oysters, Pate & Waffles, and the Beet Salad. Dinner included a wonderful variety of their entrees - Pork Shank Oso Bucco, Pork Belly & Scallops, Filet Mignon, Chicken Pot Pie, Pork Tenderloin and the vegetarian stuffed squash. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The atmosphere is also elegant, yet very comfortable. We will definitely return - perhaps to experience their 52 oz. bone-in Ribeye!

Thanksgiving dinner was disappointing as our server didn’t seem to want to be there and then one of two meals arrived inedibly not warm-and then it took a long time to bring a hot meal. Nothing I’d expect of a highly rated Dining room.

Chefs were approachable very kind

Disappointing, this was supposed to be our nice night out. Service was awful, server was very sweet but had zero training or experience. There were 2 other servers, a manager and a hostess and maybe 6 tables. One decent server could have covered the entire room. We had to ask for our appetizers, we had to remind the server about tea and water that had been requested, we had to ask about the specials. One diner was overlooked by the server, we had to ask her to take the order, then the order was not submitted. They added it later and still got the order wrong. They did remove that entree from the bill. The food was ok, the room was nice but I would not recommend.

The food and service were amazing. The bellman at the adjoining hotel does not know where the restaurant is however. There was a child screaming for moments during our meal, but we did eat at 5:30, so that we couldn't really blame the restaurant. I had the Bouillabaisse and it was delicious. Very glad we went!

Amazing food and great service. This restaurant is inside a hotel which I think throws some people off but it shouldn’t. Once you’re in the restaurant there is no hotel feel at all. The food is all farm to table, fresh, and delicious! We’d go back in a heartbeat if we find ourselves back in Savannah.

Food and service were amazing. Great atmosphere. Gary was our waiter and was attentive without being annoying. His recommendations were spot on. Will definitely be back.
