1515 Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
1515 was excellent. The food had incredible and distinct flavor. We were seated quickly and served quickly. Our server was wonderful. The owner was gracious enough to donate two meals to us to bring back to our troops serving on Thanksgiving day at the Command Post at Buckley AFB. Overall it was an outstanding experience and I would recommend it to everyone!
My friend and I went to 1515 for Thanksgiving dinner. We arrived at 12:30 and were greeted with a warm and friendly, "Welcome to 1515 and Happy Thanksgiving." The hostesses couldn't have been nicer. Our waiter was delightful. He took very good care of us, even though things were rather hectic because of the holiday crowd. We opted to go for the $18.00 traditional turkey dinner, skip the ala carte salads and desserts, and have pumpkin pie at my house after a movie. SO, we had an absolutely amazing turkey dinner for under $20 before tip. The stuffing was wonderful, both white and dark meat were provided, mashed potatoes were moist and tasty and REAL cranberries. GREAT fresh bread with herbed butter. I would highly recommend 1515.
My family went for our thankgiving meal. The ambiance was perfect. Our waiter was unable to answer questions about the menu and he continued to argue with me as I asked questions,he was in a hurry. The food portions left us all hungry. The dining room was cold, though the dining area was perfect in regards to design and layout. My husband, who is a private chef, concluded that most of the negative qualities of the restaurant were created by the chef. I was sooooo disappointed, we come from the east coast and were so hoping to find an adequate restaurant in Denver. We all concluded we will not go again. Way over priced for the lack of positives in the dining experience.
The Thanksgiving turkey meal was very bland except for the mashed potatoes. The white meat was dry and the dark meat was very chewy. However the Butter Squash soap was very good and flavorful. The service was very good and our server very attentive. This was still a very enjoyable meal.
I would return and taste their regular menu. I have heard good things about this retaurant and would want to give it a fair appraisal.
There was a big conference in town and several large parties were seated around us so our waitress was pretty busy. My daughter chose the only vegetarian options and they were both disappointing. The beet salad had a few chopped golden beets but was mostly frisee with a smear of red beet puree on the plate (should be called the frisee salad!) Her entree was soba noodles with "scallops" made of tofu---extremely salty and inedible. She should have sent it back but because the restaurant was so busy, we didn't want to waste our time. Also we ordered a bottle of wine, and it wasn't until we had finished our first courses that they told us they were sold out of that wine. The bad veggie dish was not attributable to how busy they were.
Our second visit to 1515 was very disappointing compared with our first. The dishes were poorly executed although they sounded good on the menu. The pairing of Opah with roasted mushroom, cherry tomato and eggplant was an overcooked rubbery disaster. The lamb was not particulary tender given the stated cooking method and accompanyments were fair. Service started okay, but our server dissapeared as the restaurant filled and we were winding down our meal. Neither the kitchen nor the front of house is hitting the mark.
Horrible food. Soup had zero flavor. We both had the croissant soup and it was like having a bowl of floured cream. I didn't finish it. Then my husband had the buffalo strip loin and it had no flavor. It was completely bland and chewy. The sides did not compliment the dish at all. He has a huge appetite and he did not even get half way through. The waiter was very pushy and he seemed liked he wanted us in and out so he could turn the table fast. He was not pleasant or patient. He had zero table side manor and really didn't seem to care AT ALL. We really felt rushed the entire meal by the four different people that were coming up to our table every five minutes. The food was extremely overpriced for the quality and very amateur.
I enjoyed the experience of this restaurant. I really like the decor and the ambiance alot--very comfortable. I like that the owner comes around and checks things out too.
The food was very good and the food presentation was fabulous. I love feeling like i am eating at food network! The sea bass is quite exceptional and i would highly recommend it. The service was good without being overwhelming. It was all good!
I was intrigued with 1515 but I am going to have to try a few more things because I wasn't blown away. I do love the adventurous menu and will definitely be back.
Our waiter Johnathon really stood out and made the experience memorable. He was very knowledgable and excited about the menu and the wine.
What a special evening. We very much enjoyed Chuck James' new fall menu. The duck confit was delicious and we very much enjoyed our first experience with fantastic lamb cooked soux vieu style. So tender and flavor was the best ever.
Eloy was a fantastic waiter and we so enjoyed our time with him. Owner Gene Tang stopped by our table and we enjoyed sharing "foodie" stories with him.
Just a grand evening all in all. We will certainly be back soon.
Every time we visit Denver we make a point to eat here and it has never disappointed. The service is excellent and the food is simply unbelievable. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for and you'll pay good money to eat here but it's worth every penny.
While the food and the ambiance was okay, the waiter and owner must have stopped by the table and asked how everything was at least 20 times over the course of a one hour lunch, and then it took them 10 minutes to bring change for the bill. It became less attentive and more annoying with each interruption of my conversation. It's not anywhere that I'll be returning again soon.
After a miserable dinner the night before at a trendy DTC steakhouse, 1515 was exactly what we were looking for. The dishes reflected a major effort by the chef to bring creativity to his dishes. This was a real life saver for me, as I had two higher ups with me for the dinner, and they were also very happy with their meals.
The food at 1515 was incredible. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful and helped guide us through the menu pointing out some of his favorites. This was really helpful because everything on the menu sounded really good. This was hands down the best meal I have had in Denver.
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner here with friends and had a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding, the food remarkable, and the wine list even better. The owner came by to visit with us and when we told him we were celebrating a special occasion, he soon brought us a card signed by all the staff along with a complimentary glass of port.
The location is an easy walk from Union Station, so we didn't have to even consider parking.
High marks for 1515; we'll be back.
We were amazed at the quality of both the food and the presentation. We both tried the watermelon salad, my dinner companion had the buffalo strip loin and I had the Colorado lamb, and we shared the chocolate tasting for dessert. The flavors blended perfectly in every dish, some of the combinations of ingredients were unexpected but worked well together. Excellent wine list also. This is our new favorite restaurant.
Chef James and Chef Brown presented a well rounded locally focused menu that impressed us food lovers. Clean and unique flavors. Each course got better and better. The highlight of the night? PB & J Torchon - a unique treatment to Foie Gras that the diner knew the chef's in back were having fun!
We were only 1 of two tables that evening..where is everyone else? Wait staff was very attentive and the maitre d' were there to explain all the dishes...you need this because their plates are cutting edge cuisine. Different for sure. Scallop appetizer was outstanding.
I have had several enjoyable meals at this establishment and often choose to have business dinners here because of the creativity of the dishes. While still good, the meal was a bit disappointing. It was as though the drive for creativity had a negative impact on the result. The deserts were particularly disappointing. I'll be back again and hope I experience selections that are more consistent with what this restaurant has consistently produced in the past.
First time here. My wife and I were both "happy campers". The service was very good and we appreciated the owner coming over to chat with us. My wife usually gets a dogie bag, but her seabass was so good and the portion just right that she cleaned her whole plate. I had the buffalo strip loin that was done exactly as I ordered and it was excellent.
One of the most unique restaurants downtown. Chef is given extreme range in using molecular gastronomy techniques and rare ingredients. Great care is taken to choose the best fruits and vegetables that are grown organically, and meats that are caught in the wild or raised in the very best way.
The reason we came here was to experience Sous Vide cooking. It did not disapoint! The food was absolutely perfect, the service was outstanding, the manager came and spoke with everyone and made sure they were having a great time. He even brought us a glass of port on the house! Greatest experience i've ever had at a restaurant, and the best dinner i've ever had in my life. It's worth it!!!
You would think a restaurant that has been open this long would lose it's edge. Not this one, it was impressed with energetic service and personality of the staff. They had the perfect level of involvement. THe food was out of this world. The presentation was unique and entertaining. Beef cooked table top on a crazy hot rock...really impressive.
Our first experience at 1515 was a mixed bag. We loved the decor, ambiance, seating, and the menu looked very appealing for foodies - creative dishes made from mostly Colorado grown food. We were not overly hungry so we split a salad and each had an entrée. The salad had a little too much sweet balsamic dressing to counter the slightly bitter arugula. I had the Sous Vide Colorado lamb, and the meat was excellent. however the crab hash side was bland potatoes with no taste of crab and the cauliflower puree was a little too earthy tasting for me - but then I'm not a fan of cauliflower. My partner had 3 styles of duck which was mostly good but the compressed apples were way too sour. We'll try again when the menu changes.
We did the seven course tasting with wine paring. It was an overall "very good experience". The food was great and was well balanced with the wines. The service was outstanding. Why not outstanding overall? Did not see the value in the wines. I would recommend doing the food tasting without the wine paring and just get a nice bottle of wine on the side. Will recommend and will definitely go back.
