Excellent food.Excellent service!!!
2 1/2 hr and 5 courses of amazing food!
Wonderful experience! Even for a less adventurous eater, I recommend it. When items are well prepared as they are here, everything tastes great.
Pricy but worth it. Beautiful view of the ocean , excellent service and great food with creative presentation.
Spectacular
Worth every penny
Dinner we will never forget!
By far, this was one of the best dining experiences ever!
Too many times you go to a 5 star and are disappointed lately. 1500Ocean does not fit this bill. Service is spectacular, food was incredible and the Ocean View and setting at the Del make this well worth the visit!
Upscale hotel restaurant, about 200 a couple with 2 standard drinks, a shared salad and a shared desert and 2 main courses
Beautiful location. Very good food; great service
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there. Due to the time, traffic condition, and where we were coming from, we drove to this location one hour before the reservation. We parked in self parking where it was $5 for the first 3 hours with validation. It was a little chilly outside so we sat near the window but inside. We are not heavy alcohol drinkers, my wife hardly drinking any alcohol. I ordered the 3 piece taster which include one item from group one or two, one item from group three and four. I was starring mostly at the big meat dishes in group 4 since they were expensive but that price was $80 flat for the whole set. My wife ordered one item a la cart. We shared everything. It was beautiful and delicious. The lamb was smaller than I had imagined but it enough and tasty. Our server Bret delighted us with a sparkler at the end, on the house. And my wife's watermelon cocktail Virgin was very refreshing. The whole hotel and area was beautiful.
Very enjoyable dinner. Our waiter Paul was friendly and jovial.
Fabulous food and service. Definitely a great experience.
A little pricey, but you pay for the location. The service is phenomenal though and the food is pretty good. Coronado is an expensive area and the Hotel Del is the most expensive gem on the island. It's definitely a must and should be experienced.
Special place and meal! The food was excellent and so was the view. Oysters with the dry ice and champaign was exceptional. Armando was our waiter and he was charming and provided excellent service. I believe he has been there for 41 years! take time to walk around the property.
Incredible restaurant and meal. We extended our compliments, personally, to the chef.
3 course menu is the way to go for $70++Serving portion is just right. Choice of one appetizer, main course and dessert. The duck breast is not to be missed.
Only thing i can say is OUTSTANDING!!!! What more do you want me to say.
We were very excited to read that Chef Ponsaty was back in the southern part of San Diego. We really enjoyed his talents when he was at Loews in Coronado.
The Hotel Del has a patchy history with their 1500 Ocean restaurant sometimes amazing and sometimes disappointing so we thought finally they have a chef that can wow every time.
We ate here on a weekday, at 6pm. So not a busy time. The waiter whom we have had many times before was distracted and hurried. Would ask a question and start walking off expecting us to answer as he walked off. Cutlery was just dropped into place. Definitely not the usual for this place. 3/4 of the room was empty.
The food itself was good. Beautifully presented but RIDICULOUSLY TINY. We did not have the five course tasting menu which you would expect to be tiny. These were supposed to be full size portions. I had lamb, which was perfectly cooked. It came with a quarter of a very small potato. I mean really small. The sauce was very beautifully arranged but such tiny little dots of decorative color that it was too small to detect flavor. Fortunately the bread was good or we would have left very hungry. I love fine dining but this meal was food as art rather than a delicious special occasion meal. My husband and I had one cocktail each, I had one glass of wine. We had the three tiny courses. $240 without the tip. Totally overpriced. If you'd like an excellent meal go to Bertrandos at Mr A's or George's at the Cove. We are crossing this one off for good.
Food was delicious. A little pricey - we did the 3-course menu with wine pairing. Service was excellent. Overall great.
It was our anniversary and we really enjoyed our time at 1500 Ocean. The service was excellent, Mark made our experience wonderful! The food was just perfect, we tried the albacore Tahitian tartare, the beets salad, the halibut and the lamb shank. Highly recommended for special occasions.
The ambience was awesome our waiter was fantastic his name is John. The presentation of the food was excellent. The prices were pretty darn high but for a special occasion it was definitely a great experience.
Outstanding food. Superb service. Quality drinks. Great environment and atmosphere. Our waiter last Friday night was very attentive-think his name was Phil.
Server was excellent. Food was good. Very expensive. Only issue was that we had a relatively late reservation and there were plenty of better located tables but we were stuck back in the corner. This is a neat hotel and it is worth it just to walk through the lobby.
My family and I were looking for an entertaining dining experience which, for us, means interesting food prepared with care and served beautifully. 1500Ocean provided all that. Lovely setting made it that much better.
I took my wife on our wedding anniversary. The food was superb, the service excellent. It is expensive, so not a place for casual affairs, but very good for special occasions.
unmemorable for a high price
Absolutely suberb in every way! Magnificent setting; complete with beautiufl sunset. Food was perfect. Simply a lovely dining experience.
Great food. Great 3 course deal.
Although the location of 1500 Ocean is beautiful the food and cocktails were poor. The prices were waaaay over priced for what we received. My husband and I have been all over the country and have dined at some of the most expensive restaurants and they have all lived up to the expectation. 1500 Ocean did not in our opinion. The portions were minuscule and the prices large. Had the flavors been “out of this world” then we could have accepted the high prices. However, the food was simply just so-so. Weird! We thought we’d have a true dining experience but it was a major fail. We each had 2 cocktails that were also just okay. It’s a shame! Staying at the Hotel Del Coronado and dining at their famous restaurant goes down as one of our least favorite weekend getaways. Good luck!
Wonderful food, superb service, and a great location!! We really enjoyed the mix of flavors and textures in each of our meals - the grilled octopus was a particular standout. Even though the evening was cool, there was enough warming torches to keep things comfortable on the outside patio, and dining with the sounds of the pacific in the background was spectacular. While expensive, the meal and experience was definitely worth it.
1500 Ocean is perhaps San Diego’s only Michelin star quality restaurant. The food, wine, service, and surroundings were all noteworthy. We enjoyed the five course tasting menu and found every selection to be well prepared and beautifully presented. The beet salad (including wonderful beet ice cream), the octopus, and lamb courses were particularly well conceived and executed. The wine list featured a large selection of familiar wines at very reasonable prices. Services was good, though perhaps not quite as personable and interactive as might be expected for a restaurant of this quality. 1500 Ocean is definitely worthy of a return visit.
Waiter was top notch with wine pairings and in friendly conversation with my wife and I.
The worst Valentine day in 50 years. 125.00 per person priced fixed. Really bad selections. During dinner 33 Navy Helicopters flew over head. The worst. And I mean worst 550.00 wine food and tip ever spent . Seriously, Lobster carpacio with chunks bigger than a soup spoon? Great bottle of wine though. Other than that. Run, run Forest run.
Had a great time. Best beet salad and rack of lamb I’v ever had!
Very expensive with mediocre food I took guests to celebrate two birthdays. They gave us a delicious cream brullet with a candle for each bday guest.
Great tasting menu deal
Everything was wonderful, the service, the ambiance and the food.
We arrived fifteen minutes before our reservation time, and the place was deserted. A janitor said come back at 5:30( our reservation time). Waiter was Leo. Described the pricing of the restaurant week procedure vs. the full menu, but didn’t describe any of the dishes. Portions were micro-small. Taste was fair. Value was poor.
Amazing experience!
We celebrated our anniversary in this beautiful place.
The service is great and the food is really good.
