Service was attentive but a bit awkward. Some of the sashimi was fantastic while some were very mediocre. Overall a pleasant experience but definitely not worth the price for what you get.
I am holding this place to a different standard due to the high price and reputation. So with that said, for the price there are many better options. the presentation of omakasi was poor and the fish was pretty good not amazing. The hostess was very pleasant and the best part of the experience.
Mediocre food. Overpriced. Terrible service, rude and no regard for customers. Went their for dinner on Friday night and shortly after I left I realized I had left my phone at the table and went back to get it and the hostess and manager refused to get my phone from the table because they said they did not want to bother the people that were seated at the table and told me to come back the next day. We spent a few hundred dollars for dinner and yet they treated me very badly. will never go back and would definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
They have the best sushi and gyoza I’ve ever had in NY.
No restaurant should be judged on the Amateur Night of Valentine’s Day. But 15 East has mastered the drill, removing guesswork with a stellar prix fixe six-course tasting menu. No misses, and lots of hits.
We'd been wanting to try 15 East for a while, based on the generally excellent reviews, and finally got around to it. We had the larger sashimi platter, and the variety and quality of the fish were wonderful. I was impressed that there were three different varieties of uni available, and several other fish that are generally not offered at most Japanese restaurants. Everything about our meal was excellent, and we'll surely return soon
THis is the best sushi restaurant in NYC. Period. The Sommelier knows sake like no other place in the USA. My wife and I are in love with this restaurant and love coming back every 2 weeks
Definitely not worth the price paid for sushi omakase. You'll get much better food and better selection of fish at other Japanese restaurants. Will not recommend this place.
Incredible sushi of the very best quality. Beautiful dining room. Great staff. Special dinner
Restaurant did not honor a birthday special occasion in terms of table location. Poor hostess and overall management of the evening.
I love the lobster risotto! Strongly recommended!
The setting is chic.
I had eaten at the restaurant before but never at the Omakase sushi bar. The hostess called me after I booked a table and told me the sushi bar option opened and I was happy to try this style of dining. The chef, sommelier and waiter were attentive and gave suggestions commensurate with our tastes-they brought us extra ginger and never pressured us to order more alcohol then we wished to order. The fish was superb-as was the sushi chef.
Of course the Omakase can be pricey and it was but for this one time it was well worth it.... a memorable dining experience
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The Omakase is incredible and well worth a visit just beware it can get pricy.
Superb fresh food, attentive service and nice overall vibe.
Amazing sushi in a tranquil setting. expensive, but worth it.
Clean, beautiful sushi and sashimi, in a quiet, cushy environment. The more you tell the staff about your preferences, the better your meal and experience will be. The medium tuna, not regular or fatty, is sublime, Arctic char, scallops, uni, and more pure silk. Just sublime. Coconut lime ice cream is a terrific finish,
Excellent chef omakase! Will definitely come back
Great food but overpriced. Many other great sushi places in the city for much less. Good place to try rare and unique fish, but will cost you.
Was dissapointed since the menu has changed since our last visit in December 2016. There was a Foie Gras plate in the menu that was removed and that was my favorite plate
Everything was excellent food-wise as was the service but they rushed us out after the chef’s tasting menu. I was with two friends from Europe who thought that was uncouth. Considering the price point, I don’t completely disagree. The tasting menu is necessarily a lengthy meal, so they should stagger reservations to accommodate.
Solid spot!! The sushi and all the meals are fresh you can taste and feel the quality! Some interesting combos on the menu too and unique entree’s. Def recommend if you like sushi in particular their hamachi app and the scallops entree. Dessert can be avoided here though.
The fish here was some of the best we’ve ever eaten. Simple, understated spectacular food. Lovely dining room.
It was amazing to have a meal and celebrate birthday there! Main chef was amazingly kind and fun to teaching us all those fish kinds that we had! Definitely want to visit again. They also provided us complimentary desserts for celebrating birthday with them :) great experience and high quality sushi!
The coat check woman was not happy that we held onto our coats and she gave us the stare down as we waited to be seated. And she kept trotting by our table in an angry way. One of the diners had an engagement ring in his coat so he didn't want to check it and she was so rude about it. Sort of got in the way a bit
A truly magnificent dining experience with superb sashimi and creative dishes served by very attentive wait staff who are accommodating and knowledgeable. Pricey but special
Good atmosphere but too expensive for food and drink. Not that worth it. Omakase was ok but too small and very normal not special. Just pay more and go better restaurant
Not the *best* sushi in NYC, but pretty close (and easier to get a reservation here). I go every few months, and I'm never disappointed.
This place is amazing. The sushi is outstanding.
Amazing omakase and experience. Definitely a little pricey but worth every dollar.
Great as usual. This sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in NYC. Expensive but just as good as any where else without the hubbub.
