Everything was excellent food-wise as was the service but they rushed us out after the chef’s tasting menu. I was with two friends from Europe who thought that was uncouth. Considering the price point, I don’t completely disagree. The tasting menu is necessarily a lengthy meal, so they should stagger reservations to accommodate.

Solid spot!! The sushi and all the meals are fresh you can taste and feel the quality! Some interesting combos on the menu too and unique entree’s. Def recommend if you like sushi in particular their hamachi app and the scallops entree. Dessert can be avoided here though.

It was amazing to have a meal and celebrate birthday there! Main chef was amazingly kind and fun to teaching us all those fish kinds that we had! Definitely want to visit again. They also provided us complimentary desserts for celebrating birthday with them :) great experience and high quality sushi!

The coat check woman was not happy that we held onto our coats and she gave us the stare down as we waited to be seated. And she kept trotting by our table in an angry way. One of the diners had an engagement ring in his coat so he didn't want to check it and she was so rude about it. Sort of got in the way a bit

Good atmosphere but too expensive for food and drink. Not that worth it. Omakase was ok but too small and very normal not special. Just pay more and go better restaurant

Not the *best* sushi in NYC, but pretty close (and easier to get a reservation here). I go every few months, and I'm never disappointed.

Great as usual. This sushi restaurant is a hidden gem in NYC. Expensive but just as good as any where else without the hubbub.

This was my first visit and I'll return. The standard sushi was very high quality, the blue tuna appetizer innovative and excellent, the service attentive. This restaurant is expensive but worth it.

I went to have omakase at the sushi bar for the first time while I was visiting NYC. I sat at the sushi bar and received excellent service. Chef Taka was very friendly and informative. He was enthusiastically showing me and telling me about the different fish he was serving me if I was not familiar with it. The presentation of the fish itself was beautiful and prepared carefully. The quality of the fish was very good and I had a great experience for my first time having traditional omakase. My favorite part of the meal was the bonito which has such a deep flavor to it. The uni I was served was from Hokkaido and Maine. The uni were both beautiful in color. He also had uni from Santa Barbara but I did not choose to try this one. I was extremely surprised by the pickled ginger and Anago because I usually dislike both these things. However, the ginger was pickled to be light and refreshing without being overpowering. The anago was very soft and easy to eat. Chef Taka was so kind as to give me a tofu milk dessert that came with a sweet syrup. This experience was definitely one I would recommend to others to try. I especially recommend sitting at the sushi bar and conversing with Chef Taka. The only reason I am not putting 5 stars is because I feel that the quality or the certain preparation for specific types of fish could have been better in comparison to other omakase prices.

Quite good, with impeccable service and lovely ambiance, though it seemed unnecessarily expensive. One of those places that seems expensive for the sake of being expensive. The sushi was no better than many other places that are significantly cheaper. Drastically better places like Yasuda are not much more expensive and service larger nigiri. Enjoyed our dinner and glad we went but probably would not return.

Terrible!!! Food was not worth the money. Sub par service. Plates were either tasteless or too salty. Poor quality truffles with no aroma of truffles. Trying too hard - using too much foam and miso. I would not recommend this place.

We had sushi. Chose the 10 piece. Pretty ordinary. Tuna, salmon, avg stuff.
The uni flight was good.

Everything was good. Just nothing super special. And at this price it should be.

Sushi of Gari is much more inventive at this kind of price.

Restaurant gave us at Sushi counter Bar, in stead of table. Food at Bar counter is much better than table because of its freshness and conversation with sushi chef. Table is still very good, but if have a chance to take a bar counter, it will be excellent.

the tasting menu was "good food and good value". a little disappointed on the service we received - the waitress was somewhat absent minded: we were not even offered a cup of tea. this is a Japanese restaurant, right? towards to the end of our meal, a manager came up and asked, do you care for a cup of tea?

other than that, it was a nice restaurant...

15 East always delivers-one of a handful of the top Japanese restaurants in town (plus a Michelin star). Master sushi Chef/Sushi bar is adjacent to a small chic minimalist dining room that offers a variety of exquisite Japanese culinary offerings among them NYC's best cold soba noodles & homemade tofu.
