The food was amazing! We celebrated my birthday lunch and they gave me a complimentary dessert. It was a cheesecake like none I've had before. VERY delicious with chocolate and caramel sauce.
I had the taco salad. As I said the food is amazing and not your typical Tex-Mex. Will definitely go back
We had friends in from Texas, and made a reservation on Saturday at 5:30pm, for 7:30pm that night, for 4ppl.
Apparently it was prom night and they had the big room full of kids...
We waited for a good 15 minutes before anyone came to the hostess stand. Bar was full, but there were visibly open tables -so it didn't seem unmanageable.
After being seated, another 15 minutes went by and my husband decided to go to the bar for 4 beers. He was totally ignored there also.
We finally flagged down someone busting tables and got waters.
The entire dinner followed this trend. Orders were wrong, food took forever....
Server explained that they were shorthanded. And they sat a large table of 30 people, after we sat.
My biggest question is(as a restaurant manager): you know at 5:30pm that you are short -- why take the reservation at all? Save as much face as you can!
This was our favorite and now we don't plan on returning.
Absolutely love this place - great, unique dishes. HIGHLY recommend their incredible, super affordable brunch. If you love inspired Mexican food AND eggs 1492 is a must!
Staff is always so nice!! Food is consistently good.
Food was pretty good. Beef fajitas were great. Desert was not as impressive as description on menu. Our server was great! A younger guy, he did a great job. The initial guy greeting us was NOT friendly. I would go again for the fajitas and skip the desert.
Food was very good. If you are looking for a high value but good quality Latin American food then this is the place for you.
Unique Latin menu and all was deliciously prepared. Very attentive staff.
Hostess was not friendly and wasn't interested in our Open Table reservation. Food was OK but not great.
Very good food.
Great spot with delicious Latin as well as Tex Mex options. Creative menu!
We went for a birthday party of 6, everyone’s food looked and tasted delicious. The guacamole was wonderful, highly recommend. Drinks are reasonably priced. The bbq grilled shrimp was very good; 2 in our party ordered this dish and loved it. We will definitely return for more good food.
Overall mediocre food. I got the two duck tacos and they were pretty flavorless for being duck. It could've been pork for all I know. The chips were hot and the salsa had good kick which are both pluses. Husband got the blue cheese sauce steak tips which he said was good, but portion was on the small side. But overall would not think I would ever crave coming here. It was convenient that we didn't have to drive downtown to get nonchain-type food, but it really wasn't all that great. Not bad, just not great.
Disappointed with the lack of service. Seemed like one or two employees taking care of a full restaurant.
Queso was tasty. Chicken fajitas most likely not freshly prepared.
We were a party of 9, just family. The owner was so nice and let us use the back room which was perfect because we had a toddler and kids. And our waiter Edwin was fantastic, I would definitely ask for him again. And we will go again. By the way my husband had combination fajitas and the steak was delicious. Next time that’s what I am ordering.
Seemed to be a bit short staffed, which was unusual. They only appeared to have 2 maybe 3 people waiting on tables and one was also tending the bar. Our server was also the bartender, so she was quite busy. She did okay considering.
It was a great experience - better every time we go
We made a reservation for 8 adults but were seated at a table of six at the edge of the bar area because they confused two of the reservations that night. The manager seemed short and annoyed that I had an issue with being crammed at a small table. The suggestion that he had involved adding another table, along a diagonal wall, that would require some of our party to be behind us. We didn't take that suggestion and just cramped onto the one table. It would've been nice if he could have told us that he will seat us at the next available larger table, but he didn't. He also didn't make an effort to accommodate us or make our dinner anymore enjoyable. He didn't send an appetizer or apologize for their mistake. When our food came, the first two entrees that were set down were for another table. Two people had to wait before the correct food came out. We will not be returning to this location again. It has poor management and unorganized system of serving their guests.
Our food has always been delicious. Pedro has been our waiter more than once and is always very friendly and attentive.
Absolutely best Latin food in OKC - mole is to die for ❤️
Under staffed. Floor very dirty looking. Never offered a drink menu. Had to get one on my own and ordered a margarita. Did not get it until the main meal arrived. Could not taste any alcohol in it. It was basically an $8 mango slushy.
Don’t bother...the actual menu in no way resembles what you see online. They offer great sounding entrees like “beef or chicken” enchiladas.’ This place is tired, whoever owns it has given up. Time to close.
Great service and food was yummy!
1492 is our favorite place for unique Tex-Mex food! It never disappoints. The service is outstanding just like the food. They offer delicious cocktails too!
Great food and service. Highly recommend if want something a little different from tex-mex cuisine but like that type of food.
Seniors Sarah is an excellent waitress!!
The seafood enchiladas are unbelievable! I have had them twice now and it never disappoints. The chicken fajitas had so much flavor. The single portion is more than enough for two hungry people. We will certainly be back over and over again!
1492 on Britton has very good food and mediocre drinks in an environment that is less than desirable.
The main dining area is smallish yet wide open. There is a bench that runs the full length of one wall, and tables and chairs are situated all along the bench. Then there are a dozen or so tables interspersed around the dining area. You can hear your neighbors’ conversations with little effort, and I thought it was tough to carry on a conversation when people nearby were ordering. It was clean, and the decor is nice, but the setup is distracting for sure.
We had the fajitas. The steak fajitas were very good, and the chicken was a tad dry but tasty. The corn tortillas were fantastic. We also had a few drinks. My wife ordered the club special, and we sent it back. The margarita was decent, and the mojito was subpar.
All in all, 1492 was good but not great.
Wonderful food and a wonderful time
Best meal yet at this place
I love 1492! The service is exceptional and the food is amazing.
We split their double chicken fajitas and it was so much food. There was just two of us and probably 4 people could have split it. The chicken was very good. The queso blanco is good queso if you like white queso. We had them put ground beef in it. But it usually comes with chorizo...if you want it. Service was good and friendly.
This was our second time at this location. We had been here once before with the whole family and the food was not too great. But we decided to give it another shot and I’m glad we did. The fajitas were very good.
Although our server was tending bar for the entire restaurant she also was waiting our table for food orders as well. She remained cordial and attentive and patient while we made decisions. The food however we felt not up to the usual level of taste we had at the midtown location. The 1492 queso was not as flavorful as previously we enjoyed. My stuffed pork shoulder was cooked to a perfect tender quality but lacked any real pizzazz of taste. I salted it twice and also added some salsa to give it some life. Hubby reported his brisket taco was equally average. Too bad for this 2nd location of a restaurant we had enjoyed so much in the original spot. Maybe they need to revisit the original and get seasoning pointers?! I hope so. It’s always nice to see an expansion location do well.
