14 North Restaurant
We were from out of town and very pretty disappointed to say the least. The halibut was overcooked the first time and when it came back out a second time it was no better. The risotto was cold on three plates. Very disappointed to spend all that money and end up at stopping by the grocery store looking for something to eat.
We were informed that the dinner service might be 10-15 minutes longer than average due to staff shortages in the kitchen. The meal took 1 hour 45 minutes to arrive. This was beyond reasonable. Our wait person did offer 2 glasses of wine for free as a result. The food was decent but nothing is worth that long of a wait. This was a disappointing end to a weekend in Bozeman. We were hoping for a nice family outing with our son and it just got frustrating. You can do better.
This was our 3rd time here. We did not have the best experience the first 2 times but decided to give it another try since it had been a couple years. We each ordered somewhat pricey sirloin steaks for our meal. The meat itself was ok, but whoever prepared it slathered what tasted like sweet bbq sauce all over it along with the mashed potatoes. I would expect that kind of preparation from our teenage son, but not a restaurant. We both could not even eat the steak, and we are not THAT picky. I don’t think we will be eating there again.
Rory, the bartender and also our server was wonderful! Made feel like he’d known us forever!!
Hostess and waitstaff were very friendly and good. However, the restaurant seems to be in a state of being in business or not. They were out of 3 of the 4 things we requested. Ranging from drinks to main courses. It was strange. The ambiance is strange too. It’s like it was a bank lobby or country club that placed tables along the walls. I am in my 50’s and usually do not post negative reviews because what’s the point? However, there was just a strange vibe here. It must be poor management. The food that did arrive was just ok. I wish them well but I will not be back.
The service was very slow and not friendly. They were also out of hamburgers but didn’t mention that until we tried to order them. We wish we would have chosen another place for dinner.
First, we really appreciated the quietness. Perfect for intimate evening for folks who don't hear well. Rachel is an excellent waitress, and everything was lovely. Good wine - we split a house salad, expecting a "house salad" like you get other places. It was delicious and large! You were out of the lamb and gnocchi, so I got the baseball steak, which was perfectly cooked. My husband got the king salmon, and it, too, was perfect, with a light crunchy layer on the bottom - delicious! We celebrated my birthday there, and will think of other things to celebrate soon. Thank you!
Since we had a reservation, I would expect that our table would have been set for 6, not 4. We requested more place aettings then had to ask for more menus. Slow service even though we were one of the first tables sat for the evening. Had to take our bill up front to pay because waitstaff did not pick up. We were not in a hurry, but we were there there for three hours which was longer than expected. That being said, the food was good.
14 North is a wonderful restaurant. Seemed the food took a while to come out but we all had a great time visiting while we were waiting. Server was very attentive. Atmosphere was great.
Great food and service. Excellent wine list at very fair pricing
Food was just okay!
Root salad is on task, albeit a bit small for dinner portion. I'd added salmon which was done well. Burgers are very lean, good quality. Overall a nice dinner - service was attentive and got us out the door in an hour so we could make it to the concert in time. Convenient location to campus, too.
My favorite place to grab dinner in bozeman! Never disappointed!
I had the patriot steak and it was HORRIBLE. i could barely get my knife threw it - it was so incredibly tough and had zero flavor. the Caesar salad was just cut up into tiny strips of lettuce with very very little dressing on the top- basically just plain lettuce. Peanut butter creme brulee for dessert - not good at all. Really a disappointing birthday dinner
Ceaser salad was very dry. The chicken on the salad was very dry also. Had to ask for more dressing. Dressing was salty. Everything else was okay.
Cheese board was great; entrees were lackluster. Would return for drink s and appetizers but not for dinner.
The food was good and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation. The service was very poor, however. Wait for food was extremely long and it was cold when it arrived. Drinks weren’t filled and orders were confused. We may have had an inexperienced waitress. She spent quite a bit of time chatting at the hostess station. I’m willing to give them another chance but first impressions were lacking.
We had a wonderful time with family and friends. The filets were cooked to perfection. Our server, Sabrina was the best!
The food was beyond memorable and the wait staff was very down to earth and attentive. The ambience was very classy, warm and inviting. You won’t regret this choice!
We enjoyed the food but the service was marginal at best.......
Food was just okay and not that great of a value. Service was good.
Slightly limited menu. Otherwise very good food. Great service.
The menu was innovative. I loved the bacon wrapped figs. The service was attentive.
My husband and I popped in for a quick bite last Saturday night and had a wonderful meal. Darien took really good care of us. We ordered an appetizer and the salmon entree and it was cooked to perfection with a delicious flavor. Next time we visit Bozeman I hope to pay a visit to 14 North again !!
Nice location with good parking. Lots of room inside with good service the food was good but not great
Excellent filet - served with just the right sauce and sides. Perfect! Quiet, comfortable and great service. I always bring my out of town guests here because I know I can depend on 14 North to consistently deliver an excellent dinner in a a very pleasant atmosphere.
We had an early dinner. Food was quite good and the waitress very friendly and attentive! Our son did a crayon drawing of a rainbow trout and asked whether it could be displayed on the fridge door in the kitchen (where we saw already another kid‘s drawing hanging): the waitress was more than happy about this piece of art! ;-)
We enjoyed excellent service and delicious food at this beautiful restaurant. The tortellini and root vegetable pasta, filet special, cast iron chicken and baseball filet were all on point and our server was wonderful. I wish we had saved room for dessert because the menu looked divine.
Great service. Hit and miss food. All four burgers came well done when we ordered them medium rare to medium. They’ve been better in the past. Other meals in our group looked good. Probably give 14 North another chance.
This was the first time I've eaten at 14 North and was disappointed. With an out-of -town guest
we were the only ones seated in the otherwise empty dining room. My baseball steak had a sauce that
was overly sweet, although it was cooked to perfection. The plating was a sloppy on both my entree and my guest's meatloaf plate. Although the waitress was personable and helpful, because we were the only ones in the dining room - and seated in the furthest back table - we had to get up to get her attention.
Good atmosphere, staff was friendly, food was great. Will go back.
Portions have gotten very small. Used to be a decent value, unfortunately not anymore
My daughter and I went for Fathers Day dinner, the steaks were delicious. The young female bartender was excellent, very personable and friendly. We had a great experience and will be coming back soon.
The wait staff at 14 North was excellent but the food was rather average. We got our Caesar salads very quickly but it took a long time to get our steaks. I suspect the delay in getting our steaks was the result of not ordering the daily steak special. The steaks were warm but not hot which made us think they had been sitting for a while. The salads were the most unusual Caesar salad presentations we have ever had. A wedge of Romaine with a drizzle of dressing. Perhaps it was an off night since we were there on Father’s Day evening which was a Sunday.
The food was absolutely phenomenal and creative, as were the cocktails! The bacon wrapped figs and fried brie were to die for, and my steak was cooked perfectly! Our waiter was attentive, helpful, and very kind! Can’t wait to go back!
The meal was wonderful. This is not a pub but a lovely restaurant. We started with the bacon wrapped figs which were good but too expensive for four small piece/$10. I had the salmon with mashed - great and my husband the tortellini stuffed with squash. Both lovely. Wine was reasonable and service very good.
While the food was fresh, well-prepared and tasty, the service was far below what we would expect from an upscale restaurant like this. Our server was a pleasant and earnest young man, but he repeatedly demonstrated inexperience, especially with opening our wine and food service timing issues. Aside from that, our entrees were delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant and quiet. We all agreed that 14 North has great potential. Possibly we were there on an “off” night. We would be willing to give it another try in the future.
The food was dry & VERY over cooked (spaghetti/meatballs) - Meatballs were hard as golf balls & burnt. Noodles stuck together & barely any sauce. We are 14 Nortg frequent flyers so this was not typical - but still indicative of a quality control issue. Wait staff was great but she was the only person serving so she was constantly running between upstairs & down. They comp’d our entrees but still very disappointing. Still, we will try again.
Great food but pricey. Atmosphere nice and the service was good.
The food was good, not great. I had a lamb and gnocchi dish that was a disappointment, the menu said lamb shank, what was on the gnocchi was tiny shredded lamb pieces.. a bad description. The waitress was uninterested in her job and dressed like she was headed to Walmart. The portions were very small, the prices were high.. althpugh it did not look or feel like a high end restaurant.
