Got a few friends together for their brunch which was on an add somewhere I cannot seem to recall. Promising of a buffet style dining and unlimited mimosas which was not the case due to lack of reservations. More than half of the items that were on the menu we had to choose from were not available. Was hoping for a good experience and time but it was just over priced for the inconvenience of xy&z. Spoke to the manager as well who would not comp us or discount anything and asked us to just let him know the next time we were coming by - we took a pass. Maybe it was a bad weekend but I will not be recommending this spot.

My fiancee and I made a late reservation for our date night but ended up showing up later than planned(about 30 minutes late). When we showed up, the kitchen was closed, but the host was helpful enough to tell the owner about our situation. The owner then pulled some strings to get the chef to stay longer to accommodate us. In summary, an almost disastrous night ended up being a special night with private dining and complimentary champagne to top it off :).

The food was excellent and the staff was warm and attentive. I had the chicken and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection, including the beautiful skin. The waitress was still a bit in learning mode but otherwise did everything she could to make our experience a good one. I also loved how the other diners reflected the diversity of this city and the Shaw neighborhood.

I had the opportunity to come to 1230 for my mom’s birthday on New Year’s day, and I’m really glad that we did. We had a great time, and I’m really glad that we picked this specific place this time. Everything about the food was wonderfully prepared. The steak was cooked really really excellently designed and well cooked. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was seasoned incredibly well, and our beef skewers were damn near a magical experience. Our chef came out and personally brought us the waffles that he had prepared, which was a wonderful gesture. One of the owners even came out and brought my mother champagne for her birthday – I was so happy! When we didn’t end up finishing the majority of our champagne, I asked the owner that brought us the champagne if we could have a cork so we could take the bottle with us. He told me no (of course,) but told me that the next time I came, I cold have another free bottle on him. I totally appreciated that so much! It was super sweet and super thoughtful. Happy to come back. Can't wait for an excuse.

Horrible service. We came for New Years Eve dinner, took an hour to get our food. Our waitress had no interest in being there, she was extremely rude. After 30 minutes of waiting, the waitress told us the food is on the way. 5 minutes later the chef came out of the kitchen and was oblivious to the fact we had ordered two entrees. Notably, numerous groups sat and left after recognizing the quality of service. The whole experience sucked and almost ruined my NYE (wife and I ended up an hour late to party). $135 dinner for two, waste. The lentil appetizer and the scallops were good though, as was my cocktail... though the steak frites was no good (and likely rushed once the chef realized we had ordered dinner 35 minutes after the fact).

I unfortunately was very displeased with this experience. I came to DC to celebrate my birthday on NYE with 3 of my girlfriends. Before our trip I scheduled a reservation for 4 people on 12/31 as my birthday dinner. I Received a special email from the restaurant saying I would receive a free entree, “Fine” champagne for my guest and I, a free cocktail, A personally designed gift bag and a personally decorative table. Let’s just say upon arrival, the staff seemed “surprised” to see us. The place was empty, we weren’t greeted properly, there were no decorations on the table -as if a reservation was never made. Once seated we were barely greeted by the server who seemed to be offended by my reference of the email I received. Sh ran between our table and her manager continually asking me questions about the email as if I were lying. She stated “well all my manager can give you is a free drink entree and champagne”. Which was ok with me considering the fact that’s the least they could do after the cold welcoming. The food was great as well as the presentation which I won’t take away from the restaurant. Until we were about to pay for the bill. There was a small discrepancy that needed a little further explanation-to our surprise our waitress decided to not only argue with us but almost taunt us into an argumentative situation and I quote “What, were you not happy with the service?” As she pulled the payment device away as one of my friends were about to pay. What was really astounding to us was how her attitude changed completely while waiting on a table next to us of about 8 people in the middle of our dinner. They received full service -a greeting an explaination of the menu and cocktails and so on. Unfortunately this was completely opposite of what I had in mind for a celebratory birthday dinner. I’m pretty sure we will not be returning to this place in the future.
