100 Steps Kitchen + Raw Bar
Wait staff rushed us throughout the evening and we were the only table there! Food used to be soooo good. Not what it used to be since under new management.
Enjoyed a mother’s day set menu. Food was superb. Will be back!
Raw bar was delicious!
Great ambience and service. The Gnocchi was amazing- so soft! Everything was good, except the chuncks of ham in my scallops dish. There was more ham than scallops. They should pair it with more vegetables or starch.
We love it there. We just wish the menu was more extensive and there was a greater variety of choices.
New menu was outstanding
Oysters, apps, main courses and dessert were all very good
Excellent food and service....for my tastes the music could be a little lower, but many may like the volume. Will definitely return!
Outstanding service, lovely ambience, delicious food. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
I have been here multiple times. If it wasn't good, I wouldn't return. The restaurant has excellent service, variety, and quality. Don't tell too many or it will get more difficult to get a table in the future. Let's keep this between us!!
The new owner, Jack, has done an amazing job with 100 Steps. Our server, Dell, was very knowledgeable and pleasant. He made spot on suggestions for our oyster order and the small plates. Jack, stopped by to chat with us and every other table during the course of our visit. He made it a point to make every guest feel welcome and heard. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the grilled octopus so much that we ordered a second one. Oysters were fresh and flavorful. And the chicken liver mousse was exquisite. And the fact that it is BYO is perfection. We will certainly be regulars!
Number 1 in NJ for FRESH delicious east coast oysters and seafood. Consistently delivers and doesn’t disappoint
Great food, excellent service
Nice ambience, Can’t ask for more!!!!
This was our first visit and we were welcomed with open arms. The management and staff were attentive but not overly so. The food was amazing and the space is warm and cozy. We’ll definitely be going back!
Usually this is my go to place ... took forever to get my tower... upon getting it clams were a bit sandy.. they changed up the top of the tower with a mussel dish and a crab salad.. not my fave.. it’s a fresh seafood tower no need for crab with mayo.. not my thing.. place was not busy at all maybe 5 tables.. don’t know why I waited 45 to 50 min for the seafood tower .. after that we ordered dessert.. which was just a mess...my cappuccino came out 15 minutes prior to my girlfriends OHS Coffee and the pound cake we ordered... I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come.. I will not spend $$$ in a place that doesn’t seem to care about their customers.. one more chance or 100 steps might be 100,000,000 miles away
We enjoyed the setting. We had oysters and clams to start that were fresh and clean. Scallops were devine.
Awesome experience. Will definitely be back.
Food was very good especially the grilled octopus.
Three words: Oyster Happy Hour
How good does that sound? Grab a bottle of wine, some beers or make up a cocktail and go sit at the raw bar at 100 Steps (or OHS as us regulars call it) starting at 4pm Wed-Sun and go to town! The east coast oyster selection are our favorites and we typically take down 2, sometimes 3 dozen. The trick is to leave without trying anything from the menu - there's so much to be had. Or you can call 48 hours ahead of your reservation and see if Chef Joe can whip up a tasting menu for you. It's a great opportunity to watch Chef Joe stretch his culinary legs and perhaps try something you've never had before.
The staff is always great - we love all of the servers. It is also very likely that the owner, Jack, will come by your table to say hello. He's great with faces and will remember you if you've been there before.
We like to get to OHS between 4-4:30 and then set up camp for awhile enjoying the food, the ambiance and the conversation. We suggest you give it a try!
I love this restaurant. Although it’s expensive and the portions are small, the food is very good and the staff even better.
This is by far the best oyster bar in the area. It is a go-to for special occasions, and first choice when we go out. Service is perfect.
Can’t say enough good things about it.
One thing - don’t go. It’s already hard enough to get a table...
The food was outstanding. As was the amount of attention paid to us by the staff. It was a little loud in the room but I'm sure the four of us contributed to that. Would have liked to switch out the carrots on my short ribs order for a different vegetable but that was not an option so a bit disappointing. We will be back!
Great as always. We opted for the grand seafood tower (25% off during happy hour). Oysters, clams, mussels, crab , and scallops all very fresh and well prepared. Chicken pate and duck rillette was awesome. Short ribs always a great choice and excellent salted caramel ice cream for dessert. Oh, did I mention it’s a BYOB......Win/win
Love the ambiance in this welcoming restaurant. Food was excellent! We will be going back soon for another delicious meal. Highly recommend the clam pot.
Great service and we had happy hour raw bar and the set menu which made it extra good value. Always a great evening out!
My friend and I did the "pre-fixe". So many choices but I chose the Crab Beignets; Roasted Chicken and Ice Cream for Dessert. Everything was prepared expertly and sooo delicious.
Of course we had to add some Oysters to the mix :)
One of my fav places!
The food was absolutely delicious. I started with octopus, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I had the fish special, which was hake, on top of broccoli tips and leeks. Heaven! My friends had various scrumptious oysters and pasta. Chocolate mousse for dessert. This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in NJ!
I have Celiac disease. They got it and did a great job. In fact, the waiter hand wrote a list of what was gluten free. Almost everything!
My boyfriend and I were at 100 Steps for our anniversary, this was the second time being there. Everything was absolutely amazing from the moment we walked in. We were greeted nicely by the hostess, our waiter Julian was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and so nice. And the food was delicious and phenomenal! Chef Beninato always goes above and beyond and it shows in his dishes. I wish I could give a higher rating! Always a lovely experience!
Very disappointed the only positive was the service. The waiter, the host and the bottle of wine we brought were excellent. I’ve never had short rib that you actually had to cut like a steak. It had no flavor and super dry. The mussels were ok and although the venison was cooked perfectly it had no flavor. We didn’t even have to tell them the food was bad they knew which was a positive. The host came over and quickly took the short rib away and apologized.
A fabulous place to enjoy having a meal. From the oysters to the parker house rolls, everything here is extremely well prepared and service is exceptional. I've been here multiple times and it's a go to place for a special occasion. It's byo. I was there for valentine's day and the special menu was superb. You can't miss coming here.
Great food, great service. The prefix is a a perfect way to try this restaurant.
By far my favorite restaurant in the area. They always have a huge selection of fish and non fish items. It's a great tapas style place that is really fun for sharing multiple dishes. Last time we were there we had the Ricotta Gnocchi, which was out of this world!!
Beautiful restaurant, great food. A must for oyster lovers!!
The food is quite good with an equally quite interesting menu. A lot of attention to detail and service!
Wow this place is AMAZING! everything we tried was delicious. The octopus and lobster bisque were so yummy. And the cod special was great too. I would come back here 100 more times. Definitely recommend!
This place is consistently great. Atmosphere is very nice, it’s not too loud and the food is just outstanding. I’ve been here over a dozen times and have never been disappointed. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The owner makes his way to various tables just to check in and see how everything is going. Highly recommend the muscle and clam pots.
Outstanding as usual. One of my local favorites.
Lovely location gem
The best oysters in NJ. If you can get in before 6:30pm, the raw bar happy hour is great.
We had $60 left over on a gift card and heard that 100 Steps had a discounted Sunday afternoon menu. We ordered a $75 item, which was discounted by 25%, but was very sparse. Dish came with 6 oysters, 6 claims, 3 shrimps, a bite of tuna and a small dish of bay scallops. Felt that the restaurant marks the prices up to mark them down. Felt a little taken advantage of. A better alternative would have been the oysters or clams for 50% off -- but still at $42 a dozen (full price; $21 a dozen discounted), is hardly a bargain. Now, I admit that I normally don't order oysters, etc., at restaurants, so they may just be expensive normally, but for what we ate for $60, it was barely a snack. I would not say it was good, I would say it was fair -- no better. It was not terrible, and the restaurant was nice.... I should add that the restaurant is on Centennial Avenue in Cranford -- not a high rent district -- so I wasn't expecting Oyster Bar prices!
Jack and his team serve up one of the finest meals in town especially if you like fresh seafood- and the oyster bar OMG! The oyster bar alone is worth the trip alone.
