One of the better meals I have had in Victoria
Service was amazing and the food was excellent. Will definitely make this a must dine the next time in Victoria.
The food was fabulous. We will definitely come back again and have sung your praises to other family members:
Excellent service and cuisine. Just a bit put off by being charged for Parmesan cheese!
Menu felt *very* limited. Tasting menu did not seem that interesting. Smaller restaurant. Sustainable/organic/ethical is their thing. We noted on our reservation that it was a special occasion, but it wasn't brought up at all.
Wife had the "liberty to say" cocktail which was *tiny.* I had the red sangria which was not bad.
I had the carbonara, which tasted rather salty. Wife had the halibut, seemed pretty good. We had the cheesecake and the lemon charlotte - both were quite good. We preferred the cheesecake.
Overall, we appreciated the ethical/sustainable aspect, but the food/ambience did not merit the price. Would not go again.
The main entree was over cooked; no colour to plate; was a plate of mushrooms with a piece of over cooked beef. Food was very salty and lacked flavour. Waitress was made aware but didn't offer to have new plate made or reduce cost or at least a free dessert. For a 40.00 plate I expected exceptional food and was dissapointed. We unfortunately won't be returning.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tastings menu--every course was creative and delicious!
Excellent menu, especially tasting. Wine pairing and wine list in general is outstanding. Service very good with caveat of common problem caused by staff turnover presenting significant training challenges resulting in somewhat naive service behaviour of junior staff.
Food was nice but didn’t look anything like the photos shown.
Adrianno (sorry if I am spelling your name wrong) was an amazing help to us for our dinner wine choices. So friendly and easy to talk to. He really made it very nice.
We enjoyed a 50th Birthday in the restaurant. The service was excellent with so many people serving us. There was no shortage in service. Wine and drinks were really good. The food was fresh and very tasty. They even served desert on the house! I think the cost for food was reasonable. The evening was enjoyable and we all left happy and satisfied. I will eat there again and would like to try the pub in the near future.
Excellently prepared food and attentive service. Quieter room was nice for conversation with my wife. The Caesar salad was one of the best we have ever eaten. Our entrees were also excellently prepared and presented. Definitely worth the experience for those very special occasions with loved ones. We will remember our dinner at The Kitchen for a long time. Thank you for a wonderful and very tasty dining experience.
Great friendly staff. Super comfortable with the personalities. I had a great time. One thing that was confusing was I called to make a reso on a Monday and the phone number answering machine said only open Tuesday to Saturday. I looked on line and google said the same thing. I found a different number and got a hold of you. I’m glad I did. Thank you for a great birthday dinner. Xo
Great food and service.
Found a body hair from my dishes.
And all dish come too late.
Ceasar salad came out in 50mins.
How is this possible?
It was too long before we got our meals but once served , it was good
Great service and we enjoyed the tasting menu. The majority of the dishes were excellent with only one of the dishes being just ok.
A good friend in town and wanted to show her a lovely evening
A great dinner experience - the tasting menu was unique and all five dishes were amazing! Staff was super friendly and attentive and knowledgeable. Have already recommended to my family!
Had a lovely meal ~ the food exceeded our expectations:) Found a rare bottle of BC wine which we supremely enjoyed! Although the Som forgot about us so our pour was slightly delayed; didn’t affect our time there. Still a great experience overall ~ Charlie was our server - top marks!
The folks at The Kitchen are great - very attentive and knowledgeable.
I chose the bread "appetizer", with sides of bacon & sweetened butter and tapenade. The sweet/salty butter pairing seemed odd, and the tapenade was so-so in both appearance and taste.
A Caesar Salad followed - sorry, but it was truly lacking in punch - perhaps not enough dressing?
(With hindsight, I should have asked that more dressing be provided but didn't think of it at the time.) For my entree, I selected the Wild Mushroom Tart with Polenta. The plate presentation included small decorative dabs of balsamic reduction - our waiter had suggested that I mix this in with the mushrooms - it helped to enhance the flavor of the dish a bit but, overall, it was bland, and the Polenta seemed unnecessary - it is a mildly flavor accompaniment, and it did little to help out the mushroom ragout. I Ieft about 1/3 of that dish untouched. For dessert, had a wonderful, light cake - a showstopper for sure.
From my standpoint, the dishes I selected were "overworked" - a bit too much creativity that sacrificed what might have been better served had the combinations been less complicated and more profound in flavor.
I will try this restaurant again. Until I do, however, I can't recommend it to friends.
10 Acre Kitchen is an upscale dining experience. Very current menu options farm to table fare. Waitstaff are unpretentious and very friendly. A welcome addition in a resteraunt that may seem too upscale. The food was very good. And sommelier was very knowledgeable .
We enjoyed the personal service, our waiter Charlie was very knowledgeable about all the food. I had the salmon which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. My husband had the halibut which also tasted wonderful. We had a nice bottle of wine, wine list is a little on the pricey side.for dessert we shared the cheesecake, one of the best we have tasted. All the vegetables came from their farm. If you love good fresh local food beautifully cooked and presented this is the place for you.
Best meal I’ve ever had. The waiter and sommelier were dedicated to providing us with a good meal and great experience.
Service was friendly but there was confusion in the timing of the orders. I got my main 10 minutes before my partner. I had previously enjoyed the creative green salad on the menu and was disappointed that the only green salad this time was a mediocre Caesar salad. Overall, it was good but not great as my last experience.
Everything was fine except that we liked the baguette and ordered a refill which never came after over 30 minutes. Then the entrees arrived and we left it. Yet, they still charged us for the refill. Although it was only $3 for the refill, I told them that we waited for over 30 minutes and the refill never came. They apologized and reversed the $3.
There were two major problems.
The room was VERY noisy: it was VERY difficult to hear what was being said. Two neighbouring tables of loud men made it very unpleasant.
Secondly, our main course did not arrive for at least an hour after we finished our first course.
The waitress did apologize but only after we mentioned it when we were leaving.
All of this said, the food was well prepared and nicely presented.
Very disappointing overall experience. We were embarrassed to have taken visitors there.
Good food and good service. Need to always keep some form of duck on the menu.
Best tasting menu we have ever had 😍
Great experience. Good value for high end food. Great wine list.
Great food, attention to service detail...couldn't ask for any better in Victoria...might have been the best service/meal that we have had in this town.
An unexpected surprise menu...what was advertised was in fact true...quality food and attention to detail all whipped up in a delightful setting. Merci!
The service was excellent as was the ambience. The food in total, specifically appetizer and the mains we had, did not match the previous evening’s food at its sister restaurant #10 Bistro. The charcuterie board came without cheeses and sparse pickles and no olives and one type of bread only ( a pale version of a charcuterie board when compared to the identically described one we enjoyed the previous evening at #10 Bistro ) , my wife’s steak was not tender and my halibut had been slightly overcooked.Having said that the cheesecake desert was exceptional and the French press coffee perfect. Both our server and the Kitchen’s sommelier overcame our less than complete enjoyment of the food and allowed the experience to be a very enjoyable one for us.
The food and drinks were great and the service was friendly and personable. Definitely a recommended dining locale!
They ran out of a couple dishes, but did recommend alternative choices
The food, service and ambience was excellent. We found the wine list to be overpriced.
This was my third time eating here, and frankly I was disappointed in the quality of the meal compared to my last visit 5 months ago.
My companion was not impressed with the flavours or the presentation.
A concise though tasty wine list made choices easy and the menu choices were limited which is fine, however we both were not impressed with the presentation or the flavour and textures presented.
Its not "fine dining" but I feel that the quality, flavour and value was not the same as before.
This is my opinion and is tempered by my likes and dislikes based on previous experiences here.
Great food and the service was superb! The wait staff and sommelier were excellent! The red perch was amazing, have to try the crab/shrimp toast.
Very pleasant farm to table restaurant. Somewhat limited menu. Disappointed to see few seafood choices. The calamari appetizer was spectacular.
