We had the octopus and scallops which were both phenomenal. Paired well with an Albariño recommended by our server.
Two things that could have been better were with the grouper dish.
Fish was prepared perfectly but was over powered by the seasoning and flavor in the tomato’s.
Served incredibly hot and couldn’t be eaten for several minutes.
Outstanding meal at a hotel with tremendous elegance on a prime beach location in Santa Monica.
The staff were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to provide excellent service.
food was delicious however my spouse and I left that our waiter was judgemental because of our Hispanic appearance.
The food was amazing as always. Unfortunately our server was terrible. He relied on other staff to bring our food, and take our dishes. We had a bottle of wine and he only poured our initial glass of wine. I had finished one glass right in front of him and he just walked off. At $115 a plate on Valentine’s Day I wasn’t expecting to have to pour our own wine... overall we were pleased with the food. But highly dissatisfied with our server.
Great staff and great food!
1 Pico served up one very delicous breakfast. Great menu choices, excellent service, warm staff & great location
1 Pico is a beautiful spot located in Shutters on the Beach. The standout dish we ordered was the 100 Tomatoes Appetizer which was a great fresh salad with mint, yogurt, cucumbers and fresh cherry tomatoes. Very well crafted and very tasty. Our main courses were well prepared but not as exciting. They have a wonderful selection of wines by the glass which was terrific as my wife was in the mood for a white (Sancerre) and I was drinking red (a great Meritage).
The setting is beautiful, the service was fine - knowledgeable about the menu - not rushed at all. A beautiful fireplace with an odd painting atop highlights the room. We sat at a table by the window overlooking the beach and the Ferris Wheel!
Fabulous brunch. Wonderful, attentive staff. Very kind, patient and entertaining. Love the ambiance of the room on a very rainy day in Southern California.
Just love this restaurant and look forward to our next dining experience.
Excellent all around.
Very enjoyable evening.
I met two girlfriends for lunch who had just flown in from a colder climate. They were very impressed with the ocean view and the clean, cozy decor. The menu for lunch, though not extensive, was interesting and everyone found something they liked. Even our gluten free gal had no trouble finding options. Our server was very attentive and offered ways to make things gluten free even if that is not how it was stated on the menu. The sound level was quiet which was what we wanted and it was easy to talk and catch up. The prices were a little on the high side for lunch but I guess you must pay for the real estate and the beautiful view.
Excellent as always!! One Pico never disappoints. The scallops were out of this world. It's a comfortable, not pretentious, but top quality eatery - our favorite place!
Great place for me to celebrate my birthday with friends
For the price of the food the service could be more attentive and the clearing up and serving of courses was appalling
Everything is excellent. Near the sea side atmosphere is good and all waiters are doing very well to meet costumer’s need. Goo for celebrating events.
Fabulous food and server
Great experience. Waiter was friendly and remembered my husband.
I stopped going there due to the food was not that good but last week we wanted Ed the window views, I was surprised at how good the new menu was, they finally found a good chef. The menu still is way too short
We enjoyed dine la menu. Great view of ocean. Service was good and food delicious.
The service at 1 Pico has always been somewhat patchy in consistency, however, this time it was simply appalling!
Great environment for talking
Special place... Good simple food, nice atmosphere... very accommodating... (Was with a 2 year old...) Love the place.
Had wonderful service and the branzino was amazing
The restaurant is charming, has a low-key nautical influence, and of course, views of the beach. Seating is comfortable. Our waiter was excellent. He communicated the preparation of the dishes well, and was helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. It's always rewarding to dine at a restaurant that exceeds your expectations and simply blows you away with the quality, presentation, and incredible flavor. We-ll definitely be returning.
Had a lobster special with three others
Had a lobster Caesar full of white anchovies and a teaspoon of lobster claw.
Had lobster BLT with more bacon and a teaspoon of lobster claw.
The other three had similar issues with their lobster choices.
$60 per person.
Really was a poor idea
We told our waiter to pass the message to the chef that being so skimpy and only using claw meat was not what we expected in a classy restaurant .
Excellent food, including several pasta dishes, combined with attentive service.
Had a very nice meal while staying at one of my favorite hotels in LA.
I should say i am amazed with the taste of food and how it is served. A little bit on the pricier side but totally worth it.
Lovely place - almost!
Large noisy parties should be placed at one end, not right in the middle of the floor, disturbing all surrounding parties.
Outdoor flood lights nearly kill the otherwise nice interior interior lighting and ambiance.
Use warm white 2700 kelvin lamps inside and - - - outside near large windows. The overly bright LED spots kill the soft interior lighting - especially at tables near the windows. Come on shutters - you must have an architect or lighting consultant who is paying attention.
I dined at this restaurant on two successive evenings in order to entertain a business associate and then a friend. The food was excellent and imaginatively created and the portion sizes plentiful. The service was very friendly. It would be good, however, to have more warm options for vegetarians because my partner, who is vegetarian, found the choice of dishes very limited. The restaurant has quite an old-world feel and is in an excellent location, but it would have been good to have a bit more light in the evening; as it was, it proved extremely difficult to read the menu!
Moody person took us from front desk to table. She gave off a very poor vibe. But the food was good, the waitress charming, and the Ocean view outstanding.
A few disasters with serving but they were dealt with well
Wine way way over priced
Ambiance and view is wonderful. Beautiful decor and attentive staff. Our waiter went out of his way when we ordered champagne by allowing us to taste several to find the right fit. HOWEVER, that being said, the food was sparse and frugal and WAAAAY overpriced, partially because it was New Year's Eve. For $145 (not including drinks) plus tax and gratuity, we only got ONE appetizer , ONE entree and a dessert! (The later seating from 8pm to midnight cost $190, and only added an amuse bouche and a glass of champagne!) Even assuming my 6 oz Filet Mignon was $75, that meant the appetizers were $25 each (mine was burrata cheese with a little caviar & my partner had a pear salad), and the desserts were $45 each! Even Ruth Chris Steakhouse doesn't charge $75 for Filet Mignon! My steak only had a large mushroom on it (no other side vegetables or potatoes, which is usual when you order an expensive steak) so there were virtually NO VEGETABLES in my meal at ALL! Only recommend this for the view (which is better during the day, I'm sure, but we've never been there then) and definitely NOT the menu, and only if you have money to burn on ambiance!
1 Pico was an excellent choice to celebrate the New Year with my Queen. The service was excellent. The food was spectacular and very well prepared. It was an overall excellent dining experience. We will be back. Thank you 1 Pico!
Nice place, friendly service, great location
My go to place to watch the sunset or have a nice lunch. Good food, ambiance and service.
We booked a reservation for Xmas dinner. We had to wait 30 minutes for our table and then we found out it was prix fixed menu. The price for the food was astronomical. I would have spent $400 for two for a much nicer dining experience. Food was bland, diners were rushed. Just awful!
It was Christmas Day and the menu was a fixed menu - three to four different items to choose from appetizer, protein and dessert. Cost was $110 per person. We had reservations and had to wait 45 minutes before we were seated. The service was poor - very slow before we were offered anything to drink after being seated. We were never given any bread while waiting - in fact we never were given any bread ever. The food was very good but definitely not worth the money or wait.
Food was amazing. So glad the Sea Bass was on the menu - yummy! The caesar salad was unique, healthy and delicious and the chocolate torte was amazing and I could tell it was on the health side too :)
My boyfriend and I had a perfect table by the window and we enjoyed the fun ambience.
The place is amazing and it was a great pick up for Christmas Day but it is extremely expensive. I suggest, coffee, juices and a couple of mimosas are included in the price to make it worth better. I would not come back or recommend it to a friend because of the price.
This was a Christmas Eve dinner with a fixed menu. Service, food, ambience were exceptional. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinner.
