R Lounge at Two Times Square Ratings and Reviews
Had a brilliant night for our friends 50th birthday, view was outstanding I was glad when I booked to put a comment where we wanted to be seated. Food was great but not a big variety waitress was lovely couldn’t remember her name but she had dark hair and glasses middle age brilliant customer service, great atmosphere definitely would come back and would recommend.
Took my partner out to eat for his birthday/anniversary and we had an amazing time.
The view is what you’re paying for, but it is quite phenomenal. The food was delicious, but the portions could be bigger.
As for the service, they’re really attentive but definitely have snobby attitudes. I got sense of them wanting us to leave to open up the table. Maybe because we didn’t order any alcohol beverages?
Nonethelsss, still worth eating at for what is truly important, and that is being lit up with all of the amazing lights of Times Square.
The reason to go here is the view. You can get drinks and apps anywhere else equally as good. It has one of the best views overlooking times square that i have been too. Lots of tourists taking selfies with the light show from times square outside, who can blame them.
The prices are a bit high but you get a nice size table and was not rushed. very nice for an after show drink. The service could have been a bit better, more professional, but it is what it is. very enjoyable for drinks and apps. Plenty of window tables.
All in all, it was an AMAZING visit. The place was incredible: the view, the food, the ambiance, etc. My only comment would be the service. Our waiter was not around very often and gave us the check without us even asking for it..? I’m the bar manager at the restaurant where I work and am generally very patient at other venues, but it was a bit frustrating. Other than that, FIVE STARS.
We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Times Square over the long Thanksgiving Holiday 2017. Our two adult daughters joined us in New York and we planned to celebrate our older daughter's recent promotion and passing off her CPA exams. R Lounge offers incredible views of Times Square from the elevated restaurant that offers floor to ceiling windows and is particularly special at night. My two daughters and I ordered a specialty drinks, small bites and ordered the fish with the fresh fruit salsa. My husband enjoyed a beer with the steak --everyone was pleased. It was the perfect way to dine before we headed to see the "Aladdin" Musical on Broadway nearby.
While I love coming for the view of Times Square, the service this time was just awful. The manager was very accommodating and appreciated his attention. If you want a great view In Times Square for a drink and snack and have some patience, I would still
Recommend coming here.
A great spot overlooking Times Square! Two things missing: 1) a small gap between tables on the south walk to allow for patrons not fortunate enough to be seated there to get the priceless photos many of us come for without being rudely chastised by staff and 2) an even remote sense of urgency on behalf of the wait staff (unless you are stealing a photo on the south wall of course.) If you’re dying for a cocktail, good luck.
I live in NYC and had a guest from Brazil who didnt mind to pay certain price. So we went to R Lounge because of the view. Food and ambiance is really good. However, service is the worst. Literally, all waiters were slow, rude and bad in general. I was emberresed to show these people how NYC looks. Had to explain to them that is rear service like this in this type of restaurant. Manager neeeds to do better job and make sure his/hers waiters are not as slow and rude!
Great views next to the window but some if the food is awful - avoid the pizza (you’d be better off with any frozen pizza at the grocery store) they have also changed the recipe on the wings which previously were great - overall food is greasy and drinks are watered down - the best part of the place is the view if Times Square and great servers but they need a new chef!!!
Went their for the view of Times Sq. Took my 7 year old granddaughter. Her first Broadway experience. Limited but sufficient menu. I had a petite filet that was quite good. Others had a salad, swordfish, grilled cheese. Swordfish was only fair, but others were just fine. Wine by the glass was a decent portion. Waitress was very good. Attentive without hovering. Took the necessary pictures, too. All in all, a great choice for the occasion.
Visited the R Lounge several times during a recent weeklong visit to NYC. Quite a find for us. On 2nd floor of Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Times Square, with 270 degree view of Times Square thru floor to ceiling windows from every table in the lounge area. Tasty well-made (and not skimpy) cocktails. Limited menu but nicely done and quite affordable, the beef brisket sandwich and "Grown-up Grilled Cheese" are both awesome. High quality experience with wonderfully moderate cost. Always active and busy but we could not believe we never had to wait for seating -- highly recommended!
We were after travelling for the previous 18 hours and managed to walk to the R lounge having pre booked weeks in advance at 5pm. we were 3rd in the q. I had emailed in advanced and asked for a nice window seat. The guy on the counter took us to the most uncomfortable seat with the sammlest table - the one in the far left corner. I had said to him can we move to a better one as they were available and he replied no with no appologies. I was really annoyed as we were the only ones who actutally ordered a proper mean while the other tables had just ordered drinks and had bigger tables, but we were shoved in the corner with the smallest table with no empathy from the reservation guy. Really bad experience!
4th time at the R Lounge and always the same ambivalent feelings.
Food is far from being excellent yet is not too bad.
Half of the staff is impeccable yet the receptionist/manager lady is extremely rude at first and waiters forget to welcome you but finally end up doing a good job.
The view is absolutely breathtaking no discussion.
In other words, this place would require consistent effort to get impeccable service and it would be a 5 stars.
Incredible atmosphere. Unbelievable views. I did not expect the food to be good however it was really amazing. The Old Bay Chips were crispy, swordfish with mango salsa and rice was great and my husband's brisket sandwich was amazing. So glad we made these reservations.
