This is a little hidden gem with the best view of Times Square that there is. Decent food, good service and a nice place. Perfect for visitors without too much chaos.
We had the best time here! It was the highlight of our trip. We had reservations for 5:30 and watched Times Square light up the night. Definitely make reservations 2 weeks in advance and request a window seat!
The view is fantastic. The food was delicious. The staff was incredibly kind & very attentive. We had a wonderful evening there. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic place the lounge looks fabulous the food and drink really is great and the view is excellent but for us the staff spoilt it. Miserable and rude both the maitrDee and waitor need to check there attitude, we had our bill slammed down on us and we had not even asked for it infact we were going to order another.
The service we received was amazing. 2 lovely ladies helping us were very friendly and efficient. We appreciate it & will definitely come back.
VERY loud in entire area. Staff did turn music down a bit when we asked for a more quiet seat. Good views of Times Square and would be great for New Years. Went after theater for drinks/bites. Pizza so-so. Confusion on reservation and we were seated in outer area. Had to remind we were waiting. Closed at midnight on Friday night which leaves little time to enjoy after theater. Server was more helpful than the staff at entrance.
Would recommend for the view only. Food was below average and service extremely slow.
I requested a table near a window and we were given one on the main wall with a great view of Times Square. It was a great way to see Times Square without having to be down in the hustle and bustle of the crowd. We came after a Broadway show for a late dinner. My husband was surprised at how reasonably priced everything was, especially given the location. He jokingly wondered if the .99 cent chips were "per chip," but they were a decent sized little basket with some good dip. He ordered the burger and I got the grilled cheese with tomato soup. Everything was good, not the best ever, but again, good given the price and location. The service was a bit slow despite it not being busy, but we would definitely come here again.
So kind! We were almost an hour late due to taking the train in the wrong direction, but did call to let them know that we were going to be late. Upon arrival we had one of the best seats in the house and accommodating service (fast) due to a short turn around to get to a show. Thank you for making an evening that started out bad, much, much better!
Recommend taking a hard pass on this place. Ordered an appetizer with prosciutto that was gamey. Ordered 2 drinks that never arrived. We would have asked about it, but our server never returned after bringing us our meals. It was a good thing we weren’t really thirsty, because server never returned to refill our water glasses either. Got check and it included 2 extra drinks that we didn’t order. It took 3 tries to fix our check.
Our table had a nice view. And our actual entries were decent (though it’s hard to get a salad and burger with fries wrong). Wouldn’t recommend, there are so many other amazing restaurants in NY.
The view at the R Lounge was great - but that’s the only exciting part of this restaurant. The food and service here were extremely disappointing. For a restaurant in the middle of Times Square in a high traffic hotel, we couldn’t believe that this was our experience. Misfired plates, incorrect drinks and entrees, and slow service are examples. The food also does not match the price point of this establishment. The dishes are very basic and felt more like fast food rather than a 16-18 dollar entrees. Great location- but needs to step up their game.
Good food and fantastic view of time square. Get a table at the window if possible. First come first serve.
Entrees were nothing to write home about. Burgers, appetizers and sandwiches were good. Service was slow and main entree was served cold.
It was a last night in NYC and booked the R Lounge (they are a part of the Marriott group) was recommended this place for its views overlooking Times Square!
I had reserved the place & made sure was there on time. First disappointing was the table I had requested for wasn’t allotted. And I had to convince the waiter to allot the table I asked for. He finally gave it (this was the same guy who served us)
We ordered drinks and the a starter dish as we wanted to enjoy some drinks ahead of proper dinner (usual) he got us our dish which had excess salt. We kept looking for the waiter but couldn’t spot him so reported it to the other waiter. He said he’ll look into it and then our waiter turned up stating nothing can be done about the dish as it’s just that way where as the other waiter was trying to say we will get the chef to check it. The waiters name was muza or something. And the other guy rashid was trying to help.
We didn’t like the way he dealt with it so we decided to leave the place however there was an event at Times Square so waited back just to see it. The waiter literally came up to us and said will you guys order or pay the bill literally. I told him give me a moment as we were watching the event.. he said (doesn’t allow me to write it here) ! Literally meant LIKE WHATS WRONG WITH THESE GUYS and left!
The event got done we reported this to the management and left!
I asked for details to write to the management however they said open table and trip advisor was the only way to report them. She didn’t charge us for the drinks.
We left poor due to poor service and disheartened!
Anniversary drinks and apps in a cool spot.
eating on Vacation
Amazing view of Times Square- best you can get in the area. Great food and drinks. Our server Kelly was outstanding!!
Everything was great except they didnt have many red wine options
Fabulous location for a quick drink
Food was fresh and tasty
It’s all about the view
Recommend as you must experience a glass of fizz and times Sq at night- Epic
Awesome view to times square
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's BD & our 1 Yr. anniversary together. It was very beautiful & had a very romantic setting. The Host was not friendly, he had no concern about where we wanted to sit. We stood around looking for someone to seat us only to find out that there was no one to wait on the tables in the area we chose. We were then seated at a table for 2 on barstools, that was not romantic to us at all. The menu, even though I checked it out before I made reservations, there wasn't much to choose from, at least nothing we wanted to eat. So we left.
Fantástico, you are in Timee Square without the noise
The view is outstanding and the food is ok. But the service is terrible.
I was there for a birthday as I specified in my booking. But the host didn’t even check my booking and send us to a regular table, after complain with a waiter we were moved to a table next to the window.
After we ordered we haven’t seen the waiter anymore and we couldn’t order any dessert nor champagne in order to make a toast for the birthday.
A nice place to just go one time to get the view and never get back.
Amazing experience. Our first time in new york. We git the view of time square away from the crowd. Great food. It’s a hidden gem. Thank you
Our visit to the R Lounge was marred by the fact that they had no record of our reservation from OpenTable, this despite my responding to a confirmatory email from OpenTable one day before. To avoid this I would recommend phoning the R Lounge directly to ensure that the reservation has been relayed. Once I produced an OpenTable print out of the reservation the restaurant staff scrambled to find us a table. Thereafter we had the impression that we were being hurried through our courses. Having not had the reservation, the R lounge did not appreciate that this was a special occasion for us (my wife's big zero birthday) until we sang happy birthday to her at the end of our meal. Food was tasty and view memorable, if slightly marred by the missing reservation.
We had a great time. While we appreciated accommodations because we arrived early, we would have appreciated two forward-facing seats at the window; HOWEVER, we LOVED our server -- Sylvia. She was wonderful!!!! She was responsive, friendly, timely and VERY, VERY helpful in that we're not for NYC and she helped with some questions about locations and transportation. Thanks for making our birthday celebration great -- will see you next time we're in town!!!
Great food and the views were awesome. Booked on someone’s recommendation and I would recommend to others
Took my daughter for her 17th Birthday - had reservations and was placed directly in the front window section overlooking Times Square. She couldn't have been any happier. Our waitress was amazing, the food delicious. We would definitely come back again!
My husband had the ribeye which was served with caulilini (baby cauliflower with green stems and white tips) and yucca fries. He said the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly and yucca fries were good. The caulilini was under-cooked and inedible so he left those behind.
I had the kale and wild mushroom ravioli. It was delicious. It didn't come with the pine nuts as described in the menu but rather did come topped with pea shoots which I enjoyed. The fresh peas, though, were also under-cooked and crunchy and, even though I love peas, I left those on my plate.
We each had a cocktail as we were celebrating our anniversary and the drinks were strong and well-made. The atmosphere was moderately low lighting and cozy and the seating was very comfortable. There's lots to look at as the restaurant hangs directly over Times Square but at billboard height, you will end up watching the same ads over and over again. The best spot to sit is at the back of the restaurant.
Good food and location. Service not good. Started warm and attentive; quickly descended once it was clear we were not getting a full 3 course meal each. The staff seam like they don’t need to give a care
It is a tourist trap but the food is actually good and the prices ok. Service was kind of rude but the view is worth it. I would likely go back
Loved it! Perfect location! You get to enjoy time square without being in the crowded area. Menu prices are good, desserts were delicious.
Lana who was our restaurant host was extremely kind.
Perfect restaurant for a great memory of NY
Great views. Food and service are pretty good
Enjoyed a dinner with family before a Broadway show. Loved watching the crowd in Time Square
We were disappointed with the cocktails - the mango sunset (or something similarly named) did not have any fresh fruit puree as described. It was simply tequila and juice. Waaaaaay overpriced for what was served. Food was good and so was the service - attentive. The table next to us was very loud and rude - horrific language!! So that was distracting but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. We would return.
The server was so kind and knowledgeable. She was very understanding with my high-functioning daughter. The smell (sort of old and warn) and the high volume of our neighbors triggered her sensitivities.
Love the view and like the newly renovated space
We usually stop by once a year
Waiter was so nice
Great for cocktails and apps
Beautiful setting and view of Times Square - we loved it there !
