R Lounge at Two Times Square Ratings and Reviews
Wrap-around, floor to ceiling windows and third floor location make this a very nice lounge with a fantastic view of Times Square. This provides a splendid view with the added benefit of not having to be out there in the madness. We had cocktails, shared some delicious small plates - Soft Pretzels, Fried Shrimp, Lobster Roll, Adult Grilled Cheese, and desserts - Ice Cream Sandwich and Molten Lava Cake. Of these, the grilled cheese believe it or not, was the best.
One complaint - they have a lovely menu of cocktails that would be terrific "mocktails" but are all pre-mixed and can not be made virgin.
We had a very good experience. We arrived 30 mins before our reservation and they were able to accommodate us, appreciate that. Had the strawberry salad and swordfish, both were good. Service was good, our waiter was very attentive. Would definitely return.
Views are unbeatable. Food and drinks were good. Service was nonexistent. In 2 hrs we saw the waitress 3 times and ONLY because we had to ask someone to send her to us each time. Husband waited 40 minutes for second drink. In the end, she gave us some else’s credit card and after a second staff member waved us off, we had to go in search of the owner ourselves. We would have spent 2 or 3 times more if we could have gotten served. Hard to beat the location, but tough to keep that in mind with such bad service.
Fun, vibrant atmosphere with fantastic views of Times Square. Excellent drinks and the food was absolutely delicious although pricey. Our waitress, however, was slow, inattentive, and forgetful. My friend was without silverware for so long after receiving her meal that we had to flag down a different waiter to ask for a fork and knife. It's unfortunate, really, that something so simple -- basic customer service training -- is bringing this fabulous place down. Still an enjoyable experience, but frustrating at times.
I'm only glad I carved out 2 hours ahead of our show to grab a quick bite. We made reservations but apparently that doesn't guarantee you seating at the actual time of reservation. And then the hostess warned me that the only table available had very slow service. And it definitely lived up to that. We ordered two apps and one of them (which was hummus!) took over an hour. When the food finally came, it wasn't bad, but not worth the stress of wondering just how long it would take. The one positive is that it does have a great view of the heart of Times Square from a second floor level, but just be sure you're in no rush to get anywhere else.
Had a brilliant night for our friends 50th birthday, view was outstanding I was glad when I booked to put a comment where we wanted to be seated. Food was great but not a big variety waitress was lovely couldn’t remember her name but she had dark hair and glasses middle age brilliant customer service, great atmosphere definitely would come back and would recommend.
Took my partner out to eat for his birthday/anniversary and we had an amazing time.
The view is what you’re paying for, but it is quite phenomenal. The food was delicious, but the portions could be bigger.
As for the service, they’re really attentive but definitely have snobby attitudes. I got sense of them wanting us to leave to open up the table. Maybe because we didn’t order any alcohol beverages?
Nonethelsss, still worth eating at for what is truly important, and that is being lit up with all of the amazing lights of Times Square.
The reason to go here is the view. You can get drinks and apps anywhere else equally as good. It has one of the best views overlooking times square that i have been too. Lots of tourists taking selfies with the light show from times square outside, who can blame them.
The prices are a bit high but you get a nice size table and was not rushed. very nice for an after show drink. The service could have been a bit better, more professional, but it is what it is. very enjoyable for drinks and apps. Plenty of window tables.
All in all, it was an AMAZING visit. The place was incredible: the view, the food, the ambiance, etc. My only comment would be the service. Our waiter was not around very often and gave us the check without us even asking for it..? I’m the bar manager at the restaurant where I work and am generally very patient at other venues, but it was a bit frustrating. Other than that, FIVE STARS.
We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in the heart of Times Square over the long Thanksgiving Holiday 2017. Our two adult daughters joined us in New York and we planned to celebrate our older daughter's recent promotion and passing off her CPA exams. R Lounge offers incredible views of Times Square from the elevated restaurant that offers floor to ceiling windows and is particularly special at night. My two daughters and I ordered a specialty drinks, small bites and ordered the fish with the fresh fruit salsa. My husband enjoyed a beer with the steak --everyone was pleased. It was the perfect way to dine before we headed to see the "Aladdin" Musical on Broadway nearby.
While I love coming for the view of Times Square, the service this time was just awful. The manager was very accommodating and appreciated his attention. If you want a great view In Times Square for a drink and snack and have some patience, I would still
Recommend coming here.
