   I had not been to RJ Grunts since before the pandemic started. It used to be one of my favorites, but sadly after this visit, it's now off that list, and I likely won't be going back. We were seated for our reservation well after the time of it, then had to ask for a server after waiting for 15 minutes (and seeing others who were seated after us get drinks). The food (3 burgers and a grilled cheese) took WELL over an hour, and not once did the waiter come back to give any updates. Just awful service, too long of a wait for what you get and not a happy experience.

    We picked RJ Grunt’s for dinner because we had tickets to the Lincoln Park Zoolights and I knew it was close to the entrance. I have been coming to RJ’s since 1972 and always loved the 70’s vibe. It’s great that it is still at the same location and small. I really miss the salad bar, I remember that it was the first restaurants that had a salad bar back in the 70’s. We brought my two boys this time and they loved the interior of the restaurant and the music playing. The food is good as always and we enjoyed the time we spent in there last night. We will be back.

    We had a early dinner here before going to Zoolites. As always, it’s a fun experience. Service was good. We had a variety of dishes. No complaints from anyone. We talked about how much we miss the salad bar. They do have an option of ordering a salad with many ingredients but it’s not the same. Salad bar used to include soup, very yummy cream cheese spread, chopped liver. None of that’s included in new salad. But I do understand the reasoning behind it. RJ Grunts is still my favorite “zoo” restaurant! Has been for years.

    We loves RJs but today was not it. We had drinks at the bar before hand and made sure to pay. We were accused of not paying in front our party multiple times until I showed my hard copy receipt. The service was not well at all. Multiple food orders were forgotten and we were disappointed.

    RJ Grunt's is consistently enjoyable food, with great servers and reasonable prices. It's part of our holiday tradition after visiting ZooLights, and it never disappoints.

    I'm not sure how many times I've eaten at RJ Grunts...many times pre-COVID and at least 3 or 4 times since things have re-opened. The kitchen has been consistent all along, I know this because we order the same thing almost every time: Gruntburger medium rare for me, a bowl of RJ's Famous Chili for my wife. This visit was no exception, both were perfect. I like the homemade chips which come standard with the burger. Sometimes a few of them are a bit soggy, but yesterday they were all super crunchy. I did note that the burger was served on a dinner plate last night, instead of a basket with wax paper. Also there were three pickle rounds instead of one spear. I like the plate vs. the basket, but would rather have the spear. Also, decided to get a pitcher of 3 Floyd's Zombie Dust, rather than ordering two rounds of two pints. Turned out the pitcher is not quite 4 pints, although it was a little less expensive than 4 beers. So not sure any savings to be had with a pitcher...

    Has an old school 1970s vibe with music, memorabilia on the walls and a cool, neighborhood ambience with a great view of the park and love the dim lighting and most of all a great menu with a monster burger, great chili, amazing salad bar and killer shakes that you can combine flavors! Be ready for some delicious food and leftovers because they are generous with their portions at RJ Grunts. Our server was the best! He was very informative, timely service and checked in with us from time to time in case we needed anything else

    Good has always been fantastic here. It was very crowded for a Wednesday night. Our server was adorable and tried his best to keep up but he was busy. I love their new digital salad bar..so so yummy!

    Loved the food. It was crowded but a nice flow. I made reservations but even if people didn’t, they got in fairly quickly. I still would make reservations. Waitress was very attentive even though it was packed.

    The food was terrible and service here was slacking. Then when we got the bill there was a sur charge for fun and extra charges for salad ingredients. Avoid this place if at all possible. This is the second and last time I will be here. Terrible!!!

    Not as good as it used to be. With the removal of the salad bar a lot has gone with it. The price is higher, doesn't include soup and they got rid of the jello and chocolate chip cream cheese. They took the BLT off the menu but have a turkey club so I asked for the turkey to be substituted for bacon. They gave me the club without the turkey or the added bacon. Just a sad little sandwich. Little things matter. The food is still good and we will visit on occasion. But the bottom line is you are getting less for more money. And they still charge the covid service charge (which they remove if you request). In addition they won't take reward dollars on Saturdays anymore which was obviously a corporate decision. Bottom line is less for more money.

    Always great lunch. Who’s got a little pricey since the pandemic and they refuse to pay the 3% sur a charge I tip well overall it’s 50 years we’ve been going there so we really enjoy it
