R+D Kitchen - Yountville Ratings and Reviews
Went with some friends before a show at the Lincoln Theater. Prompt service which helped us to get to the show on time.
The wait staff could have checked in on us, however, as we had to flag one down to order a dessert to share. This is the second time this has happened to me there, so I think the staff should check in more frequently, as we shouldn't have to get their attention.
Went here with my girlfriend, 47 minute drive, very worth it. Food very good, really professional, atmosphere is lively and friendly, a lot of happy faces, happy chefs, happy waiters, very positive vibe and positive attitude. Food was great, sushi is exotic and unique, very tasty. Shrimp is spot on and crunchy. Recommended, food is worth the value, high price for great quality food. Restaurant is clean, decorative, and very casual, which I love. 10/10 will be coming back. Recommend the shrimp and coconut sushi roll, best sushi I ever had.
We don't normally eat in chain restaurants, but this is one I had never heard of, and they only have a small number of locations. We had lunch on a weekday, and the place was hopping! The Honor Cheeseburger was excellent, and the truffle fries were very good, though hard to eat because they were thinly cut. My husband's spinach and cheese omelet was excellent. Our server, Lisa, was delightfully friendly. Total bill for 1 cheeseburger, 1 fries "for the table", 1 omelet, and 1 glass of wine was $44, plus tax and tip. I would enjoy having lunch here again.
It was a wet, rainy cold night in Napa Valley, yet this restaurant was packed with folks having a good time. ( They have a huge patio area that could not be used with the rain). We had a reservation and were seated on time. We were greeted at our table by our server within minutes of being seated. The good service continued through the evening. Excellent preparation of the apps and main courses was had. The sushi menu items were a meal in them selves. A great place to people watch. If you are a walk in, sitting at the bar is entertaining.
We've met another couple at R&D twice now, and both times we had a wonderful experience. Beautiful food presentation and excellent service. A little noisy but talking was not difficult. Both couples drive an hour each way to eat here and it is worth the drive.
Salads are as visually impressive as they are fresh and delicious! I am not a fan of raw fish, but the tuna tartare is an often-repeated selection! Same for the yummy kale salad for a side to share!
Very generous portions-
Servers are consistently knowledgeable and personable.
The food came out perfect and quickly. The service was average. Our waitress spilled wine on the table with every pour. The occasion was my wife's birthday. Nothing special was offered for the occasion. The restaurant is very nice and I would recommend it for lunch or dinner.
This was our first time dining at R& D Kitchen and it won't be our last. We had an amazing dinner with even better service. The drinks were perfect and the food outstanding. We didn't get to sit outside due to the weather, but they have a great outdoor bar area to enjoy. We look forward to our next visit to the wine country and will for sure be back to R&D.
My mother in law was visiting from Boston so we decided to take her to Napa since that's one of her favorite places. This time around we would have to bring along our 15 month old. I researched kid friendly wineries and restaurants and was happy when I saw the R&D kitchen was recommended as a kid friendly restaurant. Upon arrival I was asked to put away my stroller- no big deal as I assumed this kid friendly restaurant would have high chairs. As we waited for our table to be ready my mother in law went outside to take pictures of the restaurant. While taking selfies outside the restaurant she was asked twice by two different employees if she needed any help. Not sure what that was all about. I guess people can't take selfies. Once our table was called we asked for a high chair and the waitress told us that they didn't have any- not even a booster chair. I told them that we had chosen this place because it was kid friendly to which she told me. "We have grilled cheese sandwiches" Are you kidding me?! By then I just wanted to eat as fast as possible and leave since my 15 month old is quite active. We ordered our food which was good for the most part. My mother in law ordered the meatloaf with spinach and mashed potatoes. When the plate arrived the dish had cold Swiss chard... which my MIL hates. It would've been nice if they told her that they had ran out of the spinach. When we asked for a substitution the waitress seemed very annoyed and it was a very awkward situation for all. I could go on and on but I'll just end it by saying that we won't be back. And if you have a toddler think about going somewhere else- unless you really want to try their grilled cheese sandwiches!
Refined food at breakneck speed!
I chose this place because of the variety on the menu (yay, sushi!) and it seemed less stuffy than other fancy places in Yountville. It has a more casual feel, very lively with the bar and outdoor firepits. We ordered Crush cocktails, which were refreshing, although progressively more sweet. The Spicy Tuna Osaka Style sushi appetizer was fresh, balanced and delicious. We shared the wild mushroom meatloaf (which was hearty, though the mushrooms were a bit lost) but the meatloaf was completely overshadowed by the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which was amazing. The slaw, spices and chicken worked together perfectly. The only downside was the pace -- all the food came out (and plates cleared) incredibly quickly, with no pause to digest. The waiter dropped off the check before asking about dessert or coffee, (only after we inquired). I think we actually ate too quickly and felt kind of sick from the pace! My partner is from New York so we are used to snappy service, but this was more brisk than a NY Deli, and ended up working against the experience. I'd return, but not for a romantic dinner.
Hubby and I came for an early Valentine's lunch and we were very impressed. It was close to Chandon, where he took me champagne tasting, so the location was perfect! The ambiance is great and service outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and polite and the food was delicious. I had the Veggie Sandwich and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Everything tasted so fresh and didn't sit heavy in the stomach. I would definitely recommend dining at R+D and I plan to return in the near future!
We had a weekend get away for our family and wanted to have a nice lunch. This place hit all the spots, menu had some good diversity including sandwiches and salads, pretty nice ambiance and location. The Chicken and Carnitas sandwiches were great in flavor, look, etc. The Thai salad was so fresh , including the mangoes.
To end we had some espresso and excellent carrot cake. The cake was so light and the texture was impressive
We had all ordered different type meals. And we all loved our choices! One had the hamburger a very picky person and she loved it. One a carnitas sandwich he loved it. One a Thai steak salad looked amazing and she loved it. One sushi roll, a little small but loved it. And I ordered the cashew kale salad which was great. Everyone went away very happy!
