I lunched there with my mom and my sister late on a weekday afternoon to miss any lunchtime rush, so it was quiet (no loud music) and relaxed. We started with the fried calamari appetizer: it was more than enough for the three of us. My main dish seafood stew was delicious and plentiful, and my mom and sister said the same about their entrees (basil pesto pasta and seafood ravioli). We all took home doggie bags and made two to three meals of our leftovers! The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely return to Quinn's.

Quinn's Never Disappoints!

I hadn't eaten here for several weeks and it was good as always. The service was great as usual, even though there were several large parties to serve! The Cajun clams were well seasoned and delicious. The Pear and Gargonzola salad was fresh and crisp with ample cheese and nuts.
I would highly recommend this establishment. It isn't fancy but it's dependable!

This restaurant came highly recommended by our friends so it was on our list to try when our nephew was in town on business. We enjoyed a relaxing Tuesday evening with a great sunset view of the sailboat harbor. The clam chowder was yummy, followed by surf & turf (steak & shrimp), duda (rice, beans, veggies, shrimp), and seafood au gratan, leaving no room for dessert. We took what we couldn't finish home and ate it the next night for supper. Entrees are large enough to share if you have soup and/or appetizers beforehand. Prices are reasonable so we will return to try more entrees with family and friends. It is worth the drive from San Jose but allow extra time for commuter traffic.

The food was pretty mediocre for the price. The service was pretty bad. Once we got our food, we were never checked on again, despite having empty drinks. Was also never brought the water I requested, so went through the whole meal parched.

I've been going to Quinn's for a couple of months now. This is the first time for Sunday brunch. In a word it was disappointing. I had the eggs Benedict but the eggs were overcooked and the ham slices were small. I love Quinn's for lunch and dinner, but would not recommend them for Sunday brunch.

I usually don't write negative reviews but this visit to QUinn's for a BD celebration was the worst I can remember in many BD events there. The food (fish and chips, open faced salmon) was not good: dry and overcooked. The BD cake (although complimentary) did not have the special presentation that usually occurs. The worst part was being rushed. There were three of us. When only one was finished, the waiter took the plate for leftovers, reaching over one of the guests. Then when the next person was finished, the waiter again took the plate while the third person wasn't finished. It seems that with the new menu, the prices have gone up the but food and service has not. I won;t go there again because this was so disappointing, when in the past I could say, I have never been disappointed.Food and service has been reliable and great. I would guess that the ownership has changed.

Food was below average, soup served in piping hot Bowl that after two servings of ice, required a substitute food order! Crab cakes arrived smothered in oil resulting in intestinal distress.
We are old time Oakland residents would likely only return fir beer on tap and peanuts!
Wait staff was great and helpful.

Again Quinn's excels. My son and I had the lambs shanks in curry sauce. Superb. Moist and fork tender. My daughter in law had the Cioppino. She couldn't eat it all but took it home in a container. I had the apple pie al a mode. Wonderful. Rich flaky crust and sweet apple filling. The DIL had a multiple layered lemon cake that she raved over. Forgot what sonny had, but it was woofed away in seconds; so it must have been excellent. And as usual the view over the Oakland Estuary was entertaining with some local feeding the ducks that swam among the boats at pier.

One major detraction...flies. They were everywhere. I know Quinn's is aware of them as the maitre d' was swatting at them when we walked in. But they really have to do something better than what they've done thus far to get rid of the flies.

Highly recommended.

We had a group lunch at Quinn's. Many of us had not been to Quinn's for many years so it was nice to come back. The service was excellent and the staff was helpful and professional. The food was mixed. Some was excellent, (the baby lobster pasta), and some was okay, (the coconut shrimp was the generic frozen fried shrimp). The smoked salmon salad was packaged salmon with canned peaches and canned pineapple which was not satisfactory priced at over $20. All in all we were surprised when the total for lunch came to over $40 each (incl tax and tip) when we had NO alcohol or dessert, only entrees, cups of chowder, and lemonade. It just didn't seem like good value for our dollars, but it is what it is.

Fun location on th Embarcadero, and our waiter was great. The problem was that the food didn't match the high prices. The pear and gorgonzola salad was covered in candied pecan dust which made it too sweet. Worse, my friends steak was overcooked....twice. They comped her dinner, but still very disappointing.

Really a gem. Long menu of a variety of foods: meat, seafood, salads, etc. Big portions, two in my party took doggie bags. Super attentive service by someone who has been waiting on tables for a long time and knew just how to do it. Plenty of parking in a lot across the street, or on the street itself. Great ambiance both inside and out...it sits across the estuary from the Coast Guard Island. One member had a ham etc sandwich with pineapple. She claimed it was delicious, but had to eat it piecemeal as it was really big. Another had the crab cakes, three of them when the standard is two. Couldn't finish. I had the prawn and shrimp Louie; excellent, the seafood was fresh and tasty and the dressing was a bit spicy...yum. $40 per person with drinks from the bar. Highly recommended.

We live in San Francisco & were meeting a younger relative in Oakland. I'm not familiar with Oakland Restaurants so I went on Open Table for suggestions. This looked fun & funky with an extensive menu. It was wonderful. Other reviews mentioned James was a fabulous server. We had Jay (James was off) & Jay was fantastic. Very knowledgeable & most helpful. The food was great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant & plan to return.

Understaffed on Sunday Father's Day. Waiter nice, but definitely needed help. Slow kitchen and brunch , eggs Florentine and Benedict cooked hard. Our meals came out sporadically over a 15 minute period. Too bad, this was once a fun place. Food and service definitely disappointing.

Great location on the water in an historic building. Inside looks tired and the food tastes similiarly, tired. Service however was very good, responsive and friendly. That alone is not enough for us to return...the kitchen has to elevate its game.

This place is a staple and James the waiter is the gem that would make you return. I would love to go in and give it a face lift but I can dream. The food was not cheap and I must say not completely fabulous but the quirky little spot of history and the drinks make it worth the occasional trip. Would love to see more vegetarian options. Too expensive for regular dining but didn't try the outside (too cold) or the happy hour menu as we were too late.

Service was abysmal. Understanding it was Mother's Day, the staff seemed completely unprepared. One of our meals arrived almost 20 minutes after the others, with no apology or offer to make good. And the food was awful. My salad came saturated with dressing, and there were cups of the other ingredients sitting on the plate. No special acknowledgement or celebration of Mother's Day, even though there were three of us in the party. In fact, the drink order of the oldest mom in our clan was completely forgotten until the staff received their third reminder, again without apology or made good.

We won't be back.

Took my wife there for Mothers Day, my wife had the Dinky Doo Seafood Stew. She love it! She added the broiled Salmon so it had all the things she loves in it. I had the Jazzy Jambalaya Omelette, I added cheddar cheese. It was also very flavorful . Excellent service from our waiter James, very attentative , knowledgeable , and kept us hydrated.
Quinn's Lighthouse has very good seafood but what's so great about them are the non seafood items on the menu, they taste great also.

Quinn's is usually a good place to have a burger and a beer on the smallish deck, or eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor in the large room upstairs. There is a large dining area downstairs, without the peanuts, where one can have a pretty good meal. We both ordered fish and chips the other night and they were quite disappointing. Generally fish and chips consists of large juicy pieces of cod or other white fish plus large thick steak fries. This fish looked like it had been sliced from a fillet rather than served as a fillet. It was very dry because of the thinness of the pieces...about a half-inch thick and not my idea of battered fish. The fries were regular thin fries and while good, not what I think of as "chips". There were very few people in the restaurant at 7:00 p.m., rather unusual. Maybe everyone was upstairs eating peanuts. Service was excellent, however, and Quinn's is usually a good value. We'll go again but we won't have the fish and chips.
