About Quiessence at The Farm at South Mountain

Quiessence at The Farm at South Mountain Ratings and Reviews
Everything was amazing. From the timing of the food that comes out between each dish to the knowledge the waitress (Patricia) had on each dish and the pairing of the wines! The food was delicious from the first bite to the last. I would highly recommend doing the 6 course with the wine pairing. Wowsers!!! That was awesome!
The location in Phoenix is a hidden gem. Quiet country setting with great ambience. We had the 6 course meal and each course was an amazing creation. The duck pate is phenominal, as well as the pistachio soup. The fresh goat cheese was to die for. The whole meal from start to finish was expertly described by the waitress. and the wine selection was quite good.
I would definitely recommend going and will return myself.
Food was outstanding, different from your regular place, don't forget to ask for dessert. Really looking forward to try a different season's menu, service is also top notch.
The place is perfect for celebrating a special ocassion, outside seating in the garden provides a good place to have a nice conversation.
Disappointed. Two hours in, we were only getting our third course of a 6 course meal. Then they told us at almost 10pm that the dessert we ordered at 7:30 was no longer available. After we told them we didn’t want the other options, the manager told us the dessert was available...
The food was spectacular, but the restaurant was too slow and we did not appreciate the dessert fiasco. They offered us a gift card after we had paid our full bill, but that did nothing for us since we are from out of town. The waiter was nice, but I am not sure what was going on with the rest of the meal dynamics.
An amazing meal that will linger on the taste buds for a long time to come. You can't get more romantic than this secluded little restaurant. Just be prepared to make a night out of it. Our five course meal took three hours. The couple next to us couldn't handle it and bailed after only getting through two courses in two hours.
Food was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff but oh the wait. Serious kitchen issues. 5 course tasting should not take 3+ hours. We watched same exact course coming out to other tables while we watched patiently. Need to seriously upgrade seats if you expect us to sit so long.
Amazing food with beautiful presentation. We did the six course tasting and it was tremendous quality of food. The waiter was kind and enthusiastic. The only issue was that the speed of the kitchen was glacial. It took 3.5 hours for our meal and frankly it was even slow to get us our pre-dinner drink (20+minutes). Beautiful place and if they can get the service to match the food, it would be truly fantastic.
This place is absolutely stunning. Such a romantic place. The staff are incredible and so friendly. We have been here 3 times for our anniversary and always have the best experience. We would highly recommend this place for a special date or night out with your love.
The food is just awesome. I would love for them to get Michelin rated. I have been here 3-4 times of the last 2 years and I have been impressed each time. Beautiful atmosphere and fantastic cocktails and food choices. If you like farm to table food prepared by a master chef this is the place for you.
We hadn't been back to Quiessence in far too long. We had a fabulous, slow meal, with great service, under the stars on the lawn, for a special occasion. Outstanding drinks and delicious food. Most of the yumminess is sourced locally, many vegetables and herbs from the property. This truely is a PHX gem and we highly recommend it.
Wonderful food, service was also great! It really is a beautiful restaurant- the setting is spectacular.
We had a table of nine - range from 6-92. Two practicing vegans and two who also ate vegan. And two children under the age of 11. Everyone was happy with food. Eating outside would have been great but, but also great that we had nice sized room to ourselves.
Minor complaints - place is really not handicapped accessible. If you have trouble ambulating - you're gonna have trouble. I got the bread pudding it was good, but the sorbet was terrific - shoulda ordered that.
The pistachio soup was great and so was the duck. Everything else was very good.
Get the sorbet.
Wonderful!!!! Such an enchanting evening. The grounds are so pleasant; the ambience superb and the food so wonderfully prepared. The halibut tortellini was a marvelous combination of flavors. The steak was quite unusual but lovely and their bread pudding to die for. The staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go again.
Celebrating an anniversary, staff made it very special from the very beginning. We did the 5 course chef’s choice with wine pairings. Excellent! Jus the right amount of food. All courses wonderfully prepared and explained. Felt like a guest judge for Top Chef! Sat outside under the lighted trees and moonlight. Nice music in the background, tables spaced with plenty of room. Staff was attentive but not overdone.
Food was fair. Had the 7 course pairing and was underwhelmed at best. Four people and 2 bottles of wine with tip $1,000.00 should have gone to Kai Restaurant and had a incredible experience and is a 5 star restaurant and would not be $1,000.00 and if it was it would be worth the price. If the food was a WOW and not table spoon size then maybe it would have been worth the price. Nothing special and would not recommend again. This was the third time eating at the restaurant ... 3rd time was not a charm.... Done and over.
First, the views when walking up to the restaurant are gorgeous. Definitely lots of spots for great photos.
We did the five course Chef's Tasting and added on the Foi Gras Torchon and Chef's Spread.
The Chef's Spread is amazing with meats cured by the Chef, local cheeses and house made spreads and pickled veggies.
First course was the Pistachio Soup with Pork Belly. There was a spicy addition to the soup which brought Southwest heat to the dish.
Second course was the Beef Carpaccio. The bread spoons are unique and the blue cheese aioli bring a creaminess to the buttery meat.
Third course was a Halibut Tortilini. The almonds and poached tomatoes went so well with the seafood pasta.
For the entree I had the Halibut. The sear created a buttery and crispy texture which was delicious.
For dessert we had the Opera Cake with Liquid Nitrogen Prickly Pear Ice Cream. The chocolate with the fruit was amazing. I also loved the candied citrus.
I highly recommend trying the garden cocktails. I ordered the Manhattan and had the option to have the glass smoked.
My husband and I had the most amazing night of farm fine dining at Quiessence. From atmosphere to service to food, everything was perfect. They went out of their way to replace a few things on the tasting menu because of my dietary restrictions while my husband got all the regular tasting dishes. And for a tasting menu, the plates were not small, but everything was so delicious, nothing was left behind. A wonderful anniversary that felt far away from the city, though very accessible. I've already recommended this place to friends in Phoenix AND from out of town.
We REALLY wanted to love Quiessence but unfortunately it was just okay. Outdoor seating area is way too dark, literally you are sitting in the dark with one weak votive candle on your table, service is average and very slow, not in a paced out kind of way, but in a way that is almost insulting. Order a drink if you can get someone to ask because it will be a very long time before you get it. Our server was not friendly at all, when telling us about the property it was almost as if she was put out with having to say her speech over and over. The food, wow so underwhelming and it was so dark you really could not see what you were eating. We were a party of 4 and one person really liked their dish ( halibut).
Sad to say, we will not be going back and with all the many great places to eat in the valley would not recommend it to anyone.
It is in a beautiful farm setting. The menu is somewhat small but very interesting. Quiessence has been a key player in the farm to table movement in America, and has a 4.8 out 5 stars Zagat rating. We did the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and were not disappointed. The pistachio soup and need carpaggio were mind blowing! The service was phenomenal, and while it was very pricey the experience was well worth it.
Reservation was for a special birthday for my husband. It was very romantic, food was wonderful and the service could not be beat. Never was rushed and so we truly enjoyed ourselves in the quite front patio. It was such a nice change to eat and talk and be treated like we were very special people - being well taken care of and catered to. We look forward to going back again.
