Fantastic experience. Flavor profiles were spot on and you could feel the love for and appreciation of the ingredients in every dish.
Absolutely wonderful experience: location, food and service.
What ruined the whole experience for me was being served an absolutely terrible 'NY aged strip steak', the most expensive entree' on the menu, which was basically uncutable, inedible, tough , fat and not even warm. Anyone would have known not to serve it,let alone a restaurant apparently known for 'fine dining'. Since my fellow diners were enjoying their entrees (not steak),I did not send it back to dim the evening. I never send things back, I just never return.
We went with high hopes after reading their web site.
Staff was very nice and professional.. They offered a wine pairing for dinner, so we went with that.
The first course was was a charcuterie board with edible flowers and in house smoked sausage along with some local cheeses, served with a sparkling red wine. This was the best corse.
I love good goat cheeses, but sheep raised in AZ are eating hay and not lush green fields, with gives their cheeses a very gamey flavor, which is not that good to me.
Presentation was great, lots of love and care put into it.
But, the food was just not that good to us. The bite of salmon that came out looked wonderful but tasted VERY FISHY!
Squash soup was good.
The pasta dish looked great but pasta was in half in balls and very doughy and flavorless.
The wines were very small glasses and did not seem to enhance the food.
Main courses were salmon which was very raw and very fishy which means its old fish.
Game hen was good, it was a little salty as it was brined. It was juicy.
The total bill with tip was over $450. We felt it was NOT worth it.
If the food was as good as their presentation it would be wonderful, but sorry to say it was NOT.
Beautiful setting, excellent food, informative, friendly and thorough service. We truly enjoyed our dining experience. I highly recommend going for te 6-coutures option! I’ll be back when I’m in town!
We tried Quiessence for the first time during the Thanksgiving holiday season. It was easy to make our reservation through open table, they sent two reminders, and the restaurant also called to remind us! This is a comfortable, elegant, yet rustic, restaurant with inventive, flavorful, creative food. The service was impeccable, the cocktails were inventive. The meal was one we will always remember as being one of our best dining experiences in Phoenix.
The food is outstanding. The only negative is the pace of the dinner. I was eating alone and the time between courses was significant.
One of the best meals ever-we travel globally trying “farm to table” and this one is amazing!!!
Great ambience, amazing and attentive staff. Chef was so friendly and greeted us at the table and checked in on our experience. But most importantly, the food did not disappoint. I Loved everything I ate. Will definitely return.
The outdoor seating was magical, under the stars made for a truly romantic evening. We opted for the 6 course with wine pairing on suggestion of our server. Each plate was unique in flavor and presentation. Our favorite was the Chef's Spread - a lot of different flavors and textures that worked great together. The other courses were all very good (although the soup was a bit salty) - met the expectation set based on the reviews. Where the evening fell short was in the wine pairing. I understand everyone has a different wine palate and pairing can be based on those personal preferences. What I don't understand is selecting "pedestrian" wine which actual takes away from the food. The wines offered this past weekend did a disservice to the food Chef had created. The Rhone GSM was so young it bordered on being "earthy", the opening Rose was too sweet and the dessert wines were not worth serving. We discussed this with our server and he agreed the wines were OK and selected to meet a price point. I understand every wine served will not be an award winner but for $59++/pp, I would expect 2-3 standouts. To add the final insult to the wine disappointment, one of the wines served was corked and had to be sent back.
Would I go back absolutely, the food was that good. Only next time I'll opt for a bottle of wine of my choosing.
Great experience and ambience for our anniversary! The reviews are correct, from sitting outside in the patio, their wine recommendations, five courses of pure excellence. Would highly recommend to others.
Magical like something out of Alice In Wonderland. Delicious and beautiful! Amazing chef and support staff. Healthy and creative cuisine in a garden of roses. Don’t miss the wine pairings they’re perfection!!! Thank you chef for an unforgettable night, we will be back!!
Phenomenal meal!! Great setting and service.
Great evening of quiet dining. The food was wonderful and the environment was amazing. I would highly recomend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic and romantic meal, set is a wonderful location.
Fantastic experience for that special occasion. The food is all so well-thought out, fresh, tantalizing, and meticulously prepared. We had the farm fresh board and could have eaten it over an hour to taste all the amazing flavors in different combinations. I also had the buttermilk brine battered cornish hen and it was the best poultry I have ever tasted.
Great food, innovative menu, with just a small miss on the timing of one course (the kitchen missed it and we were waiting about 30 minutes for the entree course in the tasting menu). That said, stuff happens and the overall experience is still excellent.
If Antony Bourdain was still gracing the planet with his presence - he'd love this place the honest but true culinary artistic creativity of the chef.
This used to be one of my favorite places to dine. The last couple of times I have gone the place continues to decay. Service has declined and the food is no longer the taste explosion for your taste buds. It is still a good meal but not outstanding any longer.
Fantastic Service! The Farm has a great ambience! A great experience!
Amazing food. You have to do the wine pairings with the courses. Sit by the fireplace if possible but just know there is a mandatory 8 course meal, but it’s worth it.
The food was "amazing" and "terrific" and whatever other superlatives you'd assign to delicious food. I feel a little bad about rating Quiessence a "3" on value, but "value" isn't the point of fine dining -- it never is. The point is sharing a chef's creation with friends and family. This is a beautiful setting with perfect service and wonderful cuisine. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Phoenix in search of an excellent meal.
Amazing food, great environment and I could actually talk with my wife without having to yell.
Very nice place, good food, great service. Came out for date night with the spouse and ended up doing the six course meal. Overall had a good experience.
Wonderful culinary experience with a very knowledgeable staff. The tasting menu is a treat for the senses
Food was amazing! each and every dish was perfect. Location is good, quiet and personal. Takes time for each dish to arrive, I am assuming it was intentional to keep up the anticipation and savour each and every dish. Little pricey but extremely worth it. I would recommend this place.
Had an amazing dinner for my daughter's birthday. We felt special. Staff were attentive and the meals were delicious. The chef was able to accommodate our many food allergies. There was a little bit of a lag between courses, but, with such a nice atmosphere, it was no problem. Definitely recommend this hidden gem!!
If we knew that we were going to be served baby portions, we would have never gone
Beautiful grounds! However was seated directly next to the kiosk which just seemed strange given the ample grounds. Food was good though the pasta dish was lacking and for the price of six courses plus the wine pairings the pours were light and I was just left underwhelmed... maybe my expectations were too high but again for the price tag for two, I expected a far higher culinary experience.
We enjoyed the pace of each course. It was well timed and the server helped us pick a very good selection of wine so we could wine pair it with our courses. The atmosphere and the staff were very nice. Food was amazing on every level.
No I would not. If you have 3 1/2 hours available for dinner this is your place. Arrived at 6:45pm...Reservations were at 7pm. Table not ready? (saw 3 tables empty at arrival) Out at 10:45pm. This was our first visit. If you want a dinner place with your lady do your research.
Sent to wine bar to wait. Not a bar. Table with 6 high back chairs. No service at the wine bar. Asked to review wine menu...25 minutes into visiting the wine bar we were asked would I like a choice of 3 different waters.
Dinner. Service was from 4 different servers. Six course meal was ordered. 30-45 minutes between each course. Preparation was present, but food was short on taste. Portions are way to small. Main course (Halibut) was salty and over cooked.
After seating through a six course meal you would think one would not be hungry. I was Hungry leaving this place.
Really good farm to table!
Open Table said the price was $30-50, this is WRONG!
The cheapest menu item was $79, but worth it!
Myself and my wife went for my birthday dinner. Jarod was an excellent waiter, the entire staff was friendly and explained every dish. Every plate had a beautiful, perfect presentation and was packed with flavor. All nestled in a picturesque grotto with a rustic home feel. My wife and I can not wait to revisit!
The place was great. Very good food, nice and quiet allowing more time with my wife. I suggest getting he 6 course option as all the food was excellent.
Service was disjointed, not great but not awful and courses served in a haphazard off-rhythm sort of way. Courses were a bit on the large size and lacking complexity of flavor one would expect for all the hype. Again the food wasn’t bad (except for the horribly over salted and over cooked swordfish) but disappointingly mediocre. Wine pairings were done quite well. Outdoor dining is a nice touch with good ambiance but the interior seating was far too bright for my taste. Overall I’d rate everything on the lower end of mediocre for any well traveled foodies.
What an amazing feast for the senses! My husband and I were in Phoenix for a conference and came for the weekend to enjoy a bit of vacation time. We wanted to find a truly memorable experience to celebrate our recent anniversary and boy did we find it here. Already with the drive into the place, you feel like the night is going to be special - driving over a dirt road onto a farm surrounded by twinkle lights. Then restaurant has a garden rustic feel which hints at its farm roots. And now combine it with the amazing gastro experience you are about to have and voila - an amazing evening. Come hungry because you will not want to miss out on enjoying every bite.... We are soooo lucky to have found this place. We cannot wait to tell our friends about it.
Fabulous. It is worth ordering the 6 course tasting menu and wine pairing even if you feel you need to be wheeled away from the table. Thoughtful and innovative courses that are as visually appealing as they taste. The wine pairing are well matched. The service was superb and the setting idyllic. Just plan to spend the evening. This dining experience is not rushed.
Weekend tasting menu was delicious, just right portions and pacing, wine pairings sublime. I want a bag of the carpaccio-in-parmesan-shells to take home!
I’ve been here twice for dinner & once for a wedding. It’s easily one of my favorite -maybe my favorite- restaurant in the valley. The ambiance is low key but so relaxing, inviting & just easy. The service is always top notch, always the kindest, most accommodating servers. The food is outstanding, no matter what you order. The presentation of the food, the way it’s cooked & spiced just right is always so wonderful. This place just always has such a great vibe. It has a way of making you feel so good. Can’t wait to come back.
Great service! Very attentive server who helped us with timing as we decided last minute to have dinner before one of us had to catch a flight to Europe. Proximity to PHX airport (less than 15 minutes !), yet wonderful backdrop with The Farm at South Mountain. Organic Farm with excellent and innovative food composition, delicious and with attention to details - Thank You!
