Quetzalcoatl Fine Mexican Cuisine Ratings and Reviews
I had an amazing time at the restaurant, the food was excellent and the drinks were perfect.
I was able to have a conversation because the music was very pleasant and not loud at all.
I definitely recommend this place because of the excellent food and drinks they have.
We had a very nice experience at Quetzalcoatl. The service was top-notch, everyone was super friendly and responsive. We, and many other tables, were provided a free appetizer and dessert that were absolutely delicious! For dinner, the Mexico City tacos were good, but a little on the bland side. The shrimp tacos were well seasoned but the shrimp was really dry.
Took 40 minutes to get a cocktail. We were seated upstairs and the carpet looked like it was from 1975 - really dark and dingy, looked quite dirty. Food was mediocre, really no flavor, just blah, not what you'd expect from a restaurant that was packed solid on a Saturday night. Excellent mojito but that was about it. I had originally ordered the white sangria but it looked AND tasted like bath water, almost as if a 5 year old lined up all the liquor in the bar and poured it in with a handful of fruit. Nasty stuff. Bill came to $129 - wish we went to Taco Bell instead. Meal was not even worth $20.
Always pleases and never disappoints! Great tacos and many other dishes. Live entertainment on most weekends make it even more enjoyable and lively! Ephrin (not sure spelled correctly, sorry) the bartender makes great drinks and always serves with a smile! One of my "regular" restaurant choices in town!
Though the restaurant was crowded, we were seated immediately as per our reservation.
We ordered margaritas which were strong and refreshing.
Then we ordered a medium size guacamole for 3 people. We thought it was table side quac but it came already made with 4 chips. It was too smooth as if it had too much filler and not very flavorful. Two persons in our party ordered fajitas.
The chicken in the fajita was rubbery and tasteless. It was accompanied by sides of beans and rice. There was no guacamole or sour cream that usually comes with every other fajita I have had at other restaurants.
The wait staff were pleasant and attentive.
In summary it was a disappointing experience except for the margarita.
Came here on a Friday night with my hubby for dinner. The staff was very very nice, the decor was very Mexican and in style. Even the bathroom had custom paintings on all 4 walls.
They gave us appetizer and dessert free on the house!!!!! For no reason, they are just nice!!
We ordered the chicken and steak with guacamole for appetizer. The guacamole is so amazingggggggggggggg! The steak was juicy and soft and well cooked. The chicken and mole sauce is so very nice and thick with flavor.
They also had live music which was unexpected and very nice!
We will definitely return!
Good Food. Good Ambiance
Although there were several small mistakes ... so I have to take a star away. i.e no napkins at tables when we arrived and nor received for several minutes... we had to ask.
The bus boy took our silverware away after appetizers ... so when dinner arrived we had no silver ware ... I figured waiter noticed we had no silverware ... he did not ... again we had to ask.
Too bad... this place has the potential of a 5 star restaurant, but falls short probably because a lack of training.
Typically I love this place. But this night we were crammed in - there was live music that was way too loud in a building that is not made to handle music. The noise bounced off every wall and it was impossible to have a conversation. It was even impossible for our waitress to hear us taking the order. Food took exceptionally long - like 55 minutes. Three of us had he Carnes Asada and it was dry and hard to eat as if it was left under heat lamp for too long.
I loved this place in the past and was very disappointed this time around.
Food was overpriced for the quality ($10 small guacamole was essentially a single-serving, and didn't taste very fresh). Live music was excellent, and drinks were delicious. Unfortunately, we noticed that there were notable differences in the quality of service depending on the server, and our waitress was constantly texting at the hostess table and not available for refills on chips, water, or drinks. We wanted to order a second round of drinks, but our waitress did not come back until she brought the check. Some of our entrees came out cold, and though the portions were good, it was not a place I would recommend for a special occasion (we went to celebrate a birthday), as several of our meals were bland and/or not as fresh as we would prefer. I don't typically write reviews, but was disappointed enough in this experience to contribute. Would be better off visiting Pancho Villa's in town for a sit-down Mexican place or Oaxaca for better tasting meals.
Table downstairs was next to other patrons who were shouting. It was so loud downstairs (screaming patrons over the live music) we asked to be moved upstairs which was better.
The guacamole was okay but small portion. The tacos were good but the steak fajitas were chewy and disappointing. Jelly jar for a strawberry margarita instead of a margarita glass. Okay and nice staff but after reserving a table and being in such a bad location we were disappointed. I guess it just ruined the experience.
We were a little disappointed in the quality of the food! The atmosphere is vibrant and the staff are very friendly and attentive! The real reason I gave so many stars!!!! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and there was live music! All four of us were unhappy with our order which shows it was not as good as we anticipated! Hope you have better luck! 😉 With all the wonderful choices of restaurants in Huntington...we will be trying many other places from this point forward.
I wasn't hungry enough to truly enjoy this place but definitely glad I went. We had tickets to a show at the paramount and arrived a bit late for our 630 reservation, but were seated promptly. The live music was a wonderful touch and the waitress was great, attentive without being annoying. We didn't get any appetizers and both of us ordered assorted tacos which were tasty and reasonably priced. My only complaint would be the hot sauce wasn't hot enough, but otherwise, I'd definitely go back and try other dishes. We did get a half pitcher of red sangria which was great and flan dessert. I swear it tasted the same as Goya flan but I like that it's rich and creamy so I didn't mind. All in all, I was not disappointed.
I haven't beeen to this restaurant for awhile and unfortunately I was disappointed with the dish I ordered. It was a special for that night. The vegetables were overcooked and soggy and the shrimp were so over cooked they were rubber-like.
The guacamole was good, the pitcher of mojitos weak and bland and needed a generous handful of mint and more lime juice to give it some flavor.
I dined with 3 others and they seemed to like their food or at least didn't say anything was off. Maybe I just picked the wrong dish and beverage.
Oh! By the way there was a very talented guitarist playing and singing by the bar. The music was good but way too loud for the space. He would be more appreciated if he turned the volume down just a bit.
Went on a Saturday night and was sat upstairs. Took about 15 minutes for the server to take a drink order, and when she did, she was shouting instructions to a server training at another table. Food took about 45 minutes after ordering. Mediocre at best. Ran into a friend who said she had never seen it that busy before. Don't really find that a suitable excuse. There was live music, which was a nice touch. Won't be returning though. I've worked in food service before and was highly and unfortunately disappointed.
Birthday for mother, as usual the service and food was top notch, busy as per usual for a Saturday . Saturday's there's almost always live music for that makes the place even better, upon the staff realizing that it was my mother's birthday they went the extra mile to make her feel more special.
This is a restaurant I go to often not just for the good value but the continued high quality service and preparation that every restaurant should have.
