Wonderful setting and service. Afternoon tea is better at other places around Seattle but still very lovely.
We went for my daughter's 12th birthday. The service was excellent, the food hot and delicious. We will definitely be back. I recommend making reservations at least 2 weeks out because the dinning area is small and cannot accommodate a ton of people. But that is also why it is such a wonderful place.
Great Tea & service. High tea now has soup. Able to accommodate food allergies just ask. Reservations strongly recommended as walking in can't always be seated.
Expensive. Appeals to young girls, and is a cute place to go on a date. The tea is great, we had Darjeeling and Highland. We also ordered Afternoon Tea, which is three small scoops of sorbet and a food platter with savory and sweet pastries and sandwiches. The sandwiches were tasty, but light and left me wanting more. I did not like the pastries. I'm used to Slav tea culture, where the tea is strong and the pastries are rich and sweet, with vibrant flavors of nuts, preserves, and cream. Most other people do seem to really enjoy the Afternoon Tea, but if you are a Slav, it is easy to feel nostalgic for your family. Anyways, the tea was great, and the cheesecakes looked promising for a return visit.
The service was absolutely stellar. I could not be guaranteed a window seat but the calendaring person bent over backwards to make it happen as it was a special occasion. This woman was very cheerful & kind & even got us an extra half pot of the tea they were featuring that day. What a lovely person! Thanks, Queen Mary, for make the whole experience special!
Exceptional food and careful, attentive service. A fun cozy spot for 1-4 people at a table. Larger groups tend to overpower the space and make it not as nice for the rest of the diners, but I understand the appeal of having an "event" there.
When we arrived, the reservation had been changed to 4:30 somehow - the staff still sat us at 3:30 with no issues, were gracious and pleasant, and the food was amazing. I love this place!
Queen Mary Tea Room is a small, quaint, bustling place where English charm abounds! My girlfriends & I went there just for a girlie day & reminders of days of living in Britain.
The decor is beautiful, the staff were attentive, and the afternoon tea was amazing!
The only negativity that I can find to say is, I believe it’s time to expand! While small & quaint, our table was in a corner that was very tight getting in too. It was sure intimate amongst us girls, but it was rather very difficult to get in or out of our small space. Because if this it felt a tidge cramped but the overall experience was lovely!
Afternoon tea does not come in dairy free options so if you are have dairy issues, best try something else on the menu. Although, because I want to experience the afternoon tea, I went for it and it was TOTALLY worth it! The food was amazing, tasty, beautiful, fresh, and above all else delicious!
Our waiter, Mitchell was friendly & knew his job from helping us with decisions, to moving all our things on our table to fit everything coming out like a pro!
We also were a little early, and were directed to the other tea shop connected to the tea room down the street while we waited for our table. It’s a cute shop with many different teas, tea cups, and pretties. I’d love to of seen more shop items to purchase like journals, tea cozies, or other trinkets outside of tea and cups and saucers. The shop person was lovely and knowledgeable.
Our entire experience was lovely and worth going too any girlie outing!
Always a wonderful time.
Delightful Sunday Birthday Brunch. Our server was perfect— warm, friendly and came up with just the perfect suggestions for us to try.
Amazingly fun girls’ day out! We cannot wait to visit again!
This is one of my favorite tea houses for the atmosphere alone, m but the food is hit or miss.
The food was wonderful but the dining room was chilly throughout afternoon tea.
We love going to the Queen Mary. The food is lovely, and we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday. The server forgot about us for a while before bringing water or taking our orders. That’s very unusual for the staff who are very kind, prompt, and attentive. We also heard a loud argument about seating and pending orders between staff struggling to handle parties who arrived early. That was also unusual for a very thoughtful team of people working together in a small space. We are chalking this up to a busy, stressful day, and will be back another time.
This place was superb. If you want to experience classic High Tea, this is the place to go. It has a rustic charm that makes you feel welcome, and the unique tea sets that they use to serve are beautiful. The food is wonderful, you pay for the quality. Our server was super friendly and answered all our questions. I highly recommend going here, just makes sure to make a reservation as they are almost always booked up tight.
We liked the tea room , the tea tasted great, the sample of teas was great. The over all price of the sample foods for 3 was way to high. There was not enough for the price.
It was lots of fun, the food taste great . The teas we enjoyed lots. The place was Beautiful. It was lovely and a welcoming place. The size was a little crowded. Not enough room between tables. I would not be able to come here on my own but my son saved to give us a good experience. I am surprised by the price of food for such a small sample. Thanks for having the place for us.
I love this place. Every time I come here it’s a fantastic experience. Whether you come for a special occasion or just brunch this place should be in your list for sure. The service is outstanding and the food is always on point. You can’t go wrong with a multiple page tea menu. I can’t say enough great things about. This fabulous place!!
Love this place but the seating is just too tight. They are squeezing so many tables into such a small space that it makes the seating very uncomfortable.
This place provides great food but OVER priced for Afternoon Tea
Queen Mary had great atmosphere and even better service. The afternoon tea was the highlight of our get together where you get basically a whole meal on a three tiered platter and your choice of a tea. The experience made it a place you'll want to go to as well as the expertise in tea and friendly servers.
My friends and I had a wonderful time having afternoon tea. The service was fantastic, Susie was super helpful at explaining the menu and making sure things went smoothly. The entire experience was magical. I will definitely be back!
The decor was nice, although I found the place to be quite crowded and noisy, so it's difficult to have a conversation and you feel like you are on top of the table next to you. The service was spotty, we waited for tea while other tables seated after us were served first, got minimal interaction during our tea, and also waited and waited for the check. It didn't seem like they were understaffed. The food was good, but for the price, there was very little. So overall, I was disappointed.
Lovely holiday tea at The Queen Mary. Charming and delightful room, tea, treats and service. What I love is the intimacy of the Tea Room and everyone is happy to be there. Highly recommend for special occasions but honestly any occasion becomes special at The Queen Mary!
I took my daughter here for a special occaison. The service was excellent and every crumb of food was perfect. Too expensive to make it a weekly thing but great for a quiet celebration. This place is a gem.
My favorite place to have tea. My sister and I make any excuse to make a date for tea at Queen Mary’s. It never disappoints. All of their details are sweet surprises. Everything from the sparkling colored sugar in the sugar bowl, to the mismatched antique tea cups, to the tiny but very detailed bathroom (with a portrait of Queen Mary who strongly resembles her great grandson Prince Charles) makes us smile. Can’t wait to have tea again sometime soon!
Such a special place. Reservervations pretty much required. No one rushes you-service is fantastic. Great for a special occasion.
Always delicious and such a fun, special place
This was my birthday lunch and high tea. My sister is on O2 and I dropped her off while I scoured the neighborhood looking for parking. While I was walking the 6 blocks back - an employee had come outside and made her feel bad (Why are you hanging around here? Do you need something?). It ruined the afternoon for her. There were homeless people hanging about the area but she was dressed nicely. We were FREEZING the entire time we were there. Whatever you do, don’t give up your coat. Service was extremely slow. The ambiance was lovely! We marveled at the bakery counter and took home cake and cheesecake. While it was gorgeous to look at, the flavor If the cake was lacking something. The cheesecake was much better but my sister felt the consistency was wrong. A little liquid. The food and high tea fared better. The scones were tiny. Like the petit vanilla at Starbucks. They were wonderful however. The soup was fabulous. Butternut squash. But it was lukewarm. The tea was fantastic. And greatly enjoyed. I overheard an employee talk to a customer on the phone and I thought they were very rude. We talked about that convo and how it was handled, all the way home. It was about reservations and how they won’t take them if you do not order from the full menu. “It’s first come, first served - but don’t exoect to get a seat. “. If that’s a hint to say order full menu, try another tack. I’m recommending it to try once, because it is beautiful And there are some delicious items to be served. But don’t expect much else. They did bring me back the wrong coat and had a little trouble finding the correct one. Although this is a national known place my experience here was meh. Still try it once. So you can say you’ve been.
On a busy morning, they were a bit under- staffed. The food was good, and the mood was festive.
It was very fun to take my 8 yr old. She was very impressed and had a great time.
I have loved coming to the Queen Mary for a few years now and I must say that this past visit I found the service to be a little less attentive than previous years. I was not offered a hot water refill for my tea and it was hard to easily ask someone. (And in the past, we haven't had to ask) Even though I love the Queen Mary tearoom, I will consider trying another business next year. I also felt that the holiday afternoon tea was not that much different from the usual afternoon tea.....
Made my annual visit to the Queen Mary Tearoom last week. This is an annual holiday tradition for me and one of my closest friends. We like to go to this tearoom as it is always beautifully decorated for the holidays and since we can't afford a plane ticket to England anytime soon it's the closest we can get to an authentic tearoom experience (or what we imagine it to be anyway) in the foreseeable future. The full afternoon tea is a delight for the senses between the food itself, the place settings and the ambiance. We even had a perfectly rainy day to make the experience that much more cozy. After tea we popped down the street to the Queen Mary gift store for a quick browse. Found several delightful books to go with my bookcase display of all things tea related as well as some delicious shortbread cookies in the shape of a teapot that I can enjoy with my own tea break at home to remind me of the lovely afternoon. Highly recommend this tearoom to anyone looking for an English afternoon tea experience. If you are not in the mood for a formal tea service there is a lovely breakfast and lunch menu as well with several authentic recipes such as Shepard's Pie for you to try. Like many tearooms it is on the small side so highly recommend making reservations either by phone or using your "Open Table" app. Cheers!
Such a lovely place to spend an afternoon with special friends. Service was excellent as was the tea itself. All the little touches also enhanced the experience. Food for high tea was good, not outstanding but as expected for a traditional tea repast. Will certainly go back.
A wonderful place to celebrate! The tea choices were many and our food was very good.
We enjoyed our annual Christmas visit to the Queen Mary Tea Room. The tea was magical and the food was scrumdidliumptuous as always. We also visited the Tea Emporium afterwards. Great day!
We love the Queen Mary and try to visit at least twice a year! The brunch options are amazing, (especially the Westminster) and the tea list is extensive. We also like to treat ourselves with something from the pastry chef. The high tea looks incredible too, but my mom always orders the salmon omelette.
We had a waiter and trainee but the waiter left the trainee with us for the duration. Mitchell did a great job and never seemed stressed but he had to leave our table several times to get answers to questions we had. He spilled boiling water on our table twice. A woman clearing tables dropped a stack of dishes/silverware right by our table. The food was good. Not great but good. I had been here twice before and those experiences were far more enjoyable. It was more of a chaotic experience than relaxing and enjoyable.
seated in a very cramped table for 2 next to the door.
we had a very very very new waiter. wished experienced waiter was their to guide new staff member. food is good, expensive, granted this place is more of a destination for unique decor than for the food.
Had a great time! This was our second time going to Queen Mary's, and it was just as good as the first. Vegetarian options available. Small bathroom, but what can you really do about that?
I love having tea at Queen Mary's, especially for special occasions! It's a bit cozy (ok, it's really tight seating) but the decor is so fun and the food delicious. I always lean towards the traditional tea meal, while my friends have selected other items on the menu and were never disappointed. There are SO many teas to choose from to have with your meal. In the summer, I have mine iced. Looking forward to my next visit there. Oh! Be sure to buy some scones to take home for breakfast the next day--DELICIOUS!
