Quattro Gatti Ristorante e Pizzeria
We specialize in traditional cuisine, combining unique flavors while emphasizing authentic preparations.
We feature whole roasted fish, a wide variety of pastas and meats and vegetarian entrees. We also offer desserts made in-house, as well as unique daily specials.
The cozy bar offers classic Italian cocktails and a sizable wine list representing Italy’s diverse regions.
All breads, pizza and panini are made-in house using naturally leavened dough and an ancient fermentation process; this improves digestibility and creates a delicious flavor. Loaves of our delicious bread are available for purchase and are the perfect accompaniment to your own home cooked meals.
Neapolitan pizzas are baked at 1000 degrees in a handcrafted, wood-fired brick oven.
Enjoy peaceful sidewalk cafe dining just steps from the Texas State Capitol.
Very loud restaurant. Food is mediocre. Our service was excellent though. The bartender, Zach, waited on us. He was wonderful.
Hands down the best meal we had in Austin and the best carbonara I’ve ever had. The owner was so kind and entertained us at the bar and offered wonderful suggestions
The service was excellent. I reserved a table for 12 for my birthday, and the server attended to all of our needs in a very timely fashion, with accurate orders. She was readily available and attentive, and, as a former server, I appreciated that. The food, however, could be better. I enjoyed my gnocchi, except for that it was a little too salty. My boyfriend was unsatisfied with his spaghetti bolognese. My cousin had the rigatoni truffle sausage special, which, according to my boyfriend who tried it, was delicious. I will say that the cannoli was great. Coming from NYC, I had yet to find a place that had an accurate cannoli, and this place got the flavor correctly. I'm very glad the restaurant was able to accommodate to such a large group.
Excellent food and service. The wine list was small but adequate. I love the atmosphere, though it is a bit noisy - not a huge deal, but we probably should have sat outside for conversation. I'll be back!
It was a perfect place for a large group of us to celebrate my Mother’s birthday. The downtown location was convenient and the Restaurant’s interior was charming. The food and wine were reasonably priced. The Italian bread was amazing and the food delicious. Excellent service.
The food was great and the outdoor seating was perfect for a spring evening.
Had a rez for 12, they squeezed us into a table for 10. Ordered lunch, and 30 mins later they brought salads and entrees at same time,, but for only 9 of us. 30 mins later two remaing orders came out. One person never got their lunch. Manager was useless. Wont ever return.
Although the food was okay and the setting was pleasant, I felt that the experience at this restaurant was a little bit lackluster. The furniture and finishes in the restaurant are worn. The service although okay, was indifferent to us as a table. There are some great options on the menu, some much simpler than others and not really that special. We had the house gnocchi along the prosciutto fig foccace and the gnocchi was light and delicious but the foccace was not particularly unique or difficult to make.
Good but not spectacular. Not overly expensive by downtown Austin standards, but not inexpensive either.
One of our favorite Italian places. They have some of the best pasta dishes like the gnocchi, so good! Some great Italian wines to enjoy with your meal or a full bar if you prefer.
Excellent calimari, better than average pasta, nice Pinot Grigio. Owner and staff cordial and attentive with no empty tables.
Quattro Gatti could have a higher rating if the owner could pay more attention at the waiters he hires or trains them. Every time I go there, the service is consistently mediocre. Either the waiter forgets a salad was ordered, or he/she forgets we’re at the table waiting to order the food.
I go for the food, the cooks are excellent, the ambience is great and the location is superb, easier to find parking.
Owner - Please train and pay a bit more to your waiters. Service needs a lift.
This restaurant is one of our go-to’s for any occasion. ALWAYS delicious. The service has always been great. The wait staff is very knowledgeable about their wine list.
They accept our reservation and when we arrived they tolds us that they have cleaned the fryer so we just can orden pizza and pasta.
It's been a couple of years since I have been to Quattro Gatti; my friend and I made a reservation as there was a political rally downtown that we were attending later that evening. This was definitely not the best experience I have had there, so based on prior visits, yes, I would recommend. But not from this visit.
I would like to think that the wait staff was just off their game because of the volume of people and wanting to turn the tables. But I am not certain this was the case. I could never really tell who our main server was because there were at least 4 people who brought dishes and at times attempted to clear them before we were through. A simple Cesar salad should be easy to execute but we sent it back twice because there was no dressing on it. After the first time, the table next to us said to ask for some additional dressing on the side, as theirs had been very lightly dressed. Communication with one waiter was limited as he was a non-native English speaker and didn't understand our request for additional dressing.
We ordered the proscuitto and fig focaccia and it came on pizza dough, there was nothing focaccia-like about it. (We didn't bother questioning it.) Spaghetti carbonara was average. We noticed when new diners were seated next to us they were offered the specials on a menu board, and we had not been. My water glass went unfilled the latter part of our meal, yet they filled them at the table next to us, where they also tried to clear dishes before they were done eating.
I am also a food blogger and active on social media. I will be polite and refrain from posting about this experience, but if anyone were to ask me about eating there, I would tell them it may be a mixed bag.
Everything we had was GREAT! The beet salad, fried calamari, Margarita pizza, pork chop, gnocchi verdi, fettuccine salmon, and a special pasta with truffles sausage. All really good with pasta cooked al dente - and mist made fresh at restaurant. It may seem odd to have Italian food in Austin (especially when from NYC, as we were) but this “sister” restaurant to place by same name on UES, was perfectly wonderful.
Horrible experience! We have eaten here 4 times prior. We went there for my daughters birthday celebration. My daughter likes it because it has good gluten free spaghetti pasta noodle. We arrived and were not able to be seated for a while. We were told there was a mix up and they could not get a table of 8 seated per our reservation. They corrected that problem but not graciously. We then unfortunately got an untrained, new server with no social skills. We had to flag down other servers for water and bread. She messed up our drink order and had a hard time taking our food order. The problem was not that she was new but rather that she kept wanting to cop an attitude with us. Our order was of course messed up. My husband did not receive his salad. We had to flag her down and tell her. She argued with us saying that he didn’t order a salad and then was annoyed when we insisted he still wanted it. Our entrees arrived and the birthday girl’s dinner was not what she ordered. The waitress again argued with us about it. My daughter has a severe gluten allergy and ordered the gluten free spaghetti with pomodoro sauce ( what she gets every time) but she was given ziti pasta with arrebierto sauce ( a very spicy sauce). The server said it is the same thing just a different type noodle. She did not want to take it back! We explained that is had to be GF and that the sauce was not what she ordered. We asked for the manager. He came over ( may have been the owner) and he was equally annoyed with us saying it tastes the same and is GF so just keep it !!! Are you kidding me? It is her bday and not the sauce or pasta she ordered. He was annoyed but agreed to fix it. She did not get her dinner until we were finished and our table was entirely cleared. Neither the manager nor the server EVER came back to check on us or to offer dessert or drinks while we sat and watched my poor daughter eat her dinner alone. I was so angry. We WILL NEVER BE BACK.
The service was poor. I waited at least 15 minutes before anyone came to my table and asked for a drink order.
I have never been to an Italian restaurant where you cannot order a side of pasta of any kind. If pasta does not come with the dish, you cannot order.
Food was not good. The Marsala sauce was very thin and vinegary.
Total experience was bad. I will not return nor recommend.
They have such an amazing service. I took kinda big group to this restaurant and ended up staying there for such a long time til almost 11:00 which is like an hour past closing time. But they always kept smiling and taking care of us. Thank you.
Not to mention, food was gold. I had the best meal in Austin. Thank you so much for an amazing time!!!
Owner or Manager? He was not friendly at all.
Service was excellent and so was the food, great job!
It's a solid, convenient place to eat if you're going to a show at The Paramount or something else on that stretch of Congress. Food was OK, not outstanding. Service was very good.
Food is still the highlight with excellent favors. The physical appearance ha fallen with no updates since we first went 6-7 years ago. Portion size has shrunk which is not a big deal but cost and therefore value has gone down
Excellent service, food, atmosphere.
The owner Gianfeanci is terrific and runs a tight ship regarding maintaining quality.
This was the BEST Italian food EVER! Only frustrating because I made my reservation for 14 and they only made the table large enough to accommodate 10. The restaurant was very full and they were not able to seat the rest of our group. Also served a member of the group her food, which she began eating, then they proceeded to say it wasn’t her food. The server not only took it away, but gave it to another customer (with the bites taken out of it). Service was not great, but the food was delicious. Would not recommend going with a large group because the restaurant clearly can not accommodate. With a smaller group however, it has great food!
I went here with my wife to carb up for a marathon. We both sat down and the person who greeted us ask what we would like to drink then followed with he was new and didn’t know anything. Then sat for 10 minutes waiting for a server. The server then took our whole order. We both ordered salads and entrees. I ordered a ceaser salad that was iceberg lettuce and very little dressing and covered in Parmesan cheese. My wife had a greens salad, hers also was lacking dressing. I noticed other tables with bread to start with or at least come out with the salads so I asked. It took asking three different people to get the bread and when we got it our food was already at the table if not eating it. The main course was great. I enjoyed that. It felt like none of the wait staff had any idea what was going on. Overall not impressed. I would recommend somewhere else for sure.
Service was disappointing. It appeared that our server was new and needed more training. Food was fine but the service really killer it
They were great for catering a large group of 11 people. Great food and service. I would definitely go back.
Food was disappointing. The calamari was extremely fishy and both of our pasta dishes lacked in flavor
Cute little restaurant on Congress. We were there for Valentines Day with a group of 6 and everyone really loved the appetizers and entree’s. Thank you for making our day special!
True Italian food, it was like we were back in Italy.
Great food, atmosphere, and prices. We will visit again, and recommend this great place to friends.
Perfecto. I’d recommend again and again. Excellent in every category.
One of my favorite go to restaurants in Austin! Love the gnocchi and the service is always wonderful.
At first when you walk in you think, just a normal pizzeria. The menu however includes pasta and other dishes that make it a great dining experience for a large group where variety is important. The gluten free pasta is perhaps the best out there. The pizza's are excellent. Appetizers great. I took my team of 18 there and it was a great environment and great food. Everyone left raving about the place. Service was great and in the background enough to allow us to socialize but responsive and friendly. Don't hesitate to come here!
Food was as yummy as always !!!
We brought a big group over from a show and everyone loved it
Wonderful wait staff and food. Great downtown restaurant!
Quattro Gatti has so much character and the food is terrific!
The food was very good. Very attentive service and great atmosphere. The pizza looked delicious. My gnocchi was good but left me wanting more. The cannoli was too notch.
Favorite place to eat.
