Quails' Gate Estate Winery - Old Vines Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went here for a our Valentine's dinner. The restaurant is beautiful. Once seated we were ignored for at least 20 minutes. There was a server at the table in front of us who was giving that table amazing service. We finally had to ask her who our server was when she walked by us. She said she didn't know but she could help us. Later when she brought our wine she said she would be serving us so I am not sure if she didn't realize she was our server or what. We received our wine promptly (and it was very good) and our dinners were delicious. We were not checked on except once to make sure our dinners were ok and we had to ask for more bread. I felt disappointed only because I was expecting much better service.
We didn't have the great dinner for Valentine's Day Dinner we had hoped for. Maybe expecting a little too much. Staff and ambience was very nice. The food quality and flavours did not meet our expectations for the price point offered.
Portions were smaller than usual, not sure if they were running out of food, that was the impression.
Not sure we will return, definitely not our destination for Valentine's Day next year.
Quail's Gate is a wonderful place to enjoy outstanding food, lovely wines, incredible scenery and a terrific atmosphere. The music and lighting is just right for a quiet and relaxing evening. We so enjoyed our Valentine's dinner there and will be sure to return soon!
When our order came one of the meals was wrong.........My wife ordered duck and received chicken.....Waitress aknowledged her error in putting in the order....My wife decided she would keep the chicken as it looked good anyway....We were offered a desert wine for the error.....We don"t like desert wine so we declined..........I thought a discount, free deserts or a bottle of wine would have been more appropriate.........Not impressed with the offer ........My wife ate a meal you would have thrown away and nothing much was offered for the restaurants mistake............Poor customer service here.
The service was exceptional!! The pork chop was great but could have been cooked about 2 minutes longer! Your Dry Reisling was very tasty!! The ambience was perfect. The fish was really good but a little bland. Overall we really enjoyed the experience. Thank you!
Our valentines dinner (on February 13th) was AMAZING. Our server was great, she didn't hang around the table too much or too little. I am a picky vegetarian, and she made sure I was able to get the risotto in the dinner sized portion... which I might add was phenomenal! Over all great service, great food and great restaurant.
We will be back, we won't be waiting a whole year to do so though.
My husband and I decided to have dinner that night just because and to use our gift cards .
It was wine and dine event as well. A great way to explore wines we may not have tried. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner time with the sever, she and all where excellent, can't beat the views! The food was perfect lol wins we will do this again. Can't wait to try the Sunday brunch.
Quails Gate is my favourite winery in the region and their restaurant was a perfect reflection of their reputation. Great food in a stunning restaurant with friendly servers that don't over impose. Although it was super quiet for brunch there wasn't too much atmosphere but it was very relaxing. I look forward to going there again.
When we put in our reservation through OpenTable We asked for a taste menu with wine pairing. The food and. Wines were all great. We especially liked the beef plate with tastes of fillet mignon and slow cooked short rib beef. Unique and great combination.
It was not great as there was no confirmation of our order - the food just started arriving- no acknowledgement of our anniversary and limited checking or follow up.
This is a great spot to introduce friends and colleagues to the Okanagan. On Sunday we had colleagues from the east in town on business. They had never had much time to visit the Okanagan, so before we took them on a mega-drive from Peachland to the southern shores of the lake beyond the Mission, we took them to Quail's Gate. What a great start to their day - service, wine, food, ambience - all contributed to a wonderful brunch and great conversation. They capped off the experience by stopping at the wine shop, doing some more tasting and then purchasing wine to take back with them. The sun came out as we sat down to eat and it stayed with us the rest of the day -- perhaps simply another feature of the bon vivance of the staff!!
Love this restaurant. In a city full of wineries and great dining spots, Old Vines is one that I will go to whenever I get the opportunity. I have brought out of town friends and family, and they all love it. It's a great place for a special dinner with a special someone, or a casual lunch with some friends. The menu changes seasonally, but I have never had a meal that I didn't enjoy. If you get a chance to order the crab cakes, do it!
Ordered eggs benedict and specified to the server that I wanted the yolks hard, not runny. They arrived with one runny and one hard, when the server returned a few minutes later to see if we were needing anything, she did ask how things were. I told her my egg was runny, she offered to redo my meal but I indicated that I didn't want to wait to recook my meal and eat after my 3 friends were finished. I was appropriately compensated by not being charged for my meal. The server was excellent and friendly staff and the atmosphere made for an enjoyable time. Would come again with girlfriends for brunch but not with my husband. The size of proportions are a bit too small for a man, delicious, just not big enough.
While we have not eaten everywhere in town, we believe this restaurant must be the very best in our City. The food is superb and every bite is full of flavour. The service is courteous and thoughtful, right down to sparkling water service without payment. The restaurant is suitable for casual dining but special enough for those very special occasions. Highly recommended
Atmosphere and facility are beautiful. Gorgeous views from our table. Servers were polite and competent and helpful. Food was excellent. Prices were surprisingly low for the caliber of food. Pace of the three course meal was flawless. Will be back again for more date nights and will bring more family! Only suggestion is to offer more vegetarian options in the main course but as a pescatarian there were a couple options. Excellent all around.
Highly recommend Quail's Gate for any occasion. Our experience, and we were a group of 4, was that the food was superb and the proportions of same just right. We enjoyed the 3 course special with and without the wine pairings. The restaurant is situated on a superb site and as such we very much relished the long view over the green spaces and as far as the curve of the lake in Peachland. As Okanaganites, we enjoy outstanding lake views but their siting really does sing and makes you fully aware of how beautiful our valley is. The service is not intrusive but attentive which was much appreciated by our group. Lastly, it was lovely to be able to converse easily as the overall ambience is quiet.
Nothing arrives to the table as expected, but everything is a pleasant surprise. Deconstruction of common dishes allows for an amazing interaction of taste. We are usually fast eaters, but here we savor every bite and order multiple course. No competition in Summerland, but still one of the best of the Okanagan Valley. We eat here every time we come. Different seasons means different locally available ingredients and menus.
The Chef Menu with wine pairing was amazing and well priced. The dishes were flavorful and tender. We enjoyed the romantic dining experience while watching the sun set over the vineyard. Views were spectacular as you would expect from Kelowna. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to anyone looking for a very nice meal in Kelowna.
My wife and I went for dinner at Quails Gate during a short three day holiday to the Okanagan. We were there mostly to visit the local wineries during the Okanagan Wine Festival. The meal was outstanding. I had the roast lamb which was seasoned perfectly and cooked as I had requested. My wife had the mushroom tart with quail's egg. The tart was excellent. We paired the food with tyhe Stewart Family pinot noir which was also excellent particularly with the tart as indicated on the menu. The Cheese plate and desert wines were also superb.
Although the restuarant pricing is higher than most on the B.C. coast, I would highly recommend it.
