Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art.

First time to dine here; celebrating our anniversary. Dino, our waiter, was excellent…quick, efficient, non-intrusive but there when you needed him. The moussaka was absolutely superb—best I’ve ever had. Salmon was wonderful—great presentation, perfectly cooked. The meatballs are very special…light and airy. The atmosphere is quite nice, although the location is a bit out of the way. But it was totally worth the trip! Definitely will return here; best Greek food we’ve ever eaten outside of Greece!

Delicious! The Pastitsio, the moussaka, and the lamb. The lamb was cooked in an fabulous honey sauce and the lamb fell off the bone and melted in your mouth.

I went there for my birthday and everything was pretty quiet. The server I had was very attentive and friendly, plus the food was really good. I was given a choice for my dessert and she surprised with a birthday candle to celebrate. I would highly recommend this place.

Extraordinary food ! My out of town guests truly enjoyed the meal. The freshness of the favors in each dish was outstanding. A very happy meal to celebrate my newly wed niece & her new husband. We ate everything BUT the dishes. Thank you for a memorable evening. The noise, however was a BIT overbearing. My 1 problem of the evening.

1. anything "market place" or price as a "special" needs to be priced and stated to the diners. 2. and my most pet peeve which happened 2 or 3 times over our meal was the interruption by the staff " how is your food" are you enjoying your meal?" Please do not interrupt our flow of the meal and our conversation. Be attentive as the staff was to filing water or wine glasses as we need. Be invisible till you are needed.

Never disappoints! The hit appetizers are transcendent. Octopus cooked to perfection. Shrimp in a deeply flavorful red sauce. And the grilled Halumi chhese with grapes s one of the best starters I have ever had. And the service matches the food. Couldn’t be a more pleasant and satisfying place to dine.

I have liked this restaurant for many years, and have never been disappointed with a visit. It attracts a young, but "grown up" crowd that knows how to behave in a restaurant - rare in NYC. The waitstaff is attentive but not intrusive. For lamb lovers, try the lamb shank. It's been a winner for years.

The lamb shank was the best I’ve had in years. Its so tender that you don’t need a knife. Its savory with a hint of sweetness that is complimentary. The dessert was phenomenal. We had options and all were delicious. I recommend Pylos!

We asked for a recommendation on a red Greek wine. The server offered one which was very good. When we received the check we saw it was $80. He should have told us the price, we would not have ordered such an expensive bottle. We should have asked the price but in the moment did not, in the future I will certainly ask at this restaurant and others. The food was very good. Large portions which can be shared.

We have been to Pylos multiple times and have always had a wonderful dinner. Love the horiatiki salad, and the octopus and lamb chops were fantastic. Our server Alexander was excellent.

This was our first time at Pylos. We found everything about this restaurant good. The food was excellent and the service equally good. The noise level in the front where we sat was fairly low which is always welcome. I really recommend Pylos. It is unusually good at fair prices. We plan to visit again when we are in the neighborhood.

I wanted a perfect Mediterranean restaurant for a memorable birthday dinner, and Pylos hit it spot on! We had moussaka, pistatsio, striped sea bass, and lamb chops. All was perfection, and service was great! Will definitely come back on our next visit to NYC!
