Among the ruins of ancient Greece were items such as clay pots that revealed many clues to daily Hellenic life. PYLOS (pronounced Pee-'los) - the root word that includes things of clay - celebrates these prosaic artifacts we now recognize as great art.

An absolutely perfect diner
beautiful atmosphere, fantastic food, and impeccable service. could not have asked for more.
It was great!
I’ve had better Greek food at causal dine / pick up places.
The food was good but not great.
Our server was rude and acted like we were a side note.
Which turned us all off to the place.
I can’t figure out how the rates are so high.
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. It was a great meal in a crazy time. Glad we went out to support. Everyone was spaced out and we felt secure. Our food was great!
Really great! Tasos our waiter was amazing and made great recommendations. Everything was delicious
We ate outside, so ambience = mixed, lol. Great food! Great waiter! Great service, even outside!
Wow what a gem! Such delicious greek food portions were generous, service was super we will absolutely make another trip into nyc from new jersey to visit this wonderful restaurant again for comfort food greek style! Thank you Pylos loved it!
Fantastic meal for us visiting from out of town. Delicious food, and perfect environment. Loved the Greek music in the background.
Our waiter was excellent and very accommodating!
Great food, great wine, and great service! It’s always a great experience when we dine here.
While most other restaurants have slipped a notch since covid, Pylos continues to deliver delicious food that doesn't break the wallet. And while the fish part of the menu might be more limited than their uptown rivals, the food is as good if not better and at a much lower cost. I would highly recommend this place and will continue going back.
We came here for a 40th birthday dinner. The interior was sleek but welcoming. Our waitress was so kind. We ordered a bottle of red wine and upon the initial tasting, we realized we strongly disliked it. She didn't charge us and was very helpful in recommending another bottle which turned out to be delicious. The food was very good and they brought out a tasty dessert for our birthday. I would definitely recommend this spot! It would be great for a date or intimate group setting.
We had an excellent meal. Don’t miss the Greek salad or the moussaka. Delicious!!
Everything we ordered was amazing. Genuinely blew us away and the final bill was very reasonable for the amount we ordered. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.
I'd been to lunch once before and really enjoyed. Went back for dinner and just loved everything. Our waitress was helpful and attentive and the food was fantastic. Almost don't want to write this and not be able to get my next reservation lol.
The branzino was out of this world and the octopus as well. I loved that they had lunch and brunch menu, sometimes is hard to find a proper lunch menu on weekends in New York.
It was fabulous as always!
Deliscous food. Best octopus we’ve ever had. The whole bronzino and rice were both outstanding
Small restaurant with beautiful interior. I don’t recommend for a larger party or if you’re going to get a little buzzed with your dinner to celebrate a special occasion as they only have wine or beer. The food was good. The appetizers are best while the entrees are tasty but truthfully nothing memorable. Great quality of food however. It’s definitely a quiet date night spot but it’s not a lively place and the music is quiet and to be honest, a little depressing. So if a quiet, lowkey dinner is what you’re looking for this is a good place for you. If you’re looking for a fun start to an evening or to celebrate, go somewhere else.
Great food. Music was too frenetic and kind of techno loud. No way does this match the restaurant. This was a turn off.
Great food and atmosphere. There a few people walk around purring water for table. Our guy( unfortunately didkt catch his name. Glasses on with darker face / short. He was rude and ignorant . He probably was Greek or from somewhere that don’t value women at all. He was pretty disrespectful with his body language. They should NOT interact with guest at all. I am not Greek myself but first generation woman living in this country for 20 years. I know this type of ignorant man very well.
Overall atmosphere and food was great but be aware of this type of people in restaurant and report them if they act disrespectful.
We had our first Thanksgiving dinner at Pylos. The servers, taste, menu selections and ambience couldn’t have been more perfect! For $50 per person, we couldn’t believe the quantity and quality of the meal. We had butternut squash soup, between the choice of either a salad or large prawns in a tomato based cream sauce, turkey with sweet potatoes and wild rice plus our dessert of choice, phyllo Napoleon or chocolate mousse. Absolutely delicious and thoroughly satisfying. Can’t wait for next meal at Pylos!!
Have eaten at Pylos several times, most recently for Thanksgiving. The good was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the service was good.
I highly recommend Pylos for dinner whether it a for an occasion or casual dinner with friends or family.
Probably the best Greek food I’ve ever eaten. And I love Greek food and eat it often. The octopus, the fried eggplant and zucchini, the Bronzino, and the lamb chops were all delicious, but the honey braised lamb shank was off the charts. I was impressed:)
One of my favorite places in NYC. I brought friends last night and it was my first visit since Covid. I was very happy to find the food and service as wonderful as ever.
Getting seated was more challenging than I would hope. We arrive twenty minutes earlier and asked to sit as soon as possible. Despite our table being ready we were asked to wait outside because our reservation time did not begin.
Not taking our reservation a few minuets early discourages timelines. There is a variability in when people arrive and if you will not seat them if they are a few minuets they will avoid that outcome. Pylos is incentivizing me to plan to arrive late.
I just wanted to sit with some friends to begin talking and drinking while the rest of our party arrived. Not accommodation me more promptly was disappointing.
Their food is good and wait staff is attentive. My initial interaction with the host leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I hadn’t been to the restaurant in almost 5 years and I was so excited to return! It was just as I remembered. Very clean - even all those pots on the ceiling. The food was delicious and the wine was delicious. I highly recommend for authentic Greek cuisine.
Excellent lemon soup, moussaka and poached salmon dishes.
Very good food with generous portions. Excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful service. Available outside dining with heaters for the colder weather. Overall, a very good restaurant. Go and enjoy.
Great experience overall! Would go again
Amazing !! Will be back
Excellent. Authentic Greek cuisine and exceptional service. everything was exquisite. Thank you :)
The food was mediocre and menu quite limited. Tables are too small for a proper dinner of two.
The food was spectacular as always 😄
Excellent Greek food! And all time favorite restaurant in NYC
What?! There for over 15 years and I had never been?! Well that was a mistake! As a Greek I can attest to this restaurant's authentic and delicious food, terrific decor, and amazing wine list. I do wish they had a full liquor license to enjoy a nice Greek inspired cocktail. We will be back.
Delicious food, excellent service. We sat outside on the sidewalk (not the shed, which was a little warm with the heaters on during an unseasonably balmy November night) and it was relatively quiet. Food came quickly and everything was delicious. We ordered the Greek salad, stuffed chicken, and pistachio fish. Had leftovers, because it was a lot of food.
Wish I would’ve shot the Saganaki. Best i ever had and service was great!
